  • Video demonstrates how to repair a multimeter or clamp meter when the resistance function does not seem to work or has lost its accuracy. Ie, anywhere greater than 0.5 ohms resistance on new leads, intermittent failure of ohm readings, up to a completely open circuit (open loop) OL reading.
Demonstrated on Klein CL800 Clamp Meter.
    Cheers for watching,

Thank you. I beat the hell out of my multimeters. I had a cl700 that the ohms would not read, and this worked. Thank you.

I had this happen on my 179, it was reading 900-1.5k with different leads and what not. Took it into local cal place for a warranty since I figured a fluke meter reading wrong would be good enough grounds for an upgrade. Instead they tried to give me a sore dick deal going on about how the main board would need to be replaced and it was because I must have hooked up amp plug to the mains (I did not, the fact that there's two massively overbuilt fuses in it didn't seem to concern them) and that it wouldn't be covered under warranty because of that. Told them thank you but stick your quote where the sun doesn't shine, cracked it open and found that the solder on the COM jack had cracked, resoldered it with leaded solder (it's softer than lead free so should handle stresses a little better) and it's been working great for the last 6 years. Needless to say I use a different calibration place these days.

I am looking to get into an apprenticeship and was looking into the Fluke T6-1000 when I land one but seeing that the Klein CL800 is not only around $100 cheaper but the clamp also measures DC current which the fork on the T6-1000 doesn't do I am going to pick one of these up when I start... I hope I don't get any flak for going Klein instead of Fluke.

When i short multimeter it shows more than 200 ohm , but continuity test is working well. So what will be the problem?
