@@pumpkin.x I KNOW I THOUGHT THIS WAS 20 or something it sounded like a 90's song WHAT I was like this is 20-30 years old is the person who made this even alive.
This song is one of my absolute favorites!!! I've always loved it!!! Plus it's in my vocal range 🙂 Just turned 65; hard to believe I was 13 when this came out! 🤔 God bless everyone and thank you Carly!! ❤
we always thought it was "grounds in my coffee" and that the horse's name that won at Saratoga was "Naturally' as in your horse (named) Naturally won.......oh well,
It's a bit different for me, it's like my ex-wife is singing this song as a real-time reflection of our failed marriage in 1973. But I was 19 and had more important things to do..
I've been listening to this song for weeks now, I'm a teenager who loves listening to classics, this song is brilliant even more amazing than new songs. I actually heard this song in how to loose a guy in 10 days and it caught my attention. I'm probably talking too much but yeah, point is I love this song
I don’t care how many times I hear this song….when she starts out with, “You walked into the party like you were walking onto a yacht,” I smile, and can’t wait to hear the rest of the song.❤
2023 is almost over but memories of the 70's 80's and 90's will always, always be playing all year long on my sound system throughout in every room in my house, garage, and in my backyard!🤗
I'm from Australia and of course, we never saw the total eclipse of the sun in 2024. What I wanna know is did it pass over Nova Scotia..or did that happen in 1972?... When the "You're So Vain" song came out by Carly Simon.
I remembered this song being on the top song on American Billboard for so many weeks while I was still in my high school chasing crazily week after week for the pop songs on ABB. I loved this song then and now and forever, what a great song Carly Simon had sung! But I just don't know how all those years have gone by swiftly now that I am an oldie myself!
After all this time... This song still holds some of the most epic lyrics... "You're where you should be all the time and when you're not you're with some underworld spy or the wife of a close friend..." And of course "You're so vain, you probly think this song is about you..." I mean how sweetly savage is that?!" For all of us girls who love too hard and love the wrong guy and had to pick themselves up after finding out who he really is and for all the guys still trying to figure out that these girls are where it's at. I named my daughter Karleigh.
What does this mean when said to a guy . I am a woman well.im 17 so getting there but my aunt said it to a guy once and I don't know what she ment and still don't amd she's gone now . Sorry of you have time what did she mean thank you
@@cleetorres1351 Hi, if you're asking about the meaning of the whole song, my interpretation for it is that it's like a requiem for yourself. It's when you see a man for who he truly is: gaslighting, emotionally abusive. And or not available in the first place (like just having an affair with you). if you're talking about that first line specifically, "you're where you should be all the time", Nova Scotia (mentioned right before this line) is considered one of the places a person would spend the rest of their live at. It's a destination you'd settle in when you've accomplished your dreams. It's also very naturally beautiful and picturesque. So the singer is telling her man to stay in that place since it's so magical, metaphorically; i.e. you're too good to be true so you might as well stay in that magical realm, again, metaphorically. Because when the man is around, he's either getting in trouble or sleeping with a friend's wife which is even worse because he is cheating on his woman and also betraying his friend. I hope this helped.
@@cleetorres1351 my take is that this guy comes across as the full package... Money, looks, charm with an ego that even exceeds all that. He is also a master manipulator to the point his close friends trust him with their wives which seems to be a mistake on their part. He is so grandiose and suspicious that he is either with some underworld spy (which may or may not be an exaggeration or even a complete fabrication or not) or the wife of one of his "close friends" trying to get with them. So she's calling him out in the nicest way possible - sweetly savage like hey I may have believed you at first but now I know who you really are and I'm gonna warn everyone else about you too.
The cool bass line is by Klaus Voomann, friend of the Beatles, designer of the Revolver cover art, and collaborator with all four of them at one time or another after the breakup.
I'm here because my mom introduced me to it when I was a kid and I listen to this occasionally. She was raised in the 70s and 80s and introduced me to great music! Her family won a jukebox on a radio contest and her older sister has it in her basement
When i was in my younger years, this song could’ve easily been inspired by me and written about me. The way women and men chased after me. If only I knew then what I know now.
my mom used to sing this song to me every night before I went to bed, back when I shared a room with my sister. I was so young and thinking of those days makes me cry
Great Music at the time, I listened to it as a teenager, until today, the listener, not the teen anymore. I was brought up with great music from great musicians, Carly Simon was one of them, thank You so much for a wonderful time.
Happy 2024 Eclipse! It turns out the 2024 eclipse is going to just miss Nova Scotia a bit this time. ' Better to Lear-jet into New Brunswick. Ah, Piedmont Park, Atlanta! I recognized the sacred hill in the background. I miss it so much.
Years ago when I learned Mick Jagger was an uncredited backup singer I can always hear his voice ☺️ I also read somewhere that his backup vocal was totally unplanned. He just happened to show up in the studio when she was recording this song.
Yeah back in the day even the credited singers and session players weren’t as easy to research so I didn’t find out about Mick until many years later - now I wonder how I could ever have not realized it was him
Back when this song was a hit I read a review that said what really put this song over the top was Mick Jagger's "alley cat background vocals." I still think that was a good way to put it.
Everyone thought it was Warren or Mick but this great song was all about David Geffen David did think it was about him at the release but he was open Gay and been Open Gay for decades
Emperor, that was a good show you put on for me. You almost had me convinced. Lol You had quite a strategy. Wedding dancers, great music, sweet compliments...thank you. I was told you're very intelligent. Did they forget to tell you that I'm intelligent, too. You thought I was innocent. Lol. Good luck, Emperor and good by.
Love her talents and Songs. Great Classic Oldie that holds a lot of weight. Memorable. Looking back at truths it is spot on! Thinking lots of people are guilty.
This is the best version imho because the song 🎶 starts with the Bass! No one writes songs like this anymore “Shame!” P.s. The only other song that comes to my mind without thinking about it, starts off with a Bassline (& the entire song is written around the Bass) is Tool’s - Schism P.p.s Always remember this you bass players out there. “Playing the Bass is like playing guitar only cooler!”
😮This is absolutely the best song that Carly Simon came out with. This song was made in the 70's?! It will always be a classic song from Carly Simon.
Hard to believe this song is almost fifty years old-Still sounds great!

"there were clouds in my coffee" Also, I think that Mick's background vocals really were the perfect touch for this song........powerful.

Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson were "brilliant" in the How to lose a guy in ten days movie :)
Filme muito legal e minha ex disse que essa musica me representava porque era muito " vaidoso" 😄😄
I always sing "they'd be Ben's partner" 😂
Everything about this song is perfect, her singing, the lyrics, the percussion, etc. This used to be me and my moms song
And Mick Jagger's backing vocals wrap it up in gold

This song epitomizes the 1970's. One of my all-time favorites.
I was going to school on the school bus and the bus driver used to play this on the stereo almost every day. Love this song
Mick Jagger holding down the back up vocals, job well done. The vocal fry on the word several, outstanding!
I never knew that, I can hear it now.
Man i must be getting old because even this song makes me teary eyed for some reason.

2022 and still loving this song. 💃
You're so vain 😀
Me too...
This one takes me back to my teens when I was still living in Mexico!
Same here 🥰 Love most of Carly Simon’s songs/covers ❤️
