    I've been having a lot of fun with the G2 Nano lately and thought I should share some of these new techniques with everyone and review the standards while I'm at it.
    As you can tell, I love the new Swedish Fire Torch pre-fueling method! It provides such nice consistent cooking temperatures for long periods of time without the need to tend the fire. Convenient and effective!
    Thanks for watching!

    My Nano and X case arrived today. I was already impressed by my Firebox, I have got to say the Nano is super impressive. Hats off to you guys. Struggled a bit with my fist attempt at a stick fire, but once you've got it down it's as easy as it gets. I was really surprised at how fast it cools down too.
    A big thanks to the guy's at The Bath Bushcraft Shop for getting it to me so fast, and to Firebox for another great product.

    Wow! The Nano rocks!
    I tried frying some bacon and eggs on the Nano today and it was very nice!
    I used the 8" Ultra cook kit and side fed the Nano with some small sticks.
    So easy to control the heat to perfection and if you season your pans and use oil, butter or some fat the food never sticks.
    I used a total of 6 sticks(!) lying on the ground (and some dry leaves and twigs to get the fire started). Very fuel efficient!
    This stove is awesome, thank you Steve!

    Hi Steve, I bought a Firebox Nano three years ago. Its the best and most versatile stove ever! I've used it with gas, spirit and of course wood, It's with me when ever I go out for the day, of for multi day hikes. I used it last summer to walk the Coast to Coast here in Great Britain. I've also got its big brother that I use when out in the woods, I've even used it as an overnight fire under my tarp when hammock camping. It went out of course, but certainly took the chill off the air under the tarp.
    I would highly recommend it over any other small wood stove, especially those multi piece " jigsaws" some people use! Thank you for your hard work designing and developing these stoves.

      Thank you so much for the kind words and continued support, really means a lot to me. I am glad you have had the experience of getting out with your stoves and making memories like that. Sounds amazing to go from Coast to Coast like that in Great Britain. Thank you for the feedback, Cheers to you!

    You know, I'm an old guy on Social Security who used to back pack and have done disaster relief work [So preparedness matters]. If I can ever pull it off, I plan to but some of your stuff. Wether I use it or not... Anyway, worked for 29.5 years in a factory primarily punching 24 gauge steel and in the machine shop... ran the place for a while. IF I could have been 26 instead of 66 and still had those experiences, I'd have been asking if I could work for you, assuming a US plant... That is, enjoying the videos! PS. Firebox Stove I plan to. I used the canister style stove last year and had the burner go out shortly into my trip. So I looked into alternative stoves and found your guys stoves and the versatility of the g2 looks right up my alley. I was solely dependent on that canister stove for that trip. So I figured I need to have more than one option.

    Well done! If you seen my adventures with the Firebox you know it's my go to stove and pretty much love it's many ways to heat food. By that I mean: charcoal, coal, propane, alcohol and wood. Note or constructive thought. The opinions that come with and through Firebox/Steve are well worth having with one exception, the small stainless gripers. Why I don't care for them, they are thin and to flexable which makes them less than impressive to use. Hope you find this useful. Take care and thank you for a great product for the outdoorsmen/Back Country Horsemen of Pisgah.

    I just used my nano on an solo over night hammock camp and it worked great. Cooked dinner and kept it stoked for hours as a little fire pit. Just sat next to it and enjoyed the glow. I really like the nano for light packing trips and I use the full size firebox all the time at home and when camping with the trailer. The full size makes a great fire pit with big flames for roasting marshmallows and hot dogs with the kids. Now I just need to bake something in the zebra pot, maybe I will this weekend. Great products, keep it up.

    if a stranger's opinion matters, i would suggest that the V bend on the feet holding up the box also be used on the top to hold the box firmly in place and keep the feet from sliding up and down. without them i found it to be fairly easily tipped bc the box will slide up the 2 feet opposite of the tipping direction. id really like to see this safety mod but im also well aware that im probably the only one that has this concern bc it seems no one else has pointed this out or had an issue with it, at least in my general perusing on youtube. even so, i cant wait to try it out next weekend, and i hope to get many years of use and relaxation from this little stove.

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  Рік тому +1

      Thank you for your feedback. In my experience, The movement which you refer to only happens under weight considerably heavier than what Nano was intended for.

      @@fireboxstove if pulled horizontally off the stove it will do it. i do believe this shouldn't be much when leaning over it and taking things on and off more vertically, but if its on a picnic table or something where you may be more prone to slide it off more then lifting it its fairly easy. like when i tried it sitting at my pc desk. no little elbows allows for the possibility but ultimately its the misuse by the user (me) that allows it to go beyond a possibility.

    You might want to remove the O ring, rubber gasket, which ever is on your alcohol stove first before using the cap as a stand.
    Saw a video of a guy using the pot handle flame guard at the bottom of the stove. He wanted to feed wood sticks under the stove, in addition to the two side ports, for longer burn time, slightly less wood attention needed. The plate was used as a wood stop guard, so as to not over feed sticks pushing them outside the stove.

    See now we`re talking!
    We reviewed the kelly kettle on our channel not too long ago and it is useless when it comes to food preping.
    This looks like a smarter solution by far, we have also had the FireAnt from Emberlit for awhile now and tested it, and we will do a review on that soon but this looks smarter to be honest and solves some of the problems we have with stoves being on the ground, stability and warmth being and issue every time.
    We might have to pick one of these up, good video Steve :)

    Great video. Definitely getting one of these. I’ve just noticed another great feature of this design, there’s enough room to put a tea light under

      You don't want the grill plates being applied to the stove or fire without meat immediately following that. The meat pulls the heat out of the grill plate so they do not warp. Same thing goes for when the meat is done, you want to immediately move the plate off the stove. Let us know if you have any other questions.

    Hi!
    Looks really nice and good instructions, just wonder, and it is just a suggestion, about the "grill" pad.
    Would it be possible to use the short pins (used for the trangia) "u"-part to lock it in the holes diagonally as just placing it on the "legs" seems hazardous... :) Think it will work, as it then can only slide some diagonally, I suppose *smile*
    Very nice stove and the multiple uses is more than most I've seen!

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  8 років тому

      +Eie Noren The way I figure it is that the Nano is so small and light that anchoring the grill would be pointless since it will be nessicary to hold the grill with pliers (or similar) any time you're using a spatula to turn your food anchored or not.

    • @eienoren2454
      @eienoren2454 8 років тому

      +FireboxStove Good thought, I can see that it might be an issue, but if they are "locked" you have (when using the plier-ish similar whatever) control of both stove and grill as it is very light.
      Ah, I think I am a wood stove hoarder... have a lot not even used yet and still thinking I should buy this *smile* this mite have some reference to that I am really a sucker for good technical solutions.

    Just got mine today and can’t wait to use it.
    The fire grate comes in contact with the walls of the stove about a half inch above its final position, requiring me to give it a good little tap to get it down/up. Is it possible for me to file those edges down to eliminate this? Small gripe I know, I’m just now jealous seeing videos where it drops right in to place.

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  3 роки тому +1

      The fit is easily adjusted by inserting your fingers into the holes when the fire grate is all the way down then pulling back towards the hinge. Give it a little pressure then check the fit... repeat until you get it how you want it.👍😎

    Hey Steve, so I have a question about the legs and stability. It seems a little high compared to its width. Is there any reason you made the Bottom legs so tall? Wouldn't it have been better to make them shorter?
    Stability is super important to me, and I have to say I'm torn between this stove, which I think performs better, or another brand, which doesn't perform so well, but is much more stable.

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  3 роки тому +1

      The leg height is important to provide the correct entry angle of the side fed fuel/sticks. This creates an upwards angle which is important to the flow dynamics of the stove.
      The stove is quite stable even with the legs turned inwards for a small pot but even more so with a large pot and having the legs turned outwards. The stove is that much more stable if you get the x- case. Thanks for watching Jim!

    • @fireboxstove

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  9 років тому

      +David Possien Yes! Exactly. The side feed is great for setting a temp (by the number of and size of the sticks used) and the and then maintaining that temp by continuing to feed those sticks in.
      Thanks David!

    • @fireboxstove
      @fireboxstove  9 років тому

      +Dean Kirby It's not so much about deciding which method is better, but rather having the versatility to use what will work the best for the situation, conditions and fuel availability. The side feed is great for setting a temp (by the number of and size of the sticks used) and then maintaining that temp by continuing to feed those sticks in. It's easy to add a stick or take one or two away. And since you're feeding them in a little at a time the flame size is consistent, compared to adding a small piece that will flare up then die out.
      Some of it is personal preference. With the Nano you get to choose.
      Thanks so much Dean!

    Does the pathfinder alcohol burner fit inside the firebox nano, and if so how well does it function for cooking. I much prefer the pathfinder burner over the Trangia because of its much larger fuel capacity, burn time and it has more constant heat during operation. ( stainless steel body of burner doesn't heat up as much so it does not vaporize and waste excess fuel ).
    I like the idea of a multi fuel stove system and want to use it as an option but its size is an issue.
