- Ever wondered how the hill station of Darjeeling acquired its name? Did you know that the English still prefer the Darjeeling tea over any other kind of tea in the world? Like a little fairy tale tucked in the hills of West Bengal, Darjeeling unveils itself dramatically through the smoke of the toy train that wraps the city. Neel walks through the tea gardens to find himself tasting six different varieties of tea at the Happy Valley tea estate and then dabbles in some magic with the little monks at Enchey monastery.

darjeeling was part of limbuwan a kirati teritory ruled by limbus with lepcha who joined namgyal dynasty coming from tibbet to form sikkim. but limbus were marginalised later cuz they did not took buddhism like lepchas. after bhutia came gorkha from 1774. n it become part of indian union from 1947 n merged with bengal from 1956

Just one reminder ....kachenjunga is situated in sikkim and nepal . The centre, main , south peaks are situated in Taplejung, Nepal. While the north peak lies in sikkim. You just get to see the view from darjeeling thats it.

Bhanubhakta Acharya converted the Ramayana from Sanskrit to Nepali *(Not from Hindi).. Nepali back then use to be an oral dialect ; spoken mostly by the vulgar uneducated people... He was the pioneer of the language as he moulded, gave shape, introduced and popularised the Nepali Language today.

Hindi cow belt Brahmins need to realise that they should not poke their nose into every community in India . PLEASE STOP try to bring your Hindi culture of 'Shiv lings' and Ganesha and Rama in every topic. Get the meaning of Darjeeling right - The name 'Darjeeling' came from the Tibetan words, 'dorje' meaning thunderbolt (originally the scepter of Indra) and 'ling' a place or land, hence 'the land of the thunderbolt'. A simple GOOGLE search reveals you are lying about the meaning of Darjeeling. Not every part of India is about 'Shiv ling' or 'Mata ji ' etc . There are MANY 'ling' suffix in the names of many local areas such as - Chamling , Peling, Gitabling ,Tackling etc. AND NO they are not about any one's ling.
