Frankly, I don't think Dave actually meant to roast a child. Before he started the level he said "let's pretend Happy MW legitimately made this for their mom". He probably thought this was like those little Timmy "my first level" troll levels. So even though he said "let's pretend", I don't think he believes this level was actually made by a young child.
thats what I got out of it too, plus I can't be the only one who thinks that level is WAY too well made compared to other levels by children. but if it's really a child, good job kid
I think it's either a badly implemented parody of those kinds of levels; or it was made by a child, with no concept of what their mother would like; or their mother's an avid Mario Maker player with her own UA-cam channel, because otherwise why would you hide doors behind saws and force her to deliberately take damage unless she was used to doing that anyway? Because forcing the player to take damage is, in general, not good level design. Or we could just go with DGR's theory, that this kid just hates their mother.
Fair enough, I'll buy that and let this slide because I was about to completely forget DGR for this episode and the complete bashing of the level creator. Kinda hits too close to home, I've lost my mother sometime ago, and it just kinda hurt my heart for him to have said that, not having heard him say the "pretend" part at the beginning. Thank you for taking time to put this down, you saved a fan from moving on elsewhere in ignorance.🖖
Some others beat that first level before I got to it, but I did learn some interesting things when I played it. First, the car section at the end is actually automatic. You can let go of the controller and you'll make it all the way to the first box you need a key for. But you do need to jump out at that point, or your speed will shoot you right through the box and crashing into the wall. Similarly, even if you have a second key, the boost pad you're placed on after going through the first key block shoots you right through the next key block - so hold left at that point so that you bounce off the springs and into that second key block. Second, looking at the level viewer, there's actually 4 keys that can be found in the level (including the one from the red coins) - so you can essentially choose whichever two you want to get. IMO, the one you were going for is the hardest, because of the difficulty involved getting a builder suit while avoiding other power-ups during the "refreshing" fall. The second key is in one of the ants on the first screen - it's completely inaccessible, so you need to get a POW block in the sub-world and bring it back. There's a red pipe all the way in the bottom right corner. Need to go to the right of the green pipe that leads to the car section, through the cloud blocks, and plummet all the way down. For the third key, the one missing red coin (the only one not in the car section) is right next to that pipe down there. And the last key is the one you saw on screen every time you came through the red pipe at the start. A transport block drops you onto it, and the corresponding transport block you need is fairly well-hidden in the refreshing section - gotta climb up a good distance on the right side to reach it. Lastly, there is what *appears* to be a hidden dev route at the spot where you you exit the first key block and enter the second - seen at the 9:47 mark, the last place he died before giving up. You can see a door to the right there. There's a bunch of invisible blocks leading upward that help you get to it. But there's two problems: First, it would be a nightmare trying to actually hit and then jump on the first block, since the only ground there is the boost pad. Second, more importantly, that door leads to a spot above the goal, but one from which you can't actually reach the goal. In other words, apparently it's a sort of decoy dev route that leads to nothing. In summary, this level is a blight on humanity.

@@Key019 you've been relentlessly and enthusiastically shooting down anyone who is bothered by this rant he went on, on the assumption that 1 it was absolutely just a troll level and not actually a child and couldn't possibly be real, based seemingly purely on your own mental standards about what kids can and can't create (and I really have a feeling that you're underestimating what some kids can do), and also that 2 it even actually matters whether that specific level was made by a troll or an actual child. but you're completely missing the point that even if it *was* a troll and not a kid who made it, there are still lots of kids who watch his stuff, for whom the truth behind that level would matter absolutely not at all, in the face of hearing dave direct his rant, not as if it were at a troll, but as if it were in fact towards a child who made the level. and don't bother defending that "he was just being sarcastic", because again, kids that young aren't going to catch on to that even if you'd be right. what they'd hear is dave directly speaking to a presumed child with how he was wording things, and telling them that their level is garbage and they should be ashamed. literally even if this *was* a troll level, it *does not and would not matter* to any kids watching and listening, because they'd still hear him as speaking *to* a child in that way. to try to sweep that under the rug with a "lol don't take it so seriously it was just a troll level" is both irresponsible, and also straight out lazy, in the sense of "I'd rather not bother having to actually think about that stuff so I'd rather minimize it and laugh/scoff it away so I don't have to, and shame/shut down anyone who'd try to challenge me on that enough that I might end up having to after all." Like, dude, just.... stop. You clearly aren't good at being mindful about kids, so don't try to lecture those who have more understanding on the nuances and are speaking up on them.

It's not like you to be so harsh on a childs level. Perhaps u didnt believe it was a child who actually made it which isnt farfetched based on how the level was decorated otherwise hope everything's ok with you. Other than that nice video as usual ❤
Everyone’s a child; nescius video like your writing.

Unrelated question, but what's that outro song? I KNOW I heard it from somewhere, but I just can't put my finger on it.

@@gizanked Thank you so much!
with all that forced damage, I'm not 100% sure Happy MW really loves his mommy... Then again we don't know their mommy, maybe she's into that
Day 30 of asking Dave to make an official announcement regarding the Mariothon recap.
I dont get how he saw the 1st 2 key doors but not the 3rd
There's a difference between cheez-its, and cheeznips. Ive had both, and the cheez-its do taste better. Just me.
That first level was not refreshing.
Dgr, why you don't like my course?
Which one was yours

@@meighanwong5384 I am so sorry he didn’t like it. It’s not right what he said about it. The level was great and I’m sure your mother would have loved it
He was just in a salty mood and burnt out from playing difficult levels. He had assumed it was someone pretending it was for mother's day but was actually a troll level so that's why he was being negative - had he not been burnt out from playing annoying levels before and knew it was for mother's day he wouldn't have been so negative. Also he's not great at underwater stuff.
@@Vaquix000 thanks my man!
Sadly that was the first DGR video I ever disliked. I know a few levels were rough in this episode, but he went way too hard on the MD level when it wasn't that bad and had a consietent pattern. Thankfully we all know and love DGR for his kindness so I'm sure it was just an off day.
That's uh, not what debauchery means.
Hey, it’s a colorful metaphor.
My god. Worst levels you ever pleyed (?) Hahahahha
Tell ya what Dave, send me a switch and a copy of SMM2 and I will beat my head against that 'refreshing' level until it is completed for ya:D
9am FIRST! 👋
That refreshing level looks like something Mayro would make for her intentionally awful NSMB hack
Dave, I’ve watched you since 2017 and always loved how wholesome and family friendly you’ve been. But you were way to harsh on the Mother’s Day level. A child made that for their mum. Imagine if someone said that to you’re kids about the level they created for Amanda?
I get we all have bad days but it’s not ok when it goes through days of editing and you don’t think “maybe I’m being too harsh”
I’ve also noticed you’ve been a bit more hostile on Twitch towards chat too. I get it’s frustrating but just time them out or ignore rather than argue
Again, this is just some feedback. It’s not a hate-comment.
If you need a holiday/break you should take one. And I think you do after doing this for 6 years straight and the incident on Twitch a few weeks ago
What incident?
Wat happened?
@@julianlamonica9450 very brief summary; after streaming for 20 minutes he was tired and walked off. Amanda came in and said he was burned out of gaming but still liked to chat to viewers before ending the stream.
Dude is burnt out and needs a holiday
There is no way that level was made by a child. It was just a meme-y trolly level with a MD theme. Dave knew it, I knew it. Dozens of YT viewers apparently had it "whoosh!" right over their heads.
Anybody know the outro track? Was a banger!
