We decided to buy an older Razer Blade Stealth laptop. These were once one of the most expensive laptops and this one is in that category with its' 4K screen and Intel i7. We paid just $500, did we get scammed or are we going to make some money!?

I've had a 2020 Blade 15 for a while now. It's not bad, but it has quirks that could make serious users think twice before getting one. XTU and Throttlestop don't do much with 10th gen CPUs, apparently Intel locked voltage control down tight in response to the Plundervolt vulnerability, so the only TDP control comes from the Synapse software.... which, as you've found, is kinda useless. Apparently it's possible to mod the BIOS, but I haven't summoned up the courage to try it out yet!

I really like the Blade laptops. MacBook-like aesthetics and build quality, but with Windows.

i got my stealth for 500 but the 9th gen i7 and 2070 it just needed a new battery and its still golden ive had it for a year now and i love it

I would say a lot of this would have picked up during lockdowns and where dumped onto the second hand market when everyone went back to work and school. But I do know a lot of people that just moved to laptops rather than using full tower desktops.
I had the mx150. Loved that little laptop. Not a lot of power, but it sure tried. The 1650 version could be had for a few bills more (used) and would be a sizable leap in power.
Seeing that early Mac on the shelf reminds of my Atari MSTE 4gb I have packed away. Taught myself programming on the Atari and Atari Mste. Worked my way up to C++ on it. I still have the HD and programs.
I have razor blade 14 with 3060 rtx, 16gb, ryzen 9 6900hx, 144 hz full hd and it’s, by far, one of the best laptops out there. It fits my needs perfectly for dev, video, design and business requirements. But I’m also always can play triple A title game even while I’m travelling.
this the 2021 version? i believe I have the same options, but the 2023 one with the expandable memory and storage is enticing. Too bad the price is killer

I have a later gen Stealth with a 10th Gen Intel chip and a GTX 1650 Ti. Mine only has a 1080p display, but I really like it. If Razer sold a newer version of this with a 16:10 display and an RTX 3050 or 4050, I would buy one in a second. I tried their Blade 14, but it was significantly heavier, much thicker and much much louder.
They should come out with another Razer book along side it. Best professional laptop I have ever had.
MSI has the sword, look into, i love mine. I think i paid 750. Has RTX 3050

@@imbeautiful9305 Fortnite runs at 100 FPS on a toaster. The fact of the matter is that low-end MSI laptops have atrocious thermals and subpar build quality. Those hinges are liable to snap within a year.

I love my Razer Blade i got the one with the 1660 ti, 2 years ago, and it'S still does great get like 80-90 fps on NFS Unbound.
Just bought a razer blade 17 with a 2080 for $500, only flaw is the battery needs to be replaced but overall great condition.

I have the early 2020 razer blade pro 17 touch with the 4k screen 2080 super and the 10875h I paid around 5 grand for it all said and done. I’d say the screen yeah it’s color accurate and sharp one of the best I’ve ever seen on a laptop,. Performance you can game AAA games easy no problem. And it can edit 4k video like it’s nothing. I’d say you get what you pay for and razer didn’t disappoint. The build quality is perfection.

I have one but with the 1080p panel. You need to use Throttlestop and Asus GPUtweak 2 to get all the power for the cpu and gpu, its a shame that Razer lock it down from factory and we need to use 3rd party software so we can get what the laptop its really capeable of. I saw your gpu was running at 980mhz to 1000mhz thats not normal for a mx150 4gb version, it should run at about 1200-1300 without overclock and 1600-1700 with oc. Undervolt that cpu to -100mv and change the curve manually for the gpu or let gputweak 2 do it for you.
Where are you seeing 1000MHz? Rivatuner overlay here is not set to show core clock, only what I'd assume is VRAM usage.
The $5k razer laptops I've seen have always made me wonder who it's marketed to

@@GoonyMclinux Ik it’s a sarcastic comment. But in reality if your a middle class with no pc knowledge there’s two option. Get a $1k laptop or get a prebuilt. Both alternatives are around $1k for good quality; for a prebuilt you can spend $2k to get premium still better than a laptop that is only useful for like 5 yrs (honestly don’t know how reliable razed laptops are)
@@phoenixwhiler943 Laptops are never worth it, I just refresh my motherboard, cpu and video card every now and again and good to go. I could drop $1500 on a laptop but no real reason at this point. Staying affordable now keeps you affordable later.

At least in Canada I see the RTX 2060 Blade 15 for not a whole lot more than that on FB Marketplace. Much, much better bet for gaming on the go especially with DLSS compatibility. And replacement batteries don't cost a lot either.
The 2070 blade with 10750h is valued at 500$ used, in the us. I have one :)
That U series i7 is spot on in terms of its TDP since its 15 watts only and the rest of the 5 watts is reserved for the iGPU 👍❤

I have a asus tuf f15 rtx 3050 and it runs good for me. It's also my first gaming computer
about the power throttling on the cpu you can fix that by adjusting the TDP levels of the cpu using throttlestop

I bought a msi titan on ebay for cheap, had it for 4 years until i messed up pins on gpu cleaning it, when it shut down after streaming, I opened it, re-pasted, and knocked some pins off. My local shops don't even know what mxm card is or tell me it's expensive to fix. Been so long now it had discharge on top of that.

Just picked one up on eBay 2020 version with a 1650ti max-q, Intel Core i7-1065G7 and a 4k oled touch screen for £500. Hardly used in box. Bargain. De bloating windows and ripping all telemetry and unnecessary processes out and should be a great little laptop. 👍🏼
I already have a gaming rigg...but still I think that would be a super good deal to have a laptop on the side to use for browsing.
I have a Razer book which is so much better for productivity but has 0 gaming ability. I tried to run CoD on it and it gave me 1 frame and then froze. So it has 1 FPS, frame per session.

probably tuff that 16gb ram (if dual channel cause idk alot about laptops if they have dual channel or single channel) helps alot with performance or so I have seen from many videos

the first one that rx6500m should be way more powerful than a 2050 but you will need to add another 8gb more of ram to have dual channel so it runs at the maximum it can
Throttlestop works on most laptops or PCs with an Intel processor.

Probably is the psu. Notebooks psu in general have low wattage even in higher end notebooks.

The 2020 blade 15 base edition doesn't cost much more than this laptop and offers way better CPU and GPU (10750H and RTX 2070 8GB) as well as a larger 15 inch 4k OLED display. It should suit your needs perfectly.
What software do you use by the way? Most 3d modelling software and render engines like maya, blender, vray, etc support hardware raytracing so getting an RTX laptop is a must.

thankfully now i have a 1070 an 7700hq mobile yea im poor i know.
Battery bloat after a year. My dell is 8 years old now and the battery is still in good condition with no bloat
My blade is used as my main entertainment system and is 2 years old with the 10750h and 2070. No noticeable bulging from the battery

Hey Toasty Bros i have a question and i think you guys might know but i cannot find it anywhere but my pc keeps crashing and as soon as it crashes to a black screen and then the gpu fans spin to max ( i have a rx 570) but i look into event viewer and found this "The iommu fault reporting has been initialized." im not entirely sure what to do my pc mainly crashes during more demanding things like gaming and photoshop, etc... and also crashes simultaneously within minutes of one another. Hope you guys see this Much love!
