The purpose of putting the M5 V8 in it is because they want it to be an M5 Touring, the way that it would have come from the factory if BMW made it.. Which means using the OEM M5 parts. That means Mechanical, Styling and everything in between.
Whatever color this M5 wagon he will choose (let's say Alpina blue metallic or Alpina Green that's what i would choose) but on all 4 corners those rusty brakes calipers must 'pop-out' a bit more nicer behind those un-badged OEM - M rims so, them calipers should be painted in a nice red ! and maybe another cool mod +get some Alpina rims if is possible ?+some cool exhaust yeah to breathe & sound better right !? Anyway, i can not wait to see this M5 wagon finished.. ;0)

i tried painting mine on my E46 but after a while they started to fade away. I will def vinyl wrap them in the spring. unless there is a paint out there that can handle canadian winters.
Tip for taking off any grills/garnishes: Use a heat gun on the plastic tabs that hold them in place. Just enough heat to so the plastic isn't as brittle and can be slightly bent out of the way. Haven't broken a tab with this method 🤞🏾

Really enjoying this series. I have a Toyota and Lexus in the driveway, and the ///M3 in the garage, so this is great no matter which vehicle is being addressed. That said, this ///M5 Touring has so much potential to be amazing!
For the window door trim I vote paint. Vinyl will always fail eventually and long before paint. What I have done a few times besides matte trim paint, automotive paint both black and body color match is to sand them really good to get a nice satin look then use a taillight tinted paint to get a black stainless look which turns out really good.
M5 badge is definitely appropriate since you have the whole drivetrain. But then again people will always call you out on it... personally i would go with the badge because it gives a good hint that the car isin't stock. Keep up the good work you guys are doing great!
I love the update! Just grab the High Gloss Shadowline window trim from the M5 donor car. If I remember correctly it should be no problem for the front doors. The trim for the rear doors may not fit though, check RealOEM to be sure. Obviously the far rear left and right windows will need trim from a different source.

DP was so far ahead, but Pete is catching up! I see the potential in this wagon.. However, DP still gets bonus points for being more daring with his choices. The M5 sedan/touring is the blueprint to a guaranteed, safe, clean look, but DP took a chance with the unassuming Lexus and gambled with the wheel choice and it truly paid off. I cant wait for the end!
Love the build so far. As far as wheel options BMW has a lot good looking stock wheels to choose from. One of my favorite wheels on the e39 is the style 32 wheels. As far as the headlights go, I would just run stock facelift lights. Also on my wagon I don't run the number plate insert and I personally like the de-baged look as well as the stock mirrors. Keep up the great work guys and God bless.
Look forward to seeing all the chrome gone! The best way that I have seen to remove old faded / damaged BMW roundels from hoods and trunks that I have seen is to screw in to the middle of them being careful to not screw in to the metal and pull on the screw.

Painted my e46 wagon chrome trim with primer and a decent black spray paint after quick sanding. It allows you to replace the adhesive/tape behind it which when dried out flakes off when washed off. Careful on the rear quarter window area its a 2-part trim with A TON of clips. Use some 3m double sided tape to apply after painted. @SpeedAcademy
When you get to the mufflers, definitely need to consider a pair of the Eisenmann Race units. Had them every e39 M5 I've owned and they are the absolute best. No drone and perfect gurgle
Euro style license plate holder for sure. Modified stock headlights with the angel eyes win but I'd move the mods onto the headlight with the amber indicators and keep the amber everywhere else too. Not against clear but here I liked the amber look more. Good choice removing the chrome. The mirror I also liked factory. New ones are good but I kind of dig the simple lines of the stock mirrors. The new wheels are fantastic. I would have suggested keeping those stock as well for the sleeper factor but this upgrade looks the part. It's my favorite wheel design BMW ever produced.
just use dot 3 brake fluid on the headlights and that yellow will fall off in seconds old school but just works no need to replace the lens just buff with tool
order a new rear plate filler from fcp euro, cut the new piece to fit behind the US license plate so you get the euro look with a "floating" plate. there are also specific screws, washers, and rubber caps to go over the screw heads you will need to button up the look, my wagon has that setup and it looks amazing. make sure to replace the rear plate lights with leds and change the covers, they get dirty and moldy over time.

Vinyl wrap the trip and b pillars in gloss black. OEM shadowline on M were gloss. Headlights, find euro spec xenon and swap out for new projectors from morimoto. Good luck doing the quad exhaust, you’ll need to remove the spare tire and modify the tire well. Otherwise, this is going to be epic!
Ecs tuning has both matte shadow line trim and gloss black trim as well available on their site. I'm in the process of swapping my e39 540iaT into a 6mT and am doing the chrome delete and shadow line replacement onto mine.
The headlights you chose would be my choice. No badge in back and remove the NA spec plate surround. Probably easier to wrap the trim, but paint would hold up better over time.
If you struggle to find shadowline trim, plastidip it. It isn't the genuine article, but it looks just as good, you'd never tell. You're making me want another e39 touring... and I've already had 2!
Keep the chrome trim and tint the windows. Then get some silver 19s with a more negative offset in the front and whatever offset is in the rear keep it. I would also go a little higher in aspect ratio for the tires to fill the wheel wells and also give it a more sleek look. Right now it looks a little cheap. Check out MCM Garage's E39 wagon. They got it spot on.

Eurospec license plate holder, could get some Germen plates to match. Definitely no badges. For headlights I would go with oem Hella headlights with the Morimoto Bi-Xenon kit, with clear indicators. BMW sells factory shadowline kidneys as well as window trim which will help the look alot! E39 M5 Wagon must be the perfect daily! Some Rondell D58 wheels should suit the car with a sleek oem sleeper look.

Keep all retrofits original. Proper headlights are just original facelift ones with white corner, as well as rear, also would recommend using original M sport black headliner, just makes it cosier inside. Best wishes from Europe !
It doesn't require hours of sanding and polishing to restore the headlight. You need to gently rub the lens down with 1000 grit wet and dry, then move to 3000 grit and finally cut the light with the same compound you used on the body work.. Honestly it will take you no more than 5-10 Minuets per light and the results are amazing!!
maybe you could plasti dip the chrome!!! but like the idea to keep the stealth look by keeping the boot badgeless.. great vlog .. looking forward to the final result
This is one of those examples of not liking a rim until I saw it on the car. They really pop once installed. This also makes me remember that my Mazda 6 comes in a wagon overseas but I can't get it here in the U.S. WAGON LIVES MATTER

Definitely do a euro spec license plate. And to the trim side, i would have painted the trim all black. Also the trim on the doors. And you have to tint the fish bowl out! Definitely do a exhaust swap

Headlights...you are doing an M5 conversion...keep the OEM M5 units for a full conversion.

be extremely careful removing the trim below the windows, it can bend pretty easily.

My favourite OEM wheels for the E39 M5 is either the Style 37s or Style 66s. They look awesome on the car.

You can wrap the chrome trim with shadowline vinyl which is available online. That would match the glossy shadowline front grills.
Looks great. Once that chrome trim on the Windows is gone, it'll be even better. If it were me, I'd get rid of the roof rails too.

Option number two is actually a North American spec Y2K M5 Headlight. Euro is full clear corner, 2000 US M5 had the partial amber corner.
Definitely get the m5 badge on it, also once the hood has been painted a new BMW badge as well

When I was much younger I did the chrome trim delete on my e30 with black electrical tape. Worked for me at the time 😅
I love how the car is looking, but it looks like it would really benefit from like a 15mm spacer. Also, definitely voting for M5 badge on the back.

With the headlights its up to you. I personally would do a retrofit and throw some Morimoto MLED 2.0 projectors in there. Get the face lifted lights.

The M5 definately came with a chrome grille, both pre- and post facelift.

Euro Spec, no emblems, blackout chrome trim with vinyl if you don't want to pay for paint. Really enjoy the Conti DWS06, all around good tire.
Run the OEM headlights. Keep it classy. The third set you showed is the best. Just buff out the headlights with a kit. Takes less than an hour.

Keep all retrofits original. Proper headlights are just original facelift ones with white corner, as well as rear, also would recommend using original M sport black headliner, just makes it cosier inside.

Euro spec plate surround! Also an M5 badge would be cool, like a double bluff.
It doesn't require hours of sanding and polishing to restore the headlight.
You need to gently rub the lens down with 1000 grit wet and dry, then move to 3000 grit and finally cut the light with the same compound you used on the body work.. Honestly it will take you no more than 5-10 Minuets per light and the results are amazing!!

This is one of those examples of not liking a rim until I saw it on the car. They really pop once installed. This also makes me remember that my Mazda 6 comes in a wagon overseas but I can't get it here in the U.S. WAGON LIVES MATTER

Getting vibes of M539 here with the side trim chrome! OEM lights and M5 badge for my taste since it’s going to be a one of a kind (to my knowledge) I’d want people to know it’s a ‘proper’ M5

Definitely do a euro spec license plate. And to the trim side, i would have painted the trim all black. Also the trim on the doors. And you have to tint the fish bowl out! Definitely do a exhaust swap
