    All of these type 20v max type battery packs, from milwaukee, dewalt, B&D, porter cable, bauer, bosch, etc., all use 18650 Li-Ion batteries inside. Up to 2.5ah just use a single set of 5 18650 batteries in series (3.7v x 5) -- what is changing is the mAh capacity of the individual 18650 cells, from 1500mAh to 2500mAh. That is why the battery has greater capacity but the pack is still the same size. When you go from 3.0Ah to 6Ah, then the battery size increases as it requires two complete sets of 18650 batteries in parallel (1500mAh x 2 to 3000mAh x 2).

    I have 4 B&D 20 V. tools and 3 1.5 V batteries and 2 small chargers. I always keep 2 batteries on the chargers in rotation and find I get much better run time than that you get. Totally satisfied. The only problem I have, which isn't the batteries, is with keyless drill chucks. My arthritic fingers don't have the strength to get them really tite.

    I jumped up to 6 Ah batteries for my B + D yard tools. Weed Wacker and Pole Saw. With the Weed Wacker the 1.5 Ah was good for about 20 - 25 minutes. With the 6 Ah battery, I get tired before the battery does.

    As long as it is 20v you should be able to use the 4 amp safely and you will notice quite longer run time

    A lot of times Vanon made aftermarket batteries for laptops that the manufacturer no longer provided. When my dad's BD pack went bad I checked it out and they used 1500mah cells which is extremely cheap of them. I rebuilt his old pack with 3400mah cells that also provided more amps to the tools and double the runtime.

    Fully agree! These replacement batteries are better than the original as they have more Ah. I just got a 20V (7500 Ah) from Amazon for only 35$, this battery will have my grass trimmer run for 45 mins or longer! Impressive!

    Just picked up a 5Ah battery to use with my b&d sweeper, sure it’s bigger/heavier but it’s going it be awesome to not run out of juice while I clean both front & back yards.

    I recommend getting one of the black and decker 20v flashlights. What kills these batteries the most is letting them sit charged, or letting them sit empty. If you haven't used them in a while, just pop them in the flashlight overnight and let them drain, and charge them again. Or do the 20-80% method.
    Use it or lose it kind of thing

    • @stinkycheese804
      @stinkycheese804 4 роки тому +2

      There is no need whatsoever, nor any benefit, to exercise them by running them down in a flashlight before recharge. This was more applicable in the old days of constant voltage cutoff for NiCd or NiMH. For Li-Ion, that just shaves one more recharge cycle off their total lifespan.

    I bought two of the 2000Ma batteries from ebay vendor goodebuying they worked great until the third time I charged them then one of them quit charging red light came on charger and battery no longer works. I contacted vendor three times and got no response buyers beware of ebay vendor "goodebuying" the other battery still works good, but vendor should have replaced defective battery

      Cheap cells can be a fire hazard.

  • @Adam-jq1bm
    @Adam-jq1bm 3 роки тому +1

    Writing 2.0 AH instead of 1.5 AH on the side of a battery does not mean the batteries inside are any better. Open both up and see what the actual batteries inside are. You're getting extra capacity/power on the new battery likely because it is much newer, or they are using more of the battery's charge on each charge/discharge cycle which will reduce the life of the battery.

  • @ccdogpark

    The biggest problem with these lithium batteries is that if you forget and leave them charging indefinitely,
    that will kill the battery pretty quickly.
    Do you know the difference between a Type 2 and a Type 3 Black & Decker Lithium powered tool ?

I recently just got a 20V 3.0AH aftermarket battery for my B+D cordless drill but I am a bit skeptical at the moment to charge it in the original B+D charger - My original B+D battery is an 18V 2.0AH, hence the concern.

    I got 2, 3amp to replace the 1.5 Amp OEM. The replacement 1.5 OEM was $45, I got two 3amp's for $30 delivered. They charge quick and they run the tools longer. Seeing as they're so cheap, I say, get a bunch. Like most guy's I hate running out of juice when I'm doing something so it'll save me from destroying a tool out of pure rage. Joking! I'm not like that and i always find it so stupid when I see an idiot, on site, trash his own perfectly good tool that just might need a tweak. It takes alot of hard work and time to build up your personal tool crib, so take care of your shit as much as you can, IMO

    B&D batteries are the worst ones

  • @stinkycheese804
    @stinkycheese804 4 роки тому +1

    You had low expectations from mediocre quality tools using the smallest OEM packs available. For that reason, you are one of the few who can say that the generic packs better the performance for a lower price. Normally, the generic packs are crap junk compared to the OEM packs of the same capacity, and have fewer recharge cycles before dying.
    Not sure whether that is a good or bad thing. I would raise my expectations instead because the whole situation is more of a statement about how disappointing the B&D tools are with their low capacity batteries.
