I've read a lot about problems with the car after the EGR was blocked off or switched off. Some people wrote that they'd even experienced a loss of power over time. When they reconnected the EGR the power loss problem was gone. I own a 2005 Berlingo van, same 2.0HDi engine. I'm thinking of cleaning the EGR and keep it in place to avoid problems like that. Previously i had a 2001 Berlingo van with the 2.0HDi engine, with that car i did switch off the EGR by pulling the vacuum hose and blocking it off (added another hose which i blocked off for the other end ofcourse), that worked fine with no issues at all. With this car however, i'm in doubt about what to do. I'd far rather disconnect or remove the EGR but as a former mechanic i wouldn't like the strange problems some people get after doing so.
Bring back the old days with distributers and carbs eh!! I have never had power problems after removing an EGR. Probably best to clean out and replace it. So many things get clogged up like Cats and DPF's. Thanks for your interesting comments and good luck with it. Mick
@@menditwithmick4320 haha, well i never said that. I just heard about people who had problems with their car after doing what you did. The 2.0HDi and de Berlingo are a pretty decent combination, but the electrics... well.. They're also French.
Glad you have no issues. Hopefully it performs a little better. I prefer to remove the valve and blank off. If it was clogged and stuck in the open position it would just keep sending soot into the intake manifold.
Hello. I wonder could you possibly help, I have an 05 Suzuki grand Vitara 2.0 TD , the egr valve may be giving me problems, it looks the same as yours but is on the left hand side,. What are the clamps on the end of the metal pipe , and how do you open and close them, by the way did the blanking make any difference. thanks
hi on my Berlingo 2003 i have noticed it has started to lose power especially when changing gears you have got to give it a good rev other wise you get a juddering and you got to change down again because of power loss do you think blanking off the egr would stop this problem thanks.
Good job I have the same engine set up in my Citreon dispatch 03 not as much room at back to get to the EGR.Do these engines have a turbo my mechanic at mot station said they did but I don't think my version has no intercooler as far as I can see at front. Will attempt same mod on mine this weekend

I've had new injectors, new clutch, blanked off EGR and a new MAF meter. However, I'm still getting a low pressure on idol error and periodically the engine drops into limp mode with no power above 3000 revs. The mechanic thinks there's an issue with the MAF not being genuine Shitron?

Hi. Yes, the vacuum opens the EGR valve, so removing the vacuum would prevent the gas flow into the inlet manifold, providing the EGR is not clogged with carbon build up and operating correctly. If the EGR is clogged and either stuck in the open position or not fully closed then it will cause poor performance. Personally I prefer to get rid of it completely and clean all the carbon build up from the inlet manifold. I have done this on two vehicles now with a noticable improvement in performance. It is all down to personal preference. This video merely shows the removal and blanking off. On a modern motorised EGR it would show a fault code so an EGR delete would have to be performed using a scan tool if the EGR was removed. Thanks for your comment and for watching the video.
Make sure all your vacuum hoses are sealed and no leaks. I removed the EGR to stop all the carbon build up in the intake manifold and let the engine breathe easier. My Berlingo is run ning bad, I unplugged the MAF sensor and it is running good with lots of power. I have got a new MAF sensor and will be fitting it this weekend. I will upload a video of how to do it.

mines had a number of issues causing power loss: clutch, injector seals, EGR valve and MAF. keeps dropping into limp mode.
Did you ever find out what the issue was rosco boy ?
Having similar issues think it may be fuel pump or filter
Omg all you have to do is take the suction pipe off ,hit the EGR VALVE A FEW TIMES AT IT SHUTS 😮
top job fella . ive been looking at mine and thinking of just using on plate on the end of the bypass cooler . did you have to have it mapped out to

Didn't need mapping out as its not wired to the ECU.

What do you mean by low pressure on idle?
I do not think the MAF would be faulty if it is new. I have always fitted aftermarket ones.

If you are getting a PO400 then you may have to do an EGR delete with diagnostic equipment if you remove the EGR.
When i remove Egr on Berlingo like you do i must delet with computer egr?

Kako isključiti EGR u Winols?
This egr is mechanical one
You don't need winols
Try doing it on previous shape car it looks a nightmare.52 reg
Yeah they are straight forward enough, just awkward to access.
Could you not just use a blanking plate under the EGR and leave it in place 😉
You mean fit a blank plate between egr and inlet manifold?
If so, I think its a lot easier to just remove it altogether.
