Hilarious video man. Good on you for being brave enough to be silly. It's always been missing in skateboarding. Too many people obsessed with looking cool.
I remember seeing a video of a japanese skater showing how to pose and he mentioned a lot of the same stuff: wear on the board, holes in the shoes, etc. One thing he added that you didn't was to fake an ankle injury. Helps a lot if you know how to ride a board but can't do tricks "oh yeah im just cruising, I can't really tweak my ankle at all to ollie or nothin"
hey aron! I hope you've been well man. I've been following the channel for about 6 years now... crazy how time flies. thanks for all the content over the years... It would be awesome to do a retro rippers on Todd Falcon. I would be shocked if you didn't know of him or were not a fan. the dude is quite interesting. hope to see you back soon, rad rat!
In the 90s (in Europe at least) it was common to see ppl leaving ½ inch just in front of the rear truck bolts free of grip tape - in order to easily tell tail front nose I guess. Many pro models actually started coming out with a thin stripe of graphics right where most ppl made the cut... usually just a quote or a small piece of the theme from the graphics. Later on some ppl also left a similar ½ inch just behind the nose bolts.
Love these types of videos where you just get to nerd out about skating. You always seem a lot more enthusiastic doing these as well compared to your gameplay. Keep em up!
That was a lot of fun. There's certainly plenty of Jerrys out there who will buy the latest gadget thinking that it will give them some incremental help with their boards.
The skate shop could put a different colored bolt to tell the difference between nose and tail if you buy hardware that is like that because they’re just going to assemble what you pick out
Making the shoes look used is only level one. To really sell that you have to also wear down the laces or better yet break them and tie them back together with a knot. Also, never wear shorts or show your shins in any way... unless you are willing to smack them with the board intentionally. Skaters have scars! Every skater in history has shown up with random bruises all over their shins, if not road rash all over the entire side of their body face and all. You can't be a skater and not have the occasional visible injury. Even the pros get busted up once and awhile.
Road rash sucks, especially when it starts weeping. I have a permanent indentation on my thigh just under my hip bone from wiping out while longboarding. I was wearing pants, but I was carrying my pocketknife (didn't make that mistake again). Still feels weird when I bump that spot against things. Makes foam rolling that area impossible. 🤣
Just wipe out hard and get a visible scrape on your knees or elbows. Then just carry your board and tell people you’re still recovering and have to take it easy. But if you wipe out you may as well learn and in the process you’ll get hurt
You see all TikToks talking about posers when it’s like have you guys ever actually seen an poser like the closest thing you see is just someone who’s starting out sitting to the side and they might be a bit nervous and don’t wanna fall in front of a bunch of people
"are the posers in the room with us right now?" But people who bought very expensive skateboards they barely used or who spent most of their time sitting never really learning tricks were definitely a thing back when I used to skate. I guess that's what people think of when they talk about "posers".
I don't think it's unique to skateboarders. It's just stereotypical teenaged clique gatekeeping. I see the same behavior in music, and gaming (I equate it to the no true Scotsman fallacy). Skateboarding is associated with cultural ideals, clothing styles, and it looks cool. It's inevitable that some kids want to imitate their perception of what a skater is. Do posers exist? Yeah. Does it matter? Not one bit.
Skaters have always been like this. I remember when I was in high school back in 2006 and people were saying this. You were not allowed to wear skate brand clothing without being picked on. Skaters were bullys. It’s a lot more chill these days I think but I’m old now so what do I know.
The right side no-grip stripe is for skaters repping the East Coast (right side of US). I don't think anyone ever really did that with the West Coast/left side of board, maybe since there are so many Cali skaters to begin with.

Rad rat is baked
He does seem faintly off his box. But I don't think he'd do that.
Actually isn't he from Colorado and weed is legal there?
colorado will do that to you
Stoned immaculate
Not an issue for me lol.

RadRat just finished watching BAKER2G before recording this
The term “switch” wasn’t used in ‘88 and Ollies put holes in the outside of your shoes!
i did the thing where you leave a corner ungripped but thats only because i didnt feel like regripping
That was a lot of fun. There's certainly plenty of Jerrys out there who will buy the latest gadget thinking that it will give them some incremental help with their boards.
Amazing video as always!
Yo Rad Rat, can you share a link to the mag issue you discovered this article please?
You know so much underground shit, I hope you get on the nine club!

That title was a nice surprise

Great video
You mark your board to differentiate the nose and tail. Whether it’s a bare strip, a drawing, or a colored bolt.
MxPx?
that's not poser, that's efficient
Or ride a shaped deck.
Was the picture of Tony Hawk from ask Rad Rat? Could you beat a pro in a game of skate? I think you said you’ve got a good chance on Tony

sooooo shiny. great stuff. and so shiny. bit distracting though ;)
pro tip : do noseslides on the tail for extra cred. and if you get called out , just say you are practicing switch fakie noseslides
Hahaha this was awesome 🤘🏼
Are you gonna review riders republic skateboarding?
RAD RENAISSANCE!
Very funny
You sound like flipping oldschool
Skateboarders are one of the few groups egotistical enough to think people pretend to be them.

You've never been outside, huh?

The wallride one is just trolling outsiders and I love it
Didn’t Braille try a board with rollers instead of rails at one point?
Make sure to the board scratches in the middle are closer to the front truck for lip slides on ledges 😂
Rad Rat!!! ✌️🥰
Rad ray glow up man is a legend beyond legends
“If you can make it look like you’ve taken a photo next to Tony Hawk, people will DEFINITELY think you skate!” Comn man this shit is corny
Is your brain not screwed in enough?
I don't film anything cause i'm a real skater, only posers get film and get paid 😂😂😂
