Do you have any other tricks for mentally recovering from a major injury?

Skateboarding is all about taking calculated risks. The being aware of the danger element & still skateboarding by ones own will is when you start progressing

I’m a bike dude but just broke my ankle. I thought I’d bounce back quick but with each day week I’m still in a cast still can’t put weight and I’m nervous to get back on the bike now.
    Very very helpful video

Someone who only skated drops stairs and ledges almost 20 years ago the cheat code I found to getting back and dealing with injury is the mini ramp nothing really compares to being able to just do the most basic run over and over so you still get the satisfaction without the bales this is coming from someone who did not learn any transition skills when day we're young

Yo HEAT THERAPY is a big one.
Sprains, deep bruises, aches, and pulled muscles mend far faster when you apply heat regularly.
Hot water soaking, or using a therapeutic heat pad are the go-to

I am 83 years old and I am happily married for 65 years. . I remember when I first stepped onto a skateboard and I could take a whipping with no issues. . Now I just LOOK at a skate board and my knees hurt !

    1) Consider switching to Flatland only; 2) Don´t skate street for several months - only building up consistency on flat ; 3) extensive warmup (doing min. 3 perfect lands of every trick, which is important to you); 4) Get used to doing tricks with full speed: If you are too afraid to do an Ollie over 2 decks with full speed, then forget jumping on a curb

    R.I.C.E
    Rest, ice, compress, elevate.
Don't be a wuss. Get some on your board and go!

Just be like the pros and take steroids to recover quickly. Not saying they all took it, but the x games never tested for them. I don't blame them though, you recover much quicker that way and it's not as dangerous when used in that way as opposed to the way it's used in other sports to bulk up.

Andrew. I would skate again, but just stay away from transition. Give yourself time before you even think about dropping in. Skate flat, curbs, ledges, banks. Ease yourself back into skating.

I fractured my left femur in 2022 skateboarding and haven’t quit since rehabbing the leg for about 4 months

It isn't skateboarding unless your mouth turns into a faucet and all four of your limbs are in casts by the end of the session.
