  • Thanks to Parshal over at the Snipershide forum for the idea for this test. Quick Anneal case annealer "Test 2" is test anneal same case 3 times to see if there are any major changes or to find the average time for annealing. Sample size 5.
Federal brass 223 rem Results - Percentage (time)
    Case 1 54% (3.7) 53% (3.9) 52% (3.7)
    Case 2 54% (3.7) 53% (3.7) 53% (3.7)
    Case 3 54% (3.5) 53% (3.4) 53% (3.4)
    Case 4 54% (3.8) 53% (3.8) 52% (3.6)
    Case 5 53% (3.8) 53% (3.8) 53% (3.8)
    Averages -
    Case 1 - 53%, 3.7666666 seconds
    Case 2 - 53.333%, 3.7 seconds
    Case 3 - 53.333%, 3.433 seconds
    Case 4 - 53%, 3.733 seconds
    Case 5 - 53%, 3.8 seconds
    Averages for all combined -
    Percentage - 53.133333%
    Time - 3.686666 seconds
Doesn't seem like the cases were ruined and likely are still usable but I cannot be certain. For safety reasons, you should probably discard the cases if you conduct a multiple "test anneal" function.

The more I look into this machine the more I am leaning towards it over the AMP

It's a good annealer for sure, despite the case anomaly detection feature being of limited use (my opinion). If a person is used to a flame annealer and the "glow method" of setting anneal times and aren't bothered by it, I don't think anyone would be disappointed by the Quick Anneal at all. If mentally a person has to have a preprogrammed time set for them based on a case analyzed, the AMP would be for them, as that mental hurdle would be too great for the Quick Anneal to overcome.

It'll be able to anneal cases longer than approximately 0.750" - 0.770"

really interested in the quick anneal, cant find a price anywhere, even on their website. sent them a purchase request. how is the reliability with it? had any issues?

Nope, no issues but I'm only a couple hundred shy of 3000 anneals. The induction coils and power supply unit doesn't seem like it's weakening or have cooling/heating issues. I judge that based on the recorded time settings I have for my cases and it did not need adjustment to get a dull orange glow.
I haven't performed maintenance on it other than wipe it with a clean towel. There's no service maintenance interval in the manual and while there's antifreeze/coolant inside of the unit, I don't think it's supposed to be user serviceable and should likely last a "lifetime".
I don't think they sell direct to US consumers anymore, but when they did, I emailed them direct for a price quote and invoice and it was 18540 South African Rand, which at the time converted into around $990 USD. Now the conversion rate means it's roughly $1051.90 USD.
Now, they'll likely refer you to the US distributor Mountain Forged, which sells it for around $1395, or their UK distributor if you're somewhere around Europe, and I don't think they have a Canadian distributor (so you may have to order direct if you're from Canada), and they may have a Australian/New Zealand distributor, but not sure on that either.
