Hey! Just got this gun. Didn’t know and don’t care that it’s marketed towards women. I like to think the f stands for Frodo because I got small hands! Fits very nice in the hand
Just went to BassPro today to test the feel and it felt great in my hand. Also I love the look of it but then I also tried the Sig 365 XL Macro and it was reaaaaaaly nice as well! Such decisions!
I have two Walther pistols, one is the Q4 SF, the other is a 4" PDP-F. I love both, but the F series fits my small(ish) hands much better. A little chunky for concealed carry (at least summer carry), but otherwise a fine gun.
Great review. Did you feel any weird feedback in the trigger on the reset? My wife and I both shot a rental at a local range last week and we both felt a strange sting like sensation on the trigger after the striker fired.
Thanks for the review. 'watching the YT vid as I type. So far, I didn't see what backstrap was being used as I believe the PDP-F comes with two. I realize this is a TXGunVault friend's gun, which probably influenced what could be done to or with the gun. Also, I was unable to determine if the authori's hand is the same or larger than my own (typically a size-L glove size). Now at 1/6/24, these guns are still hard to find in stock in my Reno NV area. Whether this is due to Walther availability or FFLs' decisions as to what to stock I don't know.
Would this be a good all-purpose alternative to the G19 for a lady with smaller hands? What about the Sig P320 X-Compact? I've shot the G19 multiple times and while it's always been reliable, I can't seem to get past how thick the grip is in my hands. I do wonder about concealed carry for all of the ones I mentioned, though.
@@thetexasgunvault I haven't found an F-model near me to try, but I did try the standard PDP Compact and it performed pretty well. I have yet to find an X-Compact for rental at all, though.
Good morning Jason, more of those marvelous Walther pistols. I a getting more convinced I need one or two. But I was in my local gun shop yesterday and there was a used but nearly new Ruger 1911A-1 in 45ACP that needed a home. I will tell you how that works out first. Cheers
I love mine. Also a sigsaur 365 fan. The Walther is a bit larger. A very small amount harder to conceal. But truly a wonderful piece. Was hoping it was going to out shoot my Sig. But didn't. There both pretty darn accurate.
I just wish they made a paddle option like the P99 and PPQ. I'm looking between a PDP-F 3.5 or a tan frame HK VP9 Tactical, I'm currently leaning towards the VP because HK is doing a mag rebate thing right now where you can 4 mags with a purchase of a VP9 or P2000.
Anyone know the name of the Pink Hearing Protection his wife is wearing? They seem to be noise canceling and I want to get a pair for my mother. Thanks!
I already had 3 PDP’s 4/4.5/5 from Germany so I thought I’d try the 3.5 F series. The trigger is not the same on the F series - it’s kind of sticky / crunchy. I actually tried to return the gun when I compared it to my other PDP’s. I tried 2 other F series guns while back at the store and those triggers were crunchy too. Since a return was not possible I worked the action and trigger hundreds of times and lubed the crap out of it. It’s sort of acceptable now… especially since I compared the F series trigger to my Glocks… Those Glock triggers are so horrible that anything else seems pretty darn good. 🤪
@@thetexasgunvault The trigger activates a control arm (linkage) that was fitting too tight against the polymer frame. I had to pry it back a bit and lubricate between the frame and the control arm. Also, the safety catch on the trigger itself seemed to be overly aggressive at snagging the gun frame. I didn’t want to file it down for fear I would defeat it entirely but some teflon lube seemed to mitigate the issue. This was never an issue with the German made compact and full size PDP’s. Another thing was recoil spring - kind of an awkward two section design. They said it was supposed to be 20% easier to operate the slide. Mine seems to be at least 20% harder / stiffer. I racked back the slide, locked it in place and lubricated the guide rod. I might store the gun with the slide locked back hoping to weaken that spring a bit. Basically this gun is tighter than the German made equivalents so it feels stiff and a bit clunky to me. I just assumed it would be buttery smooth like my other PDP’s and was a bit shocked to learn that was not the case.
A lot of people shoot with the pad of their finger brotha. I'm 6' 2" and dont have the issue you're having when you loop your finger sll the way through
I think I'd puke if my PDP-Fs were pink. 🤣 Still, it bears mentioning that they ARE available in colors and in fact, I saw the 4" in a deep plum. I might've considered it but color PDPs weren't eligible for the free red dot promotion.

I think i am going to go with the Frodo definition now too!
Walter PDP F
The F stands for
Fuk around and find out
This gun is rad. F means fabulous.
You got the PDP-Fighter version!
@@Shadow__133 Beat me to it 😁👍
Very thorough review! I've viewed several other reviews of this Walther. I was on the fence until now. Thank you.
I am honored that you enjoyed it and found if useful.
Thanks for the video. I like the PDP-F a lot. I put the larger backstrap on the grip, which helps a lot.
I think for my hands that would work too.

Both are great pistols. That is a tough choice.
The DPT (Dynamic Performance Trigger) is the Metal Flat Trigger
Thank you for the information.

No problem. I've the PPQ & PDP-F. Love them both. One is my nightstand gun the other my CCW
Holy moly you dont get to see ppl shoot that fast that often! that was pretty cool sir!
Thank you so much!
Can you carry this comfortably everyday. Im 5"6 140. Just want to know would i be able to edc with this and be comfortable doing everyday things.
Yes you can. I feel it is well balanced in that way.

I understand why so many like the F type
Lok Grips sells the slim line grip for the Q4 SF. It basically gives the SF the same grip feel/ergonomics as the PDP F
I wear Large/XL gloves, do you think the regular PDP is too large for CCW (PDP 4" compact vs PDP-F)?
The F is a nice balance
I wear XL to XXL gloves depending on brand and for some reason this felt fantastic in my hands. Like it was made for my hands.
F is better imo, and I have pretty big hands
Great review. Did you feel any weird feedback in the trigger on the reset? My wife and I both shot a rental at a local range last week and we both felt a strange sting like sensation on the trigger after the striker fired.
I did not feel that. I am sorry you had an issue with that one you shot.

Very interesting. I did not know these were hard to come by. I do not know my hand size, but maybe I should get it measured.

I believe so. I would still recommend trying one out before you buy, but I think it is more female friendly.

Hey brother I just moved to league city. Do you know of a good outdoor range down here south of Houston? Awesome content.
Sorry I don't. I am in the Dallas area.

I believe those are Walkers.
You didn’t mention it’s optic ready.
Sorry I left it out.
sorry about my multiple comments, they initially disappeared so I re wrote them and suddenly they all appeared. OOPS
It is ok Andrew
I was so close to buying this gun last week. I backed out because of the sights. C'mon Walther, can't even put night sights on a $600 gun. Wow.
I agree.

I bet they are. I know there are some very creative people out there.

You can set the Walther dynamics trigger and drop it in
I have absolutely no issue with the angle of the mag release. Get your hand up in that dovetail!
