      You wouldn't know where that was by any chance ?? Sounds like my car that was stolen . Was similar , same coulor and similar wheels . They were centerline rims. It was also an hz not hq. I last heard it may have been out hellensville way. Really gutted I lost that car.

    Even someone experienced can crack those windscreens when removing them. The bright side is that they are available new with the tinted top like WB models.

    Yes the front can come off in one go. Two bolts at back bottoms of guards. 3 or 4 on inside of car on each side. One each side on radiator support. Got to also pull front bumper bar. Guess it's been done by now lol. Going to watch all your videos and catch up on the progress.

    "In any system of energy, Control is what consumes energy the most.
    Time taken in stocking energy to build an energy system, adding to it the time taken in building the system will always be longer than the entire useful lifetime of the system.
    No energy store holds enough energy to extract an amount of energy equal to the total energy it stores.
    No system of energy can deliver sum useful energy in excess of the total energy put into constructing it.
    This universal truth applies to all systems.
    Energy, like time, flows from past to future".

    The biggest mistake I ever made (in my opinion) was ripping off the vinyl roof on my HQ Stato and painting it.
    Each time I see a Stato, stock or modified with a vinyl roof I drool

      @The-State-of-it  Рік тому

      Yeah I was cringing a bit taking mine off but I didn't have a choice with the roof having to be repaired and inspected for body cert. Why dont you get your one re done?

      We sold the Stato to finance a big block HQ Coupe conversion.
      The sold the couoe to finance a house purchase.
      2 LS 1 Tonners and 1 small block Kingswood later, and I'm back on the scent of a old HQ Statesman in the Flinders Ranges north of Adelaide.
      HQs are in the blood

    If anyone wants to know, the windscreen sealing compound has a wire element that runs all the way around the window inside the sealant, you hook it the a battery and the wire heats up and melts the sealant so you can pull the glass out.

      That will work , better with 24 volt providing the wire is still intact. Or CRC ,WD 40 and a snap off retractable razor blade soak seal inside and out and blade work slow and gradual .it will be messy but it works

    • @tonymontana897
      @tonymontana897 Рік тому

      Yes, that's correct. I remember using some 0.6mm mig wire to slice my way through a windscreen on my XD Falcon. Those are glued in the same way as the old Holdens.

Shes gone to a good home, and the guy keeps me updated on the resto, witch is going really well. You got +1 sub look forward to the build :)

      @@The-State-of-it Yeah that photo was when I first got it, before all the bog fell out, I wasn't too mad about the bog tho. I had 3 years of driving it around pretty much as my daily doing skids and driving it to car shows.. I swapped a Peice of Sh*t bmw for it.. Winning. Got it pink stickered for being dereged omw home from kaipra car show 2010 an never drove it again. And then the dreaded rising damp struck in the shed it lived in.

    Im watching as from that era and loved my HQ Prem. I believe there are plenty of rust repair panels you can buy for the front end? Not sure if they did the rear panels for statesmen.
    Maybe getting the shell acid dipped so you know exactly what you have?

      I don't see Holden being that upset over some bolt on wheels and lower springs, I'm not modifying the body or interior. Certainly no question your Statesman is very impressive restored to original.
