Rod, Hello from Australia. I am like you were- questioning the whole Christianity movement. I really am learning so much from your series. Your level of knowledge is astounding.
At the end, every offering was a sacrifice. When you have to give up an animal from your livestock or some other kind of offer, that requires you a sacrifice. Im a Catholic Christian and I have lots of respect and gratitude the the Jewish people. Also I get say that most Jewish do not really understand Christianity doctrine . God bless us all .
I don't see how people can claim the laws in the bible are to be obeyed, when you, rightfully, disregard offenses where people are stoned to death. If you ignore these laws, doesn't it make the rest of them irrelevent also?
If animals can be used for food...then it's also logical that our creator can use animals to teach us Godly principles. The innocent animal without blemish is a representation of God himself. I agree that they are to draw us closer to our Father.
It should be understood that a careful reading of Genesis reveals that God did not ask Cain or Able or anyone else for a sacrifice of any kind. The story just points out that they brought sacrifices to God..It is not until centuries latter that God describes how sacrifices must be done etc. This points out to me that God didn't need or want sacrifices, only that He was working with an apparent natural tendency of man, and attempting to make it an elevated experience..This becomes self evident when you learn that all cultures make sacrifices to their God or gods at some point in their past... P.S. good video, I subscribed .
The Rabbi should confine himself to Jewish matters, for when he touches on Christianity he begins to misrepresent the truth and becomes liable to committing lashon hara/evil speaking. Alternatively, let him study Christianity in order to avoid the danger. I am a Christian who became tired of Jews and Judaism being misrepresented by the Church, therefore, I have spent the last 10 years attending an Orthodox Synagogue, learning Hebrew and studying Judaism. The result is that I am able to help Christians appreciate Jews and Judaism and there is, consequently, far less of that misrepresentation that can become lashon hara/evil speaking.
