Oh God, the park near the first store... I remember the old woman asked me to find that house, and sat waiting in the park while I looked. After a while, I gave up and decided I'd do it another time. Eventually, I finished the game... And remembered I had left her sitting there, for weeks, in rain and snow, through all weather, and had just left the country entirely... The only bright side is nobody ever uses the park other than her, so it isn't like kids will find the bones...
I'm playing through the game currently, and whenever this soundtrack comes up I just sit there admiring it, there's just something about slow and solemn soundtracks that always captivates me. This one for some reason makes me think about how this is what Japan would've been like in the 80s, as I walk around the neighbourhood in the game, taking in all the sights. It's a feeling of pure nostalgia, even though I've never been to Japan.
I got it too after finishing the game for the first time a year ago... even tho i never played shenmue before cause i never had a dreamcast as a kid, i still instantly got that strange strong nostalgia feeling after beating it. And it also easily became one of my all time fav games.
I also picked it up a year ago but dropped it because I got busy, I need to restart it and try it again. Even still, this song is stuck in my head all this time
@@szkokee I just got done with both games yesterday and while there is some outdated gamedesign everything else in these games is just so good. Only thing I thought the entire time is why i never played it earlier.
Honestly this is definitely my top 5 favorite Shenmue songs. FREE 2 is absolutely amazing. So powerful, so atmospheric, so real, so dark, so depressing. I could go on and on, but every time I played this game I felt like I was really there with Ryo, on the dark and rainy days :D such a beautiful soundtrack in this game.....the feels are real!!! Another thing is it matches the dramatic storyline of asking around the different shops on finding the black car that was speeding through Dobuita
Yes! This exactly. I think you get the feeling this soundtrack gives me, it's hard for me to describe it in words, but I felt like I was actually living vicariously through Ryo. I'd just walk around and look at the homes, taking in all the scenery while this music played in the background. It was definitely a vibe.
Beautifully put! All the "free" soundtracks have this certain vibe to them. Like you said, you really feel like being part of the world. That's what I love so much about the early 2000s era, that games were a little more laid back than now, they were timeless...
Loved the FREE tracks you have. The fact that u made an hour long extended version is beyond awesome. You should extend another FREE when you have the time. They're so trippy. takes me back to that world.
I'm actually trying out Google Earth VR just to go down memory lane and damn... nostalgia is hitting me like a ton of a bricks. Even more when I have this track playing and you set the time in the afternoon in GEVR.
Is there any collection of Shenmue music that includes everything? I have downloaded 2 or 3 in the past and this track (and I think others) aren't in it.
Shenmue never had a bad track, ever.
Fact
you're so right
This music goes well with the weather outside. It's nice and cloudy, and this song reflects that mood.

Seeing an image of Tom slowly pan out with this playing is eerie
This is perhaps my favorite song from this game. Something about it man

LOVE IT !!! The shenmue games really are something very special, a gaming experience never to be forgotten, i need shenmue 3 !!!
2018 and I'm playing both on PS4 8-)
i hope shenmue 4 is more like the classics
Shenmue III added mechanics that weren’t necessary and it just wasn’t a very good game.
This plays when you learn about the Harbour as I recall ^-^ I always loved the little chimes at 0:27
i dont even remember.. it's been so long. but it feels familiar :)
