I'll give credit, this is a pretty excellent list. Most videos like this give absolute trash lists but this one actually seems pretty solid. I personally would re-order many of the games but I believe anyone would be hard pressed to state that any one game doesn't deserve or belong to be here. For me personally, I don't think Mario 2 should be in the top 10 but I can't blame anyone for thinking it should.
good list. It's really tough to replace anything. I certainly understand the significance and impact of Super Mario 1 but I'd drop that in favor of Final Fantasy or Mega Man 3 or maybe River City Ransom for something a little less common or Ninja Garden or Tecmo Super Bowl or Double Dragon 2 or Battletoads. I'm always a sucker for TMNT 2 the Arcade Game. Too many good choices on the NES.
My personal top ten would include SMB 3, Zelda, Tetris, Dr. Mario, Contra, Metroid, Batman, SMB, and I'm not sure about what I'd put in the last couple slots. I'd definitely leave out SMB2 and Zelda 2, though.
As I'm only a fan of only 3 games on this list, plus 1 honorable mention - somehow, 80 posters on 3 platforms doesn't seem like a good enough sample. 😒
I agree with you on that the thing about reddit that website is by liars for liars so you probably imagine a lot of sucky games are mentioned there in hopes creating a buzz to inflate prices
0:08 I want to like Zelda 2. I really do want to like the game. When I saw the AVGN review of it way back I could tell it was a good game it was just a really hard game. But every single time I play Zelda 2 I just get so frustrated because I have no idea where I'm going. I mean yeah that can be kind of an issue and a lot of Zelda games but it's a lot easier to figure out in the other Zelda games.
Castle Vania 3 was one of my all time favs. and was the first one I ever played. I finished the game with all 3 endings, I'm surprised at how many people say how hard that game was making it sound like it was impossible to beat. The Ninja Gaidens should have been in here they were some of the best games made.
Little Nemo The Dream Master, Duck Tales, Double Dragon 2, Super Dodge Ball, Faxanadu, Ninja Gaiden and Chip N Dale's Rescue Rangers. If there was a top 20 these titles would be on that. Top 10 list is solid.
I agree with Contra, Castlevania, Punchout and Mega Man. While I do like them, Super Mario Bros and Zelda are not in my personal top 10 but I'm not dumb enough to argue them making the list. The only one I'm just not a fan of is Metroid. As much as I like the Metroidvania style Castlevanias, I just can't get into Metroid itself, any of them. 🤷♂

Loved Shadowgate. Suprised youre the first i saw mention it.
Where is tecmo bowl, double dribble, ninja turtles, loaded bases?
Both the StarTropic games would be in my top 10. The music in Zoda’s revenge is the best Nintendo music in my opinion.
Duck tales soundtrack is 🔥
Techmo Bowl was iconic
Tecmo Bowl/Super Bowl needs to be on this.
Take away super Mario 2 and add Dragon Warrior.
These people don't know shit!
1. Miracle Piano
2. Stack Up
3. Gyromite
4. Gumshoe
5. Hogan's Alley
6. Arkanoid
7. Super Glove Ball
8. Dizzy the Adventurer
9. CJ's Elephant Antics
10. Maxivision-15
This list is both definitive AND authoritative. It is an exhaustive examination of the greatest games ever coded on the finest game console ever created. It can be neither refuted, rebutted, or repudiated.
I didn't watch the whole thing yet, but my favorites (no particular order) are the original Legend of Zelda, Metal Gear, The Guardian Legend, the Dragon Warrior series, and the original Final Fantasy.
I forgot about Mega Man II... loved it!
As for what should be left out... none they're all good.
Metal Gear Solid ruined the original game for me! It was soooo far ahead of its predecessor that it was unplayable for me after awhile.
Bionic Commando should’ve made the list. Amazing game!
All these games in NES mini Nintendo. Except for Castlevania3 and The Legend Of Zelda.
I absolutely loved Castlevania 2, it was one of my favs right along with Final Fantasy and Dragon Warrior.
I would have put on Ninja Gaiden and taken off Super Mario 2.
This was a solid list. The best games were represented
Little Samson deserves to be in the top 3. The gameplay and visuals were out of this world for NES
Great list
For me, the top 5 are: Legend of Zelda, Punchout, Super Mario 2, Final Fantasy and Romance of the 3 Kingdoms.
Very good video!
Zelda, Super Mario I, Punch Out and Mario 3 were the shizz in the late 80's-early 90's. Pretty solid list.
I’m 44 years old and I grew up on the NES. This list is perfect.
Although I might replace Metroid with Ninja Gaiden.
I’m very surprised Excitebike didn’t even get an honorable mention.
Also, a personal fav was Maniac Mansion.
Kirby would’ve made it higher up than an honourable mention for me, I probably would’ve bumped super Mario 2 down.
Tecmo Super Bowl has an entire community dedicated to updating rosters
This list has ZERO credibility
Somehow i knew SM3 would be #1. Loved that game so much. Also, all of the Megaman's.
It's usually SMB 3, then everything else is up for debate.
@sevartt9046 agreed. What is your favorite? Mine was unfortunately Deadly Towers. Super difficult, but when I was alone playing, it held up.
Duck hunt should have been on this list.
Super Mario bros/duck hunt my first game I ever owned along with baseball.
The Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt came with the NES so they were my first games by default.
I really loved Chip 'n Dale 2. Played it again recently and was as good as I remembered.
Willow should be in this list. Great music, over head and side view gaming, leveling up, great monsters and dungeons and exploitability.
Also Contra Super C
I have to throw my 2 cents in on this with Dragon Warrior 4. It is 5 storylines that converge into a grand Story Arc.
Ultima 4 and Crystalis would be my choices, but I don’t know what to bump 🤷♂️
I'm surprised River City Ransom and Tecmo Bowl wasn't included here.
Tecmo Bowl flaws were exposed with the release of the Madden series.
@@jayceinfinitealgharhythmns9814 It's an NES game -- there were bound to be flaws. Even the best game (SMB3) has flaws.
@
Yeah both had flaws but Tecmo Bowl’s flaws were far more amateurish. At least Madden was trying to reinvent the wheel. Tecmo bowl was like “screw it, I’ll do it myself!”.
Anyone who didnt grow up with Super Mario 3 wont get how legendary that game was at that time in gaming.
to me "The guardian legend" was one of my favorite but I nearly never see it on list like this. The game was massive. Go check it out if you never heard of it.
No RBI baseball is blasphemy!
I guess many people didn’t play Gunsmoke, because that game is a masterpiece.
My top 10 list
-Final Fantasy
-Super Mario Bros. 3
-River City Ransom
-Battletoads
-Punch Out!
-Kid Icarus
-Double Dragon III
-Mega Man II
-Mega Man III
-Contra
If Contra isn't on this list, it's rigged
Beating Tyson was like a rite of passage into manhood.
