Do you agree with Lenny’s fckry of the week?
Until you change the mindset of people, it's a challenge. How can the community believe that they deserve better? How and when will the system do better?
No. That was controlling and creepy tbh. Men’s approval is not the only reason we do procedures like Botox. The patriarchy is deeply ingrained in our culture and the pressure to meet particular beauty standards is not driven by one source - it’s literally all around us. I know he thinks he’s being supportive of his wife but reactions like this are not helpful. If you really care about this issue, start identifying when women are objectified and actively work against it. Placing so much value on your wife’s appearance is just upholding the value system that drove her to do it in the first place.

Loved the way Kelly from Ecuador expressed how Leslie has made her feel, and Leslie's response about being brave. Leslie's fearlessness is one of the things that makes her such a great performer and Kelly put that into words so well.

I think this may be the first time in my life where I blocked contacts on my phone and then shimmied and sang, at the iPhone, like a banshee. Leslie Jones is the inspiration for all of us listening to her that tells us to rip off the band-aid with a smile. A deep breath, too, because it is difficult, which it is for most of us.

Ok, gonna stop you right there with the car vs bike thing. Making room for bikes and pedestrians is literally one of the main ways we can combat climate change. Of course this needs to be accomplished with better city planning that creates designated safe bike lanes and pedestrian crossing zones, rather than the current share-the-road Death Race that we have now.
