- A show and tell tour of my Sony A7iii and my travel lens, the FE 24-240mm. Not necessarily the lightest kit in the world, but it suits my needs nicely. I've included shots from the A7iii in this video as samples of its work.
Please pass along any comments or questions!
I also have a blog post with some additional details about this show and tell video, you can find that on my website at:

Did you notice a big difference between 18-200 on A600p vs 24-240 on A73? I bought a7IV and am thinking about the 24-240. I love the 18-200 on A6600. Wondering if the weight is worth it.
I've moved to the 100-400 G on my A73, and I prefer the image quality over the 24-240. Both are native full frame and I don't need an adapter anymore. I normally travel with the 24-240 because of the larger zoom range. It can be tough to fit something close in the frame when using the 100-400; it is great for closeups at zoo's. Not sure if that helps...
Use compressed raw on the A7iii, the difference between compressed and uncompressed is negligible.
I did read that but for some reason I'm still using the uncompressed. I can't seem to remember why right now.
Trizity Traveling DR is supposedly better, especially with spectacular highlights, but with my testing, I just could not see it. Sony did it right with the compression.
thanks for this review. do you still have this lens? is it good for video? how about in low light? can you show more examples both photo and video
I do still have this lens, it is my day to day glass and only comes off for special shoots-astrophotography & planespotting trips. If you look through my library, anthing from London in the last year was taken with this kit. Here's the link to the London playlist: ua-cam.com/play/PLQPvNSS59IYBY4sx7TMmhLiCRxr3ih-Ky.html
Hey! Thanks for the review!
I've been using the a6000 with 18-200 for the past 4-5 years. Now thinking about upgrading to a7 mk3 with 24-240. Would you say there is a big difference in quality?
I would never consider going back to my a6000 unless the MK3 was completely broken and I had no money to get it fixed. I like my images so much better out of the MK3. The depth in the image is my main reason...silly example is seeing the ground reflected on the fuselage of an airplane and being able to see detail on the ground. Never had that before...
@@TrizityTraveling I was just wondering if the not so good 24-240 on A7mk3 is still better than that a6000 combo...
@@JuJu_Vega IMO it is. I'm unable to determine anything "not so good" with the 24-240 performance in my images and video.
You could check out this page on my website for more images, again, all with the 24-240 and MK3:

Also, have you checked out my London playlist:

Everything there was captured with the 24-240 on my Mk3.
@@TrizityTraveling thank's a lot :)
HEY JON!!! I LIKE LOOKING AT YER FACE! That's my Idahoan Hero right there!
Thanks! You'll be able to see it in real life in about 3 weeks! Hoping for severe weather!
I just bought a used 24-240 lens and was wandering if the firmware can be updated to 2.0 ?
I didn't know there was a firmware upgrade! Thanks for the heads up. The notes indicate it "provides improved IRIS driving during continuous shooting." Looks like it must be connected to a compatible camera. There is a list of camera's that do not support the update: NEX-5, NEX-3, NEX-C3, NEX-VG10, and PXW-FS7 model cameras cannot be used
