Just bought mine last week. So far, I love it. I went from a Honda CB500X and it's a night and day difference. Love the power and how smooth it is. Not getting blown all over the road is nice as well.
Perfect timing! I was looking at this bike just yesterday and was saddened there weren't any reviews on UA-cam for it. I checked today and there yours was! Thanks so much for this! I enjoy your videos so much and had a laugh with the drone. Keep up doing your own things! 👍
Love the bike, but I was slightly engrossed by old stomping grounds as a child, noticed you were near Paderborn, Wewelsburgs surrounding areas.. brought back memories. I’ll be there this summer to revisit my old haunts from the 80s
Nice looking bike but I love a Guzzi V twin for the soulful motor. Just bought a 2014 Norge that I jotted up the engine, suspension and exhaust. Now it rivals my Norton Commando for lovely ear music.
Beautiful Germany so nice to still see the muddy green tractors pulling trailers ha. Well I just did a long test ride on the 900 GSA - I found it light + flickable!! It felt like under 500 to me! That’s a 21” front wheel so it’s completely capable of pounding over trails and debris! I also found the quick shifter smooth and accurate. ==> The only questions I had on the bike was a bigger windshield, less torque off idle than a Boxer, and the width of the GSA front end for filtering through traffic. Otherwise it’s awesome and super fun to ride at high RPMs!!
I’m tossing up whether or not to get one of these or a R 1250 GSA, on not a serious off-roader but do like some nice gravel type roads. These look a little more nimble than the GS, and as a 62 year old, nimble sounds appealing.
A very comfortable travelbike! You look like a roadking on it! A little too heavy, but that's no problem for longer onroad travels. The rack is an item (I don't like these large alucases) , but you can mount softcases as well.
You should try the 900xr again I think gearboxes depend on the bike I took one out for 24 hours last year whilst one of my bikes had some work carried out. I loved the bike, the gearbox was very smooth, unfortunately I was too tall for the screen and no matter how I had it the wind seemed to be coming directly into my face, worse than it would on a naked.
I like your reviews!!! I'm glad to hear BMW improved the performance of the quick-shifter (IMO the QS on the previous version was not very good). I recently sat on the F-900 GSA. For me, I found it to be good-looking, however, it's "BIG", heavy, and top-heavy. I got off it saying, "I don't think I'll be seeing many of these on the road?!?" Lastly, IMO the new F-800GS which is about 50 LB lighter than the GSA may be the best "overall value/ choice" of BMW's F series line-up?!?
Hi Scott would you buy a this bike or a Tiger 900 Rally pro? I in the market for a new mid size currently o n a Tiger 800 XCX! Live Australia and do a bit off off-road 70%on 30off road
If possible please review 2024 f900xr. I had a test ride last year and loved it till the moon and back. Considering the xr or tracer 9 gt. Still have to try the tracer tho
Scott, did you ride the original F850GSA? I had it and hated the front suspension so much I got rid after 8 months. I couldn't cope with the dive. Is this *much* better? I could be persuaded back if it is..... Currently I'm on a tracer 9gt with full electronic front forks. Is this new gsa an upgrade?
Yea, I did a video on it back in 2019 on the 850GSA, so it was a long time ago, this bike did dip a little but it seemed "normal". I would keep the Tracer, this is not an upgrade imho. Take care, Scott
The Suzi V-Strom 1050 isn't on that list. Its "wet" weight is listed at around 250kg, depending on what accessories are fitted. I weighed mine with a 4kg toolbag on the back and some add-ons such as driving lights, Ventura rack system, GPS (yes, it all adds up). And with a full tank (20 litres) the all-up weight was 254kg. Now, that's darned heavy for what is supposed to be an "adventure" bike. It's 20kg more than my sadly departed Blackbird. The 900 Beemers are looking rather attractive except maybe for this particular model.
Expensive, tall, heavy, top heavy, underpowered and under- spec’ed. My vote in this sector would be the KTM890 adv or the Triumph Tiger 900 Pro - both cheaper, lighter, lower and better. The brakes are poor and if other brand can fit better options then so can BMW. I’d take a low mileage used 1250GS for the same price any day.
BMW are just maximising profits at the expense of their customers with a cheap Chinese manufactured bike. This bike is way too expensive in the UK. KTM or Triumph are much better value.
My previous bike was one of the last air-cooled R1200GSA. The weight and power of that bike seems very similar to this new one. It’s almost as if there is a “level” of motorcycle that has a place in the market, even as relentless development pushes power and weight gain ever higher.
Seems like this motorcylce doesn‘t make any sense whatsoever. I like the look and design and especially the larger tank. But why not go with the 1300 if this is not a off road bike either?
This bike is literally the 850GS, but with the 900cc engine. It shares nothing with the all new F900GS. No clue why BMW chose to make this so confusing.
I've had both. Both are great bikes. I have the F900GS currently and really enjoy it. Very confidence inspiring off road. Lighter than the Rally Pro. Less vibration through the bars than the Rally Pro. The speedo is actually accurate (unlike the Rally Pro). But maybe the most important thing to me is that I don't have to take it to the dealer to clear a code just because I changed the oil. Triumph really screwed that one up. Who wants to have to take a bike to the dealer just to get a code cleared??? Yes, the beemer is expensive and not a triple, but it rides well, gets me out and back, and is easy to work on. So, I'll keep it a while. Certainly unique where I'm at - so, that's a bonus.
@@mikemcmurray2506 here, they are about to launch (f900) soon. But the experience which i had with the f850 gsa is awesome... I felt so comfrtable with this one. But, new rally pro 900 been improved with the power and speedo and with some other functions. The fact is like mind says rally pro and the heart says f850gsa (f900). Just because of the triple cylinder and the service cost. It puts me in doubtfull situation.
Ze Germans are now selling this chinese-engine based bike for the same price the 1250GSA was back in 2019. No tele-paralever, no single-sided swingarm, no shaft drive, mediocre engine, mediocre fuel tank for an ADV bike, almost the same weight as the GSA (with an aftermarket Lithium battery). Skip this, and find yourself a nice second-hand 2019+ GSA guys, this is a joke.

I wish for the new F900XR 2025 model, I hope they will introduce it at the end of the year
At that weight, power and price, I’d be tempted to go with a bigger GS model. Great review, as always! 👍🏻
To get a new 1300, you're looking at a good £9k more MINIMUM! Probably equates to £100 more a month if you get a pcp.....

I have 850gsa 2019, I use it off road on loose sands, mud and love it. How much heavier is this 900gsa as you mentioned its too heavy for offroad?
It’s literally the same bike with the new engine. Everything else is identical. The name is very misleading vs. the completely ground-up new 900GS.

Is it just me, or is there practically no sidewall on that front tire.
If it's the same frame as the XR900, then it's going to be top heavy.
Does it have a day time running light?
Is it really much different. I see just an extra 10hp than the 850 and not a lot more.

Because the 1050 is a heavyweight ADV, the chart is for the middleweights. But as I said in the video this bike weighs more than some heavyweights.
Great cross continent touring bike for comfort but is big and heavy.Thanks.
In Brazil they reduce the to 90HP due to Gas Emissions Policies.
Others have probably asked what riding jeans are you wearing?
Trllobite Agnox 👍
Is the seat comfort comparable to the 1300gs for long distance touring? I owned a f900xr and the stock seat is rock hard.
Yes, it is similar to the 13GS, nothing near as uncomfortable as the 900XR!
