    Thermometer is about 25 degrees off. Using pellets instead of wood chips. Bought from Target for $218......worth every penny.

    Okay I'm not sure if you still respond to these but thanks for your video's but I want to pick your brain on this smoker. My wife got me the series 3 Blue Blazin smoker and I've used it twice, and it has made really good BBQ, but even running the thing on max "high" setting for hours and hours, it barely stays at 200 degrees. I think there's a design flaw where the internal thermometer is right on the wood chips tray. Yesterday I was smoking for mom and I noticed that even though the internal temperature was not nearly where I wanted it, the unit shut the element off because the wood chips were burning and it must have thought that meant the ambient temperature was too high.
    This didn't happen when I did the initial burn-in run on high because no water or chips were in , so the temp got to over 300 degrees. But when I'm actually using it, I cannot for the life of me get it to stay at that low and slow 225 -250 range. It just will NOT go higher than 200 degrees....
    Any thoughts or tips on this?

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  2 роки тому

      Certainly. Use a wireless ambient probe like I use to monitor the internal temperature. I’ve found those to be highly-accurate. The built-in thermometer was not accurate, at least on mine.

      @@IrixGuy Thanks for responding! I should have mentioned that I used a trusty oven thermometer clipped to a grate and it matched the reading of the one ont he door more or less.
      I cranked it on high today with no food, water or chips in it and left it on for over an hour. It never did get to 250. Do I have a bad unit?

    • @afox9000

    • @Reclaimer77
      @Reclaimer77 Рік тому

      @@afox9000 Hi there! So sometime after I posted that I figured out my problem: extension cord. You apparently cannot get this unit to perform as-needed unless it's plugged directly into the outlet. Even a thick "high voltage" extension cord will cause the element to not get enough voltage. I moved it closer to an outlet and now I can get it easily to the 250-300 degrees range.

      Goo thing about this electric smoker is we can put water and wood tips without open the door! And we can see from out side window,it is a great smoker so far for this point,but future updates such a temperature dial gauge (black with white line) very simple to do so.

      No problem 👍

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  3 роки тому

      No doubt! Not to mention not having to deal with additional charcoal/wood to regulate temperature. Just be sure to clean that glass window after every smoke while it's still warm to keep it see-through =).

    I just bought this model, assembled it yesterday, and am using it today. Does anyone else think it’s weird that the temp dial seems to be upside down, and doesn’t “line up” with the directions on the control panel (directions say to turn clockwise but you have to turn it counter clockwise)?
    Looking forward to my first smoke!

    I don't know if you'll see this or respond, but what model is this? I'm looking at 10772 as a Christmas gift. Do you have to refill the water pan during long smokes? Does opening the door to do that affect the smoke? The model I'm lost seems to have a separate place for the wood chips below the knob?

    Hi, how long in hours does the wood chips last? Do I need to change it more than once for a 2 person average meal?

    • @IrixGuy
      @IrixGuy  3 роки тому

      It depends on the type of woods and how full you load the smoker box. I had mine full of hickory the other days and after two hours when I added more, some of the previous chips were still smoldering. My guess is likely ~2 hours from a box of hickory but it may last a bit longer. Also, one box may provide enough hickory flavor. It’s really a matter of personal taste preference.
