2019 Toyota Highlander - TPMS Nightmare!

- We have here a 2019 Toyota Highlander from the auction. It has a code in the BCM for no communication with the TPMS module. The Shop replaced the module and called me down when they still could not communicate. Once we got the Dash panel removed, things got a little clearer! Hope you enjoy!

The Toyotas require the tpms wire to be interrupted during remote start. It allows factory fobs to lock unlock while running, the remote starter module makes the connection NC by an internal relay if it's installed, so when it was removed the wires went open.
Thanks for the details!
Thanks! I think this is the first time I've seen NOT having a remote start causing an issue😂
People don't realize once a car is started most remotes are disabled. We are automotive locksmiths so we see this all time. Someone locks their door with the engine running. I know "but it's not suppose to do that" trust me if it weren't for people screwing up we wouldn't run 80-150 calls per week. So anyhow they grab a spare fob and it won't unlock the door because the car is running. There has yet to be a car made that someone hasn't figured out how to lock their keys in or be locked out of. Not to mention all the lost keys we make per week. Dealing with some of these people is not easy but like I stated if it weren't for them no business.
Workin' into the night, dealing with aftermarket trash, and completing the job... Well done, my guy...
Thanks!
This video is real clear on getting to the location of the open by a logical methodical process. Love that because you didn’t have to waste time on all the aftermarket spaghetti.
(Now I just want to learn how to install an accessory correctly! Seen so many horror shows)
I appreciate that!
Thanks for taking us along.
Good job 👍🏻

Very cool button battery tester, Lazer. I’ve never seen that tester.
That tester is the best; it actually puts a load on the battery. I've had brand-new packs of cheap batteries that had 3.3V but would fail this tester. That's why I switched over to Panasonic batteries and haven't had a bad one since.
I would have thought a 2019 would've had factory remote start.
a stash of button batteries
MBT-1 tester in SAME bin
your organization is amazing!
Thanks!
Seriously lol, I wish my brain operated like his😊
I really enjoy your diags, they are interesting. However you need to improve you camera work. Sometimes the things you are talking about are out of frame.
Its always aftermarket crap which becomes a nightmare to resolve i dont understand why people go after this crap😢..
Remote start is a total wank.
Would you normally offer to completely remove the aftermarket rubbish for a fee?
Or do you just fix the issue. Inform them and move on?
I try not to get involved with removing it, as it's usually a can of worms. I only remove it, if I feel I can't diagnose it properly with it in.
@advancedleveldiagnostics I completely understand that as a business. Especially on a lot like this looks to be. No way they're paying more than absolutely necessary.
I just can't help but think back to the multiple cars I've owned that I've had to remove terrible aftermarket installs. Including unwanted tow bars on WAY too small vehicle and a couple of jdm imports that each had 3 and 4 different rat nests (turbo timers, stereo, alarms, light shows etc) adding kg's of bare, twist and tape wiring looms to each car.
If I couldn't do the work myself and someone showed me this toyota. I would happily pay to have the sub harnesses removed and all the tie ins covered back up.
Does all the aftermarket crap 💩 still work?
yeah, the wiper blades.
The remote start was not installed, just the jumper harness for it.
TPMS do not deserve 27 minutes
Who made you the video time boss?.... What a wanker....
Cool video thanks for sharing this with us.
