- Thanks to @KeiteiVentures for joining me on this trip across Somerset's Mendip Hills. Katie is a highly experienced veteran of many hiking adventures including walking the famous Pacific Crest Trail (all 2,650 miles of it!). Unfortunately for her, she found herself on a trip organised by someone with all the experience of one and a half multi day hikes (on the flat)...!

Well done Maximus and Katie…. I liked the shadow shot of the holding hands….love is in the air…😊
I missed that, well spotted, luckily for me there was only one time there was enough sunshine.
Good times 😀 despite the weather, I already look back on it fondly 🌧️🥾🏕️🌤️
Interesting place the Mendips, glad we persevered and reached the sea.
Thank you for inviting me along Max, what's next? 😀
Can't believe you hiked in sandals!! Love the hat.
I'm traumatised . Can you just go to the pictures ?
@@gigi3242 Cheers! I love my hat too :D I wore sandals from day 2 on wards - as my hiking shoes get wet from hiking through grass so I thought I'd trial hiking sandals - and they worked quite well :)
YES. We need another collab
Keitei... walking in sandals makes sense. I've done it & ended up ankle deep in mud, but skin is waterproof & washes off easily 😊
Ah, walking in the English countryside in the weather we all love. Thanks for the vid.
You make a beautiful couple 😏 Geniune happiness in both your smiles 😊 Can't wait to see both of you in your adventures in the future!! Looks like your going to need to work on that stamina Max to keep up with Keitei 😁
Love your videos, I'm watching everything you have have done.
Well done Max that looked a fair walk for you 👍 you might need to slip some rocks in Katie’s bag before you set off next time! Think id struggle keeping up with her marching 😆
Watching you from British Columbia; jealous of the Waitrose breakfast!
Wishing you all the best Max- It seems your toast has landed butter side up 😎
It does rather!
British Columbia too!!
Blimey thought you were up here in Cumbria with us at some stage looking at he weather. Then saw the passion flower ....nope they don't last a winter on Shap fell Enjoyed the video and congratulations on completing the walk
You came right by our wood near Shipham! Next time feel free to call in for a cuppa!
Hey Max and Katie...looking forward to an overland camping trip video in Kermit! Great video and really enjoy the spirit you both bring to your videos. Pure positivity and peace. Thank you and keep making cool content! ~Pete
I've just remembered why I don't do long distance walks any more. Thanks for doing it for us all.
I enjoyed watching your adventure Hike-Swimming the Mendip Hills, glad you both enjoyed the Weather and What an Achievement! I hold my Hands up to you both! Thank you, you have given me a creation that could help many hikers keep their boots dry during such a trek. All I need to do now is develop a prototype! 🥾🧦Glad tidings until your next adventure. 👋✌👍
respect to you and @KeiteiVentures for keeping on through the rain and mud, even braving the rain soaked trousers for another day's hiking. Also cool goats 🐐
I can’t believe Katie walked all that was in what are essentially sandals!
Well done. Thanks for sharing your walk with us.
You can not fault any person, whose first instinct is to bite the head off a gingerbread sheep.
Yay welcome to Weston 😀
Thanks to you, Max and Keitei, for bringing us on your adventure. It's great to see someone else that nature makes them smile
Brilliant. If that young lady is your partner, you're a very lucky man, if she's your friend, you're still a lucky man. Not the best time to go wandering with all that rain but you made it and bravo to both of you.😊 Really enjoy your channel, look forward to the next one 💪👍
It's nice to have a romantic weekend away for two, without the pressure of chickens...
You couldn't have picked better weather for it. (Snuggling up in a tent.) 😉
Yo, I found Keitei's awesome channel from your awesome channel a while back. Two of my favourite people. What a great adventure even with some challenging weather. Peace!
Respect👊💪
Cheddar gorge is a lovely place. I went ther in 1995 to go camping but instead stayed in a wonderful hotel which is sadly boarded up now. I walked from one side of the gorge down to the other side then came down to Jacobs ladder. I did caving and it was a wonderful place. The view froom the top of the gorge was wonderful.
How lovely. I hope the tent was waterproof! Glad to see you happy and relaxed. X
Fantastic, love both your channels & adventures. Great to see you exploring the old pathways.
You both did well, considering the poor weather. The one thing that brasses me off when on a walk, is the racket of traffic when you have to traverse busy main roads. Give me the peace of the green hills anyday.
Love this, thank you for sharing your adventures.
Weston Super Mud does have some superb chip shops though. :)
Kind of felt this was an obvious collaboration. Happy days.
I can imagine you on eBay just now shopping for light weight camping gear! Congrats btw!
Nice pilgrims! they're pretty good boots, but I prefer full leather myself. Good to see you got a taste of wet and dry drills with your soggy trousers. Get yourself some dry bags if you haven't already. You can get bergen liners that are 60-100L, great bits of kit. Ortlieb are my choice.
Go-on Maximus!!
Well done both of you, a great walk despite the weather. Really enjoyed the video.
Great content. Ironthumper should be in charge of Ironthumping and KV in charge of thumping Ironthumper. An erstwhile collaboration. Be well.
Beautiful part of the country i envy you being able to do this. Whish i was able to walk this far.
Keep up mate! haha, great stuff
I rode the Great Western Ride last year from Bristol to Weston (including climbing up Cheddar Gorge) and that was a long way so kudos for walking a similar route!
UA-cam really compressed the audio on this video, but still enjoyable. Thanks max!
Excellent work! An epic adventure made even more fun by the rain. ;)
Thank you both for the trip across Mendip, excellent idea, see the hurdles still under thatch on village green, I went to Primary School in Priddy and Secondary in Wells, have spent some great times walking and camping up there over the years, I recommend a visit.
Very enjoyable but it looked like really hard going! The weather was not very kind to the pair of you but stll nice to watch. Thank you.
well done max and keitei that was one hell of a slog but great to see the mendip hills great vlog
Done a few motocamping rides where I had to put wet gear on again in the morning, it's really not fun. Well done the pair of you for sticking it out!
Well done on completing that walk in those conditions. That was some achievement. Good luck to you both.
Mmm waitrose breakfast 👌 apart from the weather that looks like a really nkce walk 😀 Love a good Roman road too. Have you seen the maps showing all of the Roman roads in the uk?
Yes, in fact I have the OS version in my map collection!
@@maximusironthumper Nice 👌 😄
👍🏻🍻
First of all well done for perseveraning. The both of you. Very lord of the rings/gandalf look with your stick and poncho. Probably not the best Time of year but you did it. 👍👍
I feel knackered just watching this... :P
That was quite a trudge at times; crikey ... what we do for love, eh Max?
What men will do to show a woman we can do what ever it takes to prove something or anything really.
I’m glad your still smiling and Katie seems quite happy also I’m sure we will be seeing more of her in the future.
makes you feel young again enjoying simple pleasures like walking or my preference biking.
Well done to you both, it looked very difficult at times despite the weather.
Just brilliant !!!!
Excellent!
I noticed you hoth holding hands. Is there something you failed to mention Max? 😊
Great entertainment both, and well done.
I spent every summer camping and recognised a few places along your walk. Well done to you both, not an easy walk in wet weather.
Well done Max that was hard core! Ive done that walk in three sections but on three different weekends and in good weather and i hurt after each one.
I'll bet the pace was a lot quicker than your 1st hike, lol 😆
Lovely to enjoy your hike vicariously in the warm and dry. Would be great to see more of this content. Collab or solo.
Just blink twice Keitei, we’ll send help.
🤣🤣
That was awesome. If you are going to go on more hiking adventures, please invest in lightweight gear, and shoes/clothing that dry quickly. Yes, they are more expensive, but they make life better. It was wonderful seeing the smile in your eyes.
I'd be smiling too if I was walking with Keitei!😂
@@richardl7161 are you on a register
Max has been researching in depth, 💻 so expect to see some gear changes 👍
As an aspiring Lieutenant Columbo, I couldn't help notice @14:10 that you two were holding hands. Is there anything else you would like to tell us Max ??????......
Well spotted!
Nice one, Max. Could I ask that you splice in the occasional map image to the videos? Just a thought. ❤
I was able to follow along on Google Maps quite successfully. The only bit I got lost was trying to work out how they ended up on the A370 after crossing the M5 at Loxton - Google Maps doesn't show a pathway heading that direction, and I don't think they used the road. Same after crossing the railway line on the A370, don't see any paths there either so I'm not certain how they got to the beach at Links Rd - must be a track through the reserves there that's not marked on Google Maps either.
Max, what happened to project awesome? Great video by the way. I wish I had time to do this.
Still ongoing but got to finish Project Kermit before I can get back to it full time!
But I don’t feel the need to go all over there ! 😂😂 brilliant vid 👍
Interesting scene in the shadows 14 min 15 sec in 🤔
Or were you just helping Katie up a steep bit🤔
omg how deep do you look at content, bit concerting🤣
@@dustymiller7758 I didn't see it, was my eagle eyed partner
13:50 It think this is the filming location for the village of Uffcombe in the Robin of Sherwood episode 'The Swords of Wayland'. The one where Rula Lenska summons Lucifer. Broadcast on Easter Sunday 1985!
And the TV Tottie Trivia Award goes to... WELL DONE! :o)
Are we witnessing the ironthumper premating courtship behaviour?
Next trip from the lighthouse at the Mull of Galloway to the lighthouse at Dunnet Head?
She's a machine
You need a dog!!🦮
Nice one guys Max that rucksack looks hernia inducing
😅
cool vid on channel tghanks lee
And with a real live girl...
The girl was totally fine, that walk was nothing for her👍.
Excellent loved it all please walk towards the traffic on the right side of the road, though, had me cringing with the traffic
That looked a bit bleak. 😉
In a year from now you’ll be able to take little ironthumper on your walks. Daddy can make an off road push chair 😂😂😂
o)❤
Sorry mate I think you will have to look into getting some lightweight gear if you are going to do more treks like this. GOOD LUCK
One sleeping bag to save weight? 😱🙈👍🏻🙏👍🏻
An interesting video as usual, but that walk for me is the definition of miserable, especially in those conditions.
😂😂great fun. You seem to be struggling a little. 😅Katie travels light and you looked like you was tabbing across the brecken beacons. Some light weight kit needed maybe or retirement 😮😅
You actually look younger in this vid! is it being with a girl? anyway good vid, good stuff
What a slog. Not the best weather for a first date. Poor girl. Should of used the landrover and camped. Bloody weather awful mate.
Great that you have found an amiable walking companion who enjoys the same stupid things that you do. Best wishes to you both.
