Whistler Train Wreck - Ep. 36

In the autumn of 2023 I return to British Columbia, Canada for a new set of adventures. For my first walk I visit the famous train wreck just on the outskirts of the town of Whistler in the temperate rainforest above the Cheakamus River. There is a short way to get to the wreck itself but I chose a more roundabout path in order to get a longer walk in. This south-bound train derailed in 1956, traveling too fast on a portion of the track that was undergoing repair. There's no damage to the surrounding trees because a local logging company dragged the derailed cars off the tracks and into the woods where they remain today.
