    (Edit: whoops, forgot to explain this in the video - the game genies are for putting in a code that uncaps the score beyond 999,999 so there aren’t ties in competition.) Subtitles are now added in case anything was hard to hear over the noise of the convention! Thanks so much to the CTWC team, Chris Bidwell, Hal Hawkins, the judges, and everyone else who made this event possible. Special shoutout to BeastinShen who set up the stream layout in just a couple minutes after the normal CTWC livestream layout wasn't able to be located!

      Honestly makes sense with modern competitions. With internet being so popular the overall skill of players has gone way up so if most people are getting to the point they can get max score then competitive play would get stale fast.

    • @jdogsful
      @jdogsful Рік тому

      Is the game on the left meant to be twice as fast as the game on the right during the tournament? Seriously, if you watch, the game on the left drops blocks at about 1.5x the rate that the game on the right drops them, and the gamer on the left kept losing. Am i missing something, or am i the only one that noticed this?

      Pick up your cross and follow Jesus! The world is quickly headed for destruction, and sooner or later you will have to sit at the judgement seat and give an account for your actions. Belief in messiah alone is not enough to grant you salvation - Matthew 7:21-23, John 3:3, John 3:36 (ESV is the best translation for John 3:36). Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life! - Revelation 3:20.
      Contemplate how the Roman Empire fulfilled the role of the beast from the sea in Revelation 13. Revelation 17 confirms that it is in fact Rome. From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho.
      Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. Have a blessed day!

      Killscreen just means level 29 of the game when the speed gets really high and it used to be impossible to play much. Now though bc of rolling and also even improvements in hypertapping people can play on 29. Polevault is a move where I believe you spin a J/L piece while moving it to the edge allow it to go farther.

    I started watching your videos about Classic Tetris competition a few years back even before the pandemic hit. It was a really inspiring one, seeing a community of people so dedicated to their passion. It’s amazing how everyone of you always makes it a fun, welcoming, and very organized event. I think this is what sparked it for a lot of young people to actually try and play the game. I even tried it out myself as I am a big Tetris guy and I never heard of it being a competitive one, but unfortunately I live across the planet and couldn’t explore more in this area. I’m so glad this came up on my feed because I often wonder how the competitive scene of this game is faring and here you are with an awesome video. I also love how it’s more of a gathering than competition for people of all ages that share their love for a classic game like Tetris. Thank you for sharing this video!

Every one gave it their all, but also had a lot of fun. Then the hang out was great. This was a great video to see the "in" crowds of people super passionate about their hobby. My favorite part was how the people who didn't qual, helped do judging. That is shows a great community group.

    I've been playing video games for as long as I can remember. I'm now 40 years old and I'm still playing video games. I've always been fascinated by them and I've always enjoyed speed running of games, even though I'll never be good enough to speed run anything. I'm just glad to see video games still going strong and it puts a smile on my face. I hope you continue to enjoy games and keep being awesome.

    I never really understood esports. Not to say that I’d knock on people who loved it, it just was never something I actively sought after. After watching this, I am left with a warm feeling for everyone that participate. The sense of community and sportsmanship is awesome. Everyone is there to be competitive, but most importantly to create memories and build friendships. Thanks for the video.

      I have been watched esports for over 10 years and this is far from a competitive esport scene. Check out Dota 2, League of Leagends, CS:GO, Starcraft 2, and probably a few others where people gain or lose thousands or millions of dollars in tournaments. Those guys go to the gym, some are on real pro athlete diets, have trainers, sports psychologists, etc. This is a tournament designed for a community to come together and have fun. Not hating on the talent here because I couldn't play Tetris this well but far from an esport my friend.

      @CONSOLETRUTH2 Рік тому

      Never got esports? How could you NOT get it? I mean first it really is NOT a sport but I digress. Anyway, it's nothing different than ANYTHING people can useadameans to compete against each other. I mean it's like saying playing poker against someone else except its using video games. With this one, I'm guessing there is a time limit which means like say you have 5 minutes to see how many points you can score and highest score wins. With fighting games it's simple one on one like a boxing match in reality. 2 people face off and use their on screen character to beat the crap out of each other until there is a winner.
      That's basically it. So yeah, how someone can't uminderstand exports is beyond me.

    • @CONSOLETRUTH2
      @CONSOLETRUTH2 Рік тому

      @@anthonyaltomare73 dude, no export is really a "sport" but here you have people playing an electronic game against each other to see who comes out on top. There may be different levels of crazy buy this is
      As much an export as any FPS or FIGHTING TOURBEY

    • @anthonyaltomare73

    Tetris has always been our favorite household family game. Its a gaming experience that my entire family can truly enjoy and share, from my parents to all my friends to the youngest of my siblings. Across 50+ years of age difference between the youngest player and the oldest player in our home, we can all gather behind the TV screen and spend countless hours and nights enjoying Tetris. We've been doing this since 1989! ... and it NEVER gets old! We pretty much own every modern and classic iteration of Tetris and enjoy them all equally! I can honestly say that CTWC would probably be the only gaming event that I could take my buddies, my siblings and or even my parents to and we'd all enjoy it equally :) I hope we can keep this game alive forever!

    I just love this. It's hard for me to explain why, but it resonates with me on a very personal level, even though I've never played Tetris outside a few games on my Gameboy. But the vibe and everything just brings me back to the LAN parties me and my friends used to have and/or attend in the 90's playing Quake, Unreal Tournament, Startcraft:Brood War etc, it brings me back to a happier time, love to see it.
