It's possible! From what I read it could be Political satire reflecting a real life conflict at the time, but it can also be a full religious story which may seem silly to us, but was important to people back then. But I also read that when theatre arrived to egypt later, they LOVED satire :D

They're the same people, after all, who had a creation myth that involved Atum causing the big bang, through what we will call unconventional methods. Mind you, they also decided that their idea of a disaster movie was to have a giant lioness terrorize everyone, only to be defeated by beer disguised as blood. I often joke that the Egyptian Arabic use of the term "lioness" is doubtless a holdover from that time (I don't know if it actually is, and personally doubt it).
4:45 Weirdly enough, in the older version of this story told from the Middle Kingdom, the "card game" that happened between Horus and Set was consensual. As weird as this story gets, it's still not as weird as Norse mythology lol.
I have seen that version, but I decided to rather go with this one haha Its wild And honestly...most mythologies are weeeird (thats what I love about them :D)

3:04 I get that you tried making the story as entertaining & simple as possible but that eliminated the actual profundity of the plot , Set is the impersonation of human's extreme ambitions even though it could spiral out of control meaning this part was the epitome of his character being fulfilled ; one he cared for someone else (in that case , his new found love) he would've brought the whole world for her ... Ofc, as long as it doesn't collide with his own persona and laser - sharp vision.

From the sound of the story, I think that the Contendings of Horus and Set might be an ancient work of satire, kinda like Aristophanes' The Frogs.
