- So, it’s time to partly reveal the biggest Audi facelift in years. We went to Oman to drive the new facelifted Audi S3 8Y and oh my were we surprised. The car has, believe it or not, more power (+23hp), more torque, upgraded suspension, better tyres, optimised ECU, and hold your hats: a drift mode from the RS3. This feels like a proper Audi facelift like we were used to for decades. And the S3 takes a huge leap to its bigger brother RS3, and also closes the gap to its twin Golf R. I was able to stay next to a rs3 face-lift im the Audi headquarters at Ingolstadt, and yes it looks sick! Diffuser etc changed alot. Can't wait to order it
@@ikbenjevader191 No, I didn't mean that, I meant that they might replace the EA855, with the EA888 and get ride of the S3 and name it RS3 with slightly more power than the current 8y, I know that they cannot proceed to that in the current 8y, but who knows the coming generations could be a 4 cylinder, and don't get me wrong because we're not ready for such a thing.
Have they sorted the software issues in the current car, put some decent parts back into the B&O sound system and got rid of the cheap plastics and piano black trim inside? That would be a start, never mind anything else. 8Y RS3 sportback owner, not impressed by Audi's cost cutting.

I’m a big big Audi fan but man this smells like: ok bring in that golf r akrapovic, bring me down from the 7th floor some a8 lasers matrixes, and on the way back jump in to the 6th floor and grab them those 2d embles and a grill from the etron department and we are done
Was thinking the same thing. Love Audi, and the car looks 'cool', but it's like they took a part here and there and just put it together. The 2D logo and grill is just a big NO to me.

@@d3rF. exactly! I mean its akra titanium, updated diff, even better performance motor block it is a beast of a car! I would even accept 2D logo but for God’s sake the close shot from the grille is like I’m looking at the secret love child of the etron gt and q8 etron.
Looking forward to see the Sportback. Never was a saloon car enthusiast.
As a A3 8Y driver, this is just sad, I'm not sure if this is because of the livery but this thing looks worse than the outgoing S3 model. And some new LED desings are far from the "biggest facelift", on the 8V model we had an entire new shape of the rear and headlights with the facelift. I see the bumper is entirely different too but it just looks less sporty and aggressive too.

This is the final car. You can see the body clearly and got all the info about the changes. Just be happy that we got to test it in its final stage, months ahead of its reveal.

Am I the only one who thinks that Audi is completely lost at the moment with their LED light design? Who would have thought that the brand that started it all, is so without proper ideas now 😢

This is not a test mule. This is the final car. Just be happy that we got to test it in its final stage, months ahead of its reveal.

Oh WOW! In such an un-Audilike fashion the facelift looks like it has a cleaner design than the pre-facelift. And the technical revisions sound incredible. I guess I have a new thing to put in extra work hours for😂😂

RS5 can't have this differetian because RS5 is based on MLB Evo platform nor MQB.

Its a complete copy of the golf r performance (exaust, Horsepower, Torque, driftmode usw…) that hurts a bit, but it is a huge upgrade to the last s3
S3 just became better. Wanna see it in a nice/normal color though, it looks hideous in this vid, can't see the beautiful lines properly.
That's why we edited away the red in the photos. We've already shot the final S3 and I can tell you that it looks gorgeous

I’ve now watched multiple videos where they say the car doesn’t have drift mode. Even one Audi engineer in one video said, that the car doesn’t have a drift mode.

Still rather have the a35/a45s just because of the interior which is leagues ahead. let’s see if they make any changes to the inside sitting in the current one is what made me cancel my rs3 order. A45s was way better. And I’ve always had Audis so not bias 😁
I actually found the opposite. The door arm handle squeaks like heck in the Mercedes A/CLA. The change to capacitive button steering wheel in the facelift A/CLA is also a big no go. I much rather get the 8Y, even though that's a step back to 8V's interior quality.

No classic and stoic styling in Audi no more it seems 😐. Take the badge away and call it a Kia or BYD. Would anyone notice it for a more expensive AUDI? That rear diffuser looks like someone gave it a wedgie 😆. BTW 3 Audis on the lot and 4th on the way so I am not a hater. Simply, disappointed. The Audi A3 8V looked much more stylish and composed. What do You people think of AUDI styling in years to come? 🙃
Drift mode, pointless. I have this on my RS3, never used it, never will. It's a road car. Paying for extra for something we don't need, Audi is good at that. Akrapovik will be a £5K option 🤣

@@Auditography Really. I'd like to see some facts to back that fantasy statement up, as discussions on forums suggest otherwise. I have the new RS3 and will never use the drift mode. Totally pointless, I'd rather the money got spent on decent ICE, as the B&O in the RS3 is terrible. Also, the cheap interior plastics.

sure hope so. I owned an 8Y S3, and the interior is horrible. cheap plastic everywhere, lame shifter, and fake B&O speakers (literally proven not to be Bang & Olufsen) made me sell the car
B＆O is a rubbish brand in HiFi industry.
At least they did something to it, the pre face-lift was so disappointing, the 8v was better

The colorway chosen doesn’t really show what the new 3 looks like. Looks like the old one. Nothing exciting here. If they sell it looking like that THEN they have my attention.

.... needs the RS engine with the Acrapovic .... + the 2.5L 5 Zylinder & Acrapovic should go into the A4 line .... & the RS line should be reduced in all these electronic s*#t ....

The rs3 is heavily underrated,,, you must be living under a rock or in Germany
S3 maybe, byt RS3 is one of the last 5 cylinders in the world being produced nowadays. You don't know anything about cars saying that.
Agree on the S3, but you are way off with the new RS3, it is awesome. Had mine 9 months, super impressed. Destroys almost everything on the road, looks great and is a joy to drive.
