+Marcos Paulo Sorry. For there to be beauty, there must be excellence. This airplane, or rather the DC-10, same plane with different name, is know in our industry is "The Scud." Named after the missile. You sort of point it and hope it will fall somewhere near the target. Some of the design and manufacturing problems of the DC-10 were addressed in the MD-11, but too late to save its reputation for shoddy execution, corner cutting, defective planning, difficult maintenance. It could have been a good plane, it had the potential. Greed and incompetence doomed it.
What great vidieo! I was the Captain on this flight. I noticed you as we taxied out with your camera. It was a beautiful day in Manchester and you captured our take off better than I have ever seen. I still think the Mad Dog is a great aircraft. Thanx for posting this Boston Airborne. ps, the bump on the nose is part of our HUD system and a new addittion.
This is one of the most beautiful Airplane videos I have seen. You are truly an artist capturing these beautiful machines. Loved the beginning when you can only see the tail engine at 0:11
This easily became one of my favorite aircraft models. It takes a lot of skill to land it, but it's definitely a beautiful plane. The MD-11 is a really good contender for the first model airplane I'm going to get. Being an aircraft/airport fan, I could totally see an MD-11 model sitting on my shelf one day, displayed proudly for all to see.
Worked for Fedex in the 80's and 90's. Jump seated many time from Memphis to LAX to see my daughter. You ride up front with flight crew and u have your own large sea t that looks out a very large window. What a remarkable view.
@@Dreamskater100 Become a licensed FAA Aircraft Dispatcher and work for an Airline or Cargo Company then you can jumpseat all the time. I get to see this DC-11 a few times per week here in Guadalajara. It comes here and then it goes to Memphis By coincidence it flies above my house and it's not hard to see it, the sound it makes is amazing
A great three-holer in full swing, fantastic and also love those fall collored trees in the background. The light was just perfect to let this angel shine.
I figured you all saw me! Glad you stumbled across my video. That was one sweet piece of heavy metal you flew in. Great take off roll and you only used 5,000 feet of runway; show off! ;)
Wow, that is an absolutely brilliantly shot video. Lighting, angles, focus, perfect. And even the sound is superb: The engines fading out to the soft birdsong. Am I just in a weirdly over emotional mood, or did anyone else find this video atmospheric and evocative to the point of almost being quite moving?!
I'm so glad you were there to catch it for us! I drove there after the gym, but I was way too late. I can just hear you now. "Holy crap! He's coming right at me!"
They had problems initially, but they have surely been worked out by now. He problems they had are all ancient history now. There are still foreign operators flying pax around in these things. The Mad Dog is one of the finest birds in service, with one of the best service records in aviation history. They have racked up millions of hours, and if they weren't reliable, one really couldn't paint "The World On Time" on the side. Great video. Been trying to capture one like this for a long time. I
Been ages since I've last been to an airport, but still remember that one of the 1st things to see (and so iconic at that) was that gigantic vertical stabilizer with an engine on it, it's amazing. Sadly didn't see one taking off or landing tho, hope next time I'm at an airport (who knows when... got no money to travel after all) I see one.
My son who is in the US Air Force upon landing congratulated the captain for such a smooth landing. The captain replied, "I would like to take credit but this landing but this was done by computer".
Me and my friend were watching this and we were in aw of this outstanding video. Crystal clear footage every time. My rating: 11 out of 10. Your video deserves a bonus :)
Lovely video .. well done for not zooming out as the aircraft passes. Too many people do but I think it looks much better doing it how you have here .. all that lovely detail!! And NO music bonus. Great work.
Excellent video quality. Two of the best flights I ever took in my life were on similar aircraft: an all too short flight on a Nat'l. Airlines DC-10 ('72) from Miami to Tampa and a night flight from Nashville to Miami on a Delta Lockheed L-1011 ('92).
Amazing footage and sound man! I love MD-11 aircrafts! Whoa whoa whao! It so magnificent to watch it liftoff the rwy and up it goes! LIked! Stunning video mate!
Man, check out that view at 0:58. Love those humongous windows, it seems like it'd feel like flying a fish bowl. What a very, very lucky group of men those FedEx pilots are!
I see planes take off everyday many times but this is so beautiful! Both the pilots' and the camera man work, wow, amazing! Almost didn't use the runway :D (That's Fedex!!!) And you can even hear the birds singing in the background.
In my opinion, the MD11 is still one of the most beautiful airliners..
absolutely 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

The fedex on is my favorite
I forwarded this video to the crew that operated this flight that day. They really appreciate the nice job on the video!
Great thing to do!
3ds max That was the most Beautiful and smooth takeoff I’ve ever seen. You guys are so talented, you just make me want to be a pilot more and more. :)
That sucker must’ve been empty!
@3ds max no md11 pilot has the username 3ds max and a cover pic of a bunch of asses lmao
3ds max you’re awesome sir/ma’am. Kudos to all of you!!!
This is probably the best MD11 vid on youtube.

Good spot!😀
This video has the best sound mixing and engineering of any UA-cam video I have ever seen.
When I worked at Fed Ex (before 9/11), we were able to jumpseat in the cockpits. I got a few chances to be in an MD11 cockpit--really cool experience!
I can think of another incident with Fed Ex that would have changed the ability to jump seat.
Religion of peace accomplished what that rogue pilot did not. Just facts, m'man.

Used to work on the ramp for Ups and we got Md11’s on the daily . I can tell it apart just from the sound . Such a Beautiful powerful bird
It always looks grumpy
Wireline no it always looks beautiful
Maurits Veen both
Wireline what both?
That's because it's grumpy
Look at the cockpit windows. It makes the plane look grumpy. It is still a beautiful plane, that's why he said both.
Fantastic, everything in place here: lighting, filming, sound. Great job!!
Stunning...one of the top UA-cam videos I've seen in any genre, ever....
What camera are you using? The quality is incredible!
Brendan Jackson still wondering..
me too.....its only been 3 years....I got time......lol
Looks to be good backlighting. The sun is behind him so it's highlighting the plane and giving the camera a good thing to focus on
I think he used an SX50hs for this
This video does a great job showing the size and the power of the MD-11.

Love the sound of those engines. That buzz saw as it rotates.
Beautiful! Just listen to the background sound of birds chirping as she makes her turn.... Wonderful.
