This video wouldn't exist if they had done what Linus mentioned about being human. That is true of many of the more recent videos about this issue as well. By now it would be a dead meme that gets brought up rarely.
2:20 it wasn’t a death threat my g... “Good luck staying alive, the internet never forgets” This is talking to The Verge AS A WHOLE and telling them that their reputation is going to go down and is basically telling THEM “good luck staying relevant after this” or something. How’s that a death threat? There are people who ACTUALLY receives death threats and this is tame compared to those. Also the Editor guy NEVER formally apologized. I think he even said it himself on Twitter, that it wasn’t an apology and he isn’t going to make one either. Go and watch ReviewTechUSA’s video on this subject. He reads the “aPoLoGy” that the Editor issued.
This is why we like Linus. He is human. He is not afraid to let it all out and admit when he makes mistakes. He is part of the stream...never outside of it or trying to impose his will on it.
This is some good shit. Good clear sound, nice space, not overactively engaging your guest because you like the sound of your own voice. Hard sub here!
I was there on the comment section before the video was taken down. No one did a death threat everyone is saying that the channel is gonna die, and that's it.
one year from this video, Linus actually did everything he said when someone got into a problem or make mistakes he did what he said rare things to find these days
Actually this is a serious issue. It's a serious issue because we are starting to see this idea of passing off crap as fact in all levels of society. When you fail you get beat down...learn from it and move on. We don't protect those from failure. This idea of it not being essential is stupid. This type of complaisant attitude corrupts beyond the medium. It's exactly why we have death panels in California now.
The verge should have just gotten Jay, Kyle, or even Linus to do the video for them. Or heck have a competent pc builder consult and tell that dude step by step.
I feel like 90% of death threats dont happen. I feel like its a great way to pitch your opposition as the irredeemable bad guys and garner support with very little risk of backlash. Its a good pr trick, I think that if someone is going to cry 'death threat' though they should post the proof.
I agree, death threats are a bridge too far. I'd argue, though, in the terms of there being justification for general backlash... there is a greater need for justice. As essential as oxygen, food, water, and shelter are for living, so too there is a need for misinformers and snake oil salesmen to be rebuffed and driven out of town for the greater security of the tribe.
So my teacher asked me if there's anything wrong in the video (stefan's) as part of a quiz.... And I answered,,, "No, it was totally informative!" now i regret my answer.
The Verge guy dug a hole for himself with his replies on Twitter. People got angry. He doubled down on them. Not surprised people sent death threats, especially when identity on the Internet can be anonymous.
I talked about this with friends who are passionate about pc building and gaming, and the same thing Linus said we said too. You could've called anyone from PC building Community, and they would've helped you and teach you a couple of things. And one thing I agree with Linus even more, is that when he offered help they ignored him, but they probably replied to the hate online. People always like drama over helpful stuff.
Couple of things. Good podcast and I just subscribed. Second, the infamous Verge video was actually very well made. The production values were high and it LOOKED very professional. Of course the actual content was crap... as was Vox's/The Verge's behavior afterward.
Enjoyed this chat, but bummed that you didn't discuss Floatplane at all. Would've been interesting to get some more context and its creation and its progress.
"No one should receive a death threat for building a computer the wrong way" You don't even know if that's true or not! The verge knew they screwed up, they knew they were being clowned by the tech community. So they had to do damage control and make the situation all about pity, and turn the tables so it doesn't seem like they are the bad guys. Please, who would threaten someone life for building a PC the wrong way? If anything it was hilarious that the guy talking thinking he was some big shot that can build a PC without any research what so ever. The verge always does that. As soon as they get called out for dumb things they do, they try to say something that makes them look like they are not the bad guys. It's their PR department doing damage control.
@@dennisanderson8663 the issue though is that it was at most, only 1 or 2 people that made death threats. They obviously don't represent the gamer community at large. and yeah, most death threats aren't even credible, they're just cries for attention. For the verge to even bring up the death threats means that they were willing to try and paint the gamer community as unhinged lunatics and shows how desperate they were to paint themselves as the victim.
@@VoodooV1 If he really did get threats then Stefan only has himself to blame. Instead of handling criticism like a man, he chose to call people nerds and play the race card. If there is anything people despise in today's world, it is a person that refuses to admit they are wrong.

i would rather follow a tutorial of Dennis building a pc then watching the verge's build...
I laughed so hard at this
@Ilyas AitAkki yes i do, when dennis does it its amusing
The one death threat they showed wasn't even a death threat. Think about that. In a community of thousands they couldn't find a real death threat.

How she keeps Linus on track for 5 minutes is truly impressive
"Make sure that you align it [the PSU] with these little insulating pads so the power supply doesn't short circuit and come into contact with the rest of the system".
-Stefan Etienne 2077.
I didn't think I would like this video, but I did like it! Very nice, Thanks for proving me wrong Sara!
i find it funny that he is now making a video with the verge lmao
Did he drop the build?
He probably dropped the whole studio when he entered...
Easy to always claim you get death threats. "Was any of it ever proven" is always my go to these days.
Who's here after Stefan appeared in Linus' video about fixing The Verge PC Build?
The Verge $2000 PC is the only acceptable thing to be dropped by Linus
The verge just murdered a newborn pc , he should be in jail
Put the entire VOX shit into jail because they are shit

What he got wrong:
-Tools
-stand-offs
-The IO for the MB, called brace
-thinks a normal wrist band grounds him
-Starts with installing the MB before everything else
-Claims the RAM is fast because is got 2666Mhz(?)
-Installed memory wrong
-Installed GPU wrong
-Kills the PSU airflow
-forgets fans for radioator
-Thinks every PSU is the same
-throws stuff away for no reason
-thinks every cpu cooler comes with thermal paste
-way too much thermal paste
-Doesnt show ANYTHING about the cable works.
-End product lokks like a something to store old calbes
Wise words from an actual respectful and responsible guy THAT KNOWS WHAT HE IS DOING. Come on Verge where do you even find these people...... *sigh*

Intel with their 10th gen flop

u got one from me too! agree with @Micha M here
At least The Verge didn't put thermal paste on the CPU Socket first XD Like some people XD
Imagine if the verge just held their hands up and said ah our bad that wasn't good enough, then just made a really good guide video....
That would be a good start, but I still don't understand how someone makes a video that bad by "mistake." They need to explain what happened, and why it will never happen again.
Wow. Linus actually sent them a reply to help them and make it right. Even in the podcast, he's like "what side are you" joking. The guy is soo natural. Respect.
Wait, Vox owns The Verge? It makes a lot more sense now.
Vox is a disgusting libtard Fake News outlet, so of course they put out a Fake News computer building tutorial video.
John Smith FAKE NEWS

High respect to Linus. He helped Stefan about it. Watching this after their collab video.
Rocking the Jibo t-shirt again! Love it
I think he just likes wearing shirts of dead companies/products.
I just watched the tech quicki where he was wearing it to announce the death of jibo
Vessel one makes me laugh
After crapping all over the jibo product (that robot thing) here Linus is wearing a jibo shirt.
I wanna say that when he reviewed it or later down the line he said the shirt was a much better product and he would get more use out of it
no actually jibo is getting shut down so he is mourning u bisss show some repect and mourn... go back to your room u psycho ( last part was a joke but yeah jibo is getting closed
To Linus its just a nice looking shirt that's clean
He likes the shirt, has worn it in many reviews.
I also believe he wears it for the irony.
Can we take the time to give props to the interviewer? This was such a smooth convo.
"Speaking about the memory, I wish I could erase this one"
Great job you two! Love the truthfulness and candidness! Thank You!!!
This video wouldn't exist if they had done what Linus mentioned about being human. That is true of many of the more recent videos about this issue as well. By now it would be a dead meme that gets brought up rarely.
who is here after his build with the verge guy?
2:20 it wasn’t a death threat my g... “Good luck staying alive, the internet never forgets”
This is talking to The Verge AS A WHOLE and telling them that their reputation is going to go down and is basically telling THEM “good luck staying relevant after this” or something.
Some people have gotten personal death threats from what ive seen around

I love how Linus is trying to settle things peacefully, he’s a true wise man that’s for sure.
It is genuinely cool to see Linus make actual points and be very direct. It's new and impressive imo

The verge flushed any credibility it had down the crapper 🚽
Linus is the most kind and humble person I have seen on TV - I'm glad me and him share the same interests
Lol. Let's be honest, The Verge seriously could've 1,000,000% done better with ALL their resources they have and yet they failed MISERABLY.
This is some good shit. Good clear sound, nice space, not overactively engaging your guest because you like the sound of your own voice. Hard sub here!
I was there on the comment section before the video was taken down. No one did a death threat everyone is saying that the channel is gonna die, and that's it.
one year from this video, Linus actually did everything he said when someone got into a problem or make mistakes
he did what he said
rare things to find these days
Imagine getting offered by Linus to fix ur mistake AND NOT TAKE IT!!!
That's what I thought until today.
Genuinely cannot believe you still have that Jibo shirt
3:20 who was he referring to?
The verge should have just gotten Jay, Kyle, or even Linus to do the video for them. Or heck have a competent pc builder consult and tell that dude step by step.
Sort of makes me upset seeing everyone talking about Kyles video getting a strike when he wasn’t the only one, reviewtechusa got a strike as well
3:18 Intel i9 & x299 HEDT controversy.
This is awesome. Will you be posting the full pod as a video?
Looking forward to the Evans/Morrison ep.
I feel like 90% of death threats dont happen.
I feel like its a great way to pitch your opposition as the irredeemable bad guys and garner support with very little risk of backlash.
Its a good pr trick, I think that if someone is going to cry 'death threat' though they should post the proof.
Stefan etienne is the reason why usb killers exist
I agree, death threats are a bridge too far. I'd argue, though, in the terms of there being justification for general backlash... there is a greater need for justice. As essential as oxygen, food, water, and shelter are for living, so too there is a need for misinformers and snake oil salesmen to be rebuffed and driven out of town for the greater security of the tribe.
So my teacher asked me if there's anything wrong in the video (stefan's) as part of a quiz.... And I answered,,, "No, it was totally informative!" now i regret my answer.
Guess they were trying to tell how much the video could mislead people

@GMI you can't see the difference 4k makes in a game that takes good advantage of high frame rates
People always like drama over helpful stuff.

people wouldn't have been so harsh if he just accepted the criticism and moved on, rather than play the victim and cry racist.

Couple of things. Good podcast and I just subscribed. Second, the infamous Verge video was actually very well made. The production values were high and it LOOKED very professional. Of course the actual content was crap... as was Vox's/The Verge's behavior afterward.

And always apply thermal paste you are icing a cake!
Enjoyed this chat, but bummed that you didn't discuss Floatplane at all. Would've been interesting to get some more context and its creation and its progress.
"No one should receive a death threat for building a computer the wrong way"
You don't even know if that's true or not!
I'm sure if someone gave him death threats the authorities would have found the person and it would have been on the news.
