I am SO HAPPY for Krile! Been begging for her to not get sidelined since SB, and it seems like the writers feel the same.
Feels like most characters I like get side lined by power creep and felt like she was another example for a while there. I hope this means otherwise.
Krile gets to leave all that endless desk paperwork piled up on her desk behind.

Two things about the city.
First, Facade doesn't just mean lie it also means the face of a building that points toward the street.
Two, solution 9 is a reference to ffix. The main character, who Viper is based on, had an ability called solution 9.

Anyways! Glad Krile’s getting some love this expansion. I have always made it a point to take one of the new jobs through the MSQ. May end up maining it, maybe not, but it offers a level of freshness that older jobs don’t for obvious reasons. Until it drops, I can’t quite decide if I’ll be picking up Viper or Pictomancer but I am heavily leaning towards the latter. I like the concept, really like the cel-shaded effects, and tbh right now Viper looks a bit too familiar……. Still! Will wait and see.
I am really looking forward to seeing what the cyberpunk city’s all about. Very intriguing.

Just as a heads up Yoshi P has stated in interviews that Vana’diel aka FFXI is not a shard of the Source. If anything I believe the fact that it’s called Echoes of Vana’diel is a deliberate call out to our Echo ability. I think that Vana’diel existed on the Source and is one of the earlier eras that we don’t have current knowledge on.
The theories right now are that the high-tech screenshots combined with the cosmic exploration and raid theme are pointing to a hidden advanced civilization hiding itself with holograms like Esthar (FF8) was doing. It explains everything and I'm all for it.
I like the idea of this being one of Azem's "solutions" to the final days, or maybe a former incarnation of Azem from the 2nd Astral Era helping to prevent the 2nd Umbral Calamity (The calamity of Lightning/Levin that came with rejoining the Twelfth shard). Don't see why it wouldn't be related to Azem when the expansion is literally called "Dawntrail" aka "What was left behind by Azem"

Kinda wish Solution Nine hadn't been spoiled at all. That had potential to be another Amaurot reveal. But I get why they did. And I can only imagine what they're still holding back.

When the Dev team was too tired from many GIGA projects and wanted a nice relaxing expansion.
Yeah I'm excited for: 1) A more chill journey-based expansion like Stormblood. 2) The fresh ideas the younger dev team will be able to experiment with and show off (a young dev team that probably PLAYED the game a bunch before getting hired) 3) The surprising emotional gut punches that will come out of nowhere when we thought that this was "just a beach episode".
Keep in mind they never show the last 2 zones of an expansion until the end of the expansion
One of my favorite things about FFXIV is, it doesn't handcuff me. I play other games, but I'll always come back. New expansions are like a big family reunion.😁
I'll admit, I love when there's new FFXIV stuff to chew on, though. That Arcadion screenshot is gnawing on my mind. That's clearly meant to resemble an Ascian sigil in there, but I can't pinpoint which one.
I remember when Lahabrea and Igeyorhm fused, so to did their sigils. It's possible that sigil, if it is one, is from a fusion of two Ascians.
So you are suspecting Solution Nine was something of an Ascian backup plan, should the rejoining prove an impossible task?
@@Redblaze27 Possibly. I know the Hydaelyn/Zodiark story is over, but we've still got a number of Ascians roaming around that are unaccounted for, and Fandaniel showed us that even the sundered Ascians can have their own agendas.
In fact, now that I look at it, the sigil in the Arcadion picture reminds me a lot of Halmarut...
An MMO having cycles is a healthy state, and helps prevent burnout and boredom.
It's probably the same for content creators.
Despite the fact that I will continue to not give Blizzard a dime for a good long while, I hope WoW stays good. Competition breeds innovation.

@Pyromancer in regards to Solution Nine: "Facades" isn't necessarily in the "deception/lie" meaning of the word, but rather "the principal front of a building, that faces on to a street or open space.". so my assumption is that those buildings are real alright. and i need housing in there. let them slip just one hint that's gonna be a thing, and i'll start saving up gil right away.
because krile is going to be on the front lines now i might just play the dungeons solo i like the different dialogue you get when playing with NPCs

Now I want more classes from FF6 like Rune Knight, and why not, cameo of the characters in game.
I swear man if they removed the glow in the dark of Au Ra eyes... My character entirely relies on that for theme.
FF11 was a hell of a game back in the day, but it was (isnt as much anymore) a massive grind. Made WoW look casual in comparison.
Also 11 has an area simply called Dynamis. So there will probably be a connection to 14
Iroha the npc from Rhapsodies of Vana'diel has appeared in FF14 in a crossover quest thats been repeated about 4 times
She never did get to go back in the end, Ive always wondered if there would be a followup
Solution 9 is a limit break ability that the main character of FF9, Zidane used. Additionally, some concept art of that zone having proto-Eorzean text was translated and "Soul Supply" was one. Another reference to FF9 as well since souls played a big part in Zidane's story.

Solution Nine is the kind of drastic SciFi setting Final Fantasy has long been known for dropping into its games, im so happy that FFXIV is getting to experience it too!

1. @ 50:09 graphic says "In this region overflowing with Lightning energies, Thick thunderclouds blot the Sun, While streaks of pure Levin illuminate the land day and night"
2. @ 51:00 looks like street lamp things and @ 51:16 graphic shows what look like powerlines
3. @ 1:13:31 looks like inside a computer obviously and you noticed what looked like an Ascian Mask, which doesn't match any of the known 13 Ascian masks (could it be the mask of Azem?).
This is my theory. This is a remnant of the Civilization described just before the Second Calamity, the Calamity of Lightning!
Read Page 23 in the Encyclopedia Eorzea. A civilization that "gutted mountains and blackened the skies" presumably with their industry. They caused the Calamity of Lightning and were forced underground, where they focused on 'prayer' and learned the first 'magical incantations'!!!
That's what I'm going with. Any thoughts?

one unique aspect of FF14 as an mmo is that there are no retention systems that forces you to stay. This is the goal of the devs and isn't new information but some had a difficult time coming to terms with this. That is a positive to some and a negative to others but overall i think the general idea has gotten better within the community.
No one should question your love for FF14 anyways so no need for the disclaimer. You got a tattoo sleeve dedicated to azems journey afterall. As yoship states, take breaks. Play other games like WoW and when the time comes for the next expansion in ff14. Come back.

Cosmic Exploration interests me. I'm willing to bet the planets we go visit will be the same ones (spoiler alert) Meteion visited thousands of years ago and found that they were already ruined (end spoiler alert) and we get to go and restore them.
My WoL headcanon is that he's super leaned into and taken on the mantle of Azem. If Pictomancer truly leans into creation magics, and it COULD since Krile has the echo and therefore is a shard of an ancient, my WoL might have to main it...
Also, I'm calling it Splatoonmancer in my head. And I haven't even played Splatoon.

I'm actually kind of annoyed that the Viper's weapons are on the back instead of on the hips like they were in the trailer. I was really hoping for that...
To give you hope, there could be variations for each weapon, like how Sage neuliths can rest on the back in different ways.
I looked at the new map for a while and thought up a theory.
Compare Tural, specifically the connection of Xak and Yok Tural, with our world. Tuliyollal is effectively in Colombia or Venezuela, with Urqopacha being Peru. Shaaloani is clearly designed around Texas and Mexico.
So then, this world is missing our equivalent of much of Central America. Everything from Panama through the southernmost past of Mexico is replaced with that giant gash. And that got me thinking...
What if that gash isn't just a tear or crack, but a FOLD? Like if someone took a piece of paper with Xak Tural and Yok Tural on it and a "central" Tural in the middle, and folded it around the center, bringing north and south together while sinking the middle? Might be a stretch since the shape of the gash really is more a crack than a clean fold, but worth thinking of.
Sounds like a good place for a fabled golden city to be hidden, too, since I'm betting Solution Nine is NOT our golden city.

I play both still too man :D I don't mind whatsoever that people play what they enjoy. Different games have different attractions and that's what I love about gaming as a whole.
Play what makes you happy. I have no interest in WoW but your health, happiness, and wellbeing is just as important as any XIV content you make for me.
If anything I'm HAPPY that people are coming back to WoW as it means the devs realized their mistakes and are making changes.
Switching games is a good thing. Grants new perspectives and makes things feel fresh when we return.

@@jabeltre1 You don't have to feel bad. I played WoW a long time ago, and that world will always have a special place in my heart, especially the lore from Warcraft 3 up to Wrath. But I am done with WoW, and have not the time nor the inclination to play again.
One of the great things about Final fantasy is you can take breaks and not feel punished for it.

The towering facades portion does make it sound like its all a simulated reality. Maybe they did upload their consciousness to a network. Can't inflict unending despair on a computer system's database lol

I know you love FF but I have been happy to see you back on WoW too! I am more on the WoW side but everything here looks great and I may have to check out FF more again after I dropped off a few years ago. I know as a fellow player it is hard to balance both games (especially when you are deep in the lore of both), but I hope you are able to find a nice balance and can play both without feeling overwhelmed!

You had to sub for a set amount of months in order to get the "Legacy" member status, that drops the sub down to 9.99. I can't remember the exact amount of months, but it was more than 1.

I'm thinking "Solution 9" is Mhach. The architecture looks a LOT like the pyramid. It was probably their "solution" to the calamity with the void ark being maybe, solution 7.
Wow this expansion is looking way different than I thought. I really like the clash of futuristic tech above adobe wild west and steam trains. I think Pyro missed it but they mentioned the area is flowing with electricity and I think the purple coloring of the city and power lines is made from thunder elemental crystal. I assume that this civilization discovered electricity early on due to the area being a hotbed of thunder element and developed high tech beyond the rest of the world. The big question then is why does the rest of the world not know about it and who are the people that live there? I'm only about half way through the video but I had to get those thoughts out.
I think they wont make a green mage but combine some of the spells of green mage into pictomancer spells

If you have the most recent lore book, vol.3, there are three alphabets mentioned; norvrandt, eorzea, and proto-alphabet. I believe one of the signs in solution 9 may be capable of being translated.
Could Solution 9 be an exclave of the 13th Shard?
I really want to see if we can visit the Dragonstar in for Cosmic Exploration, maybe terraform the different planets to support life again
My money is on it being the alternate timeline. Future Ironworks found a way to come back to the original timeline. They had to hide all the things because the ironworks symbol would be all over it. (in reference to the cyberpunk city)
That’s interesting and exciting. Considering how we saw the ironworks future before, do you think there could be two crystal towers, or that it could pop up in two different places int eh same plane at the same time?
@@davidbell7491 since it is 'solution 9' it is possible the city itself is a kind of ark that brought back a good chunk of the population. And it is connected to all those lighting strikes so that may be related to however it was powered in order to cross the rift.
What class was dual wielding the swords? I don't remember a DW Swords class...am I just having a lapse in memory?
Viper dual weilds swords (ffxiv original job). Ninja also technically dual weilds but daggers. Monk dual weilds fists.

Being in the Tokyo Dome is nuts. That place holds like 100k people at max. It’s cavernous. That is where NJPW holds their year end shows Wrestle Kingdom often to sold out crowds and it’s loud af even on streaming.
Oooooh loving Pictomancer and a potentially hotter G'raha with the graphical update. LOL Krile wearing the clover earrings in the full trailer seems very lore heavy and quite excited to see how her story unfolds.
Solution Nine gives that vibes for hm...I dunno? FF9 reference to Zidane as it is one of his Trance abilities, which is the limit break for that FF iteration. May relate to 2 worlds connected to each other (Gaia and Terra?). Grasping at straws but if I see something like a reference to Iifa tree there or something along that line, oh dear.
Eliminator looks like it could go Gestalt Drive ala FF13, and Arcadion might be a holographic or a simulation-type raid series and we'll be battling data lifeforms? Only one way to know so maybe let's wait until PLL or Dawntrail goes live XD

I didn't think I'd like Dancer at all but fell in love with the story & play style! I am happy for Kryle, it fits her well! I hope the story addresses the Final Days storyline for this part of the world! Did these people know what it was & what was actually happening? I wish they could make the Hrothgar males stand straight up like the females instead of being hunched over! It looks like Mother Nature at the top of that picture! Glad you're doing both games!
I also just wanna say, Krile was happy in the trailer, and I'm super happy for her to not be possessed, hostage, imprisoned, sidelined, experimented on, ostricized from her scholarly compatriots, overworked keeping the souls of her friends tethered through comas, underappreciated, dunked on by the Lalafell hater union, having Zenos dougie on up to ask if he can munch on the mothercrystal to maybe, hopefully, possibly kill one of her friends, or being beaten in a footrace by Tataru down several flights of stairs. This shit's art therapy for her lmao.

As far as Pictomancer goes, it's hardly the first job in FFXIV to have hints of "creation magic" to it. Current people aren't really capable of PURE creation magics currently but obviously that innate ability wasn't completely lost due to the sundering but instead was just greatly weakened. This is why most of the things that the current peoples of Eitherys create purely out of aether are not permanent but instead just brief flickers of that long lost potency. I do have a theory, however, that the paint that Pictomancers use is actually liquified aether crystals like what we saw back in 5.4 in the Matoya's Relict dungeon. The various colors stood out to me immediately as matching that colorful imagery of that part of the dungeon paired with the fact that each color seems to correspond to a specific elemental attack. It's also likely that you need to use various elemental attacks to build up to that masterpiece painting that they eluded to which would likely be a combination of those various colors that you've then mixed on the palette. In that sense, it would be a combination idea of Ninja's mudras paired with Red Mage's idea of mixing black and white magic to create Red Magic. Honestly, the more I sit and think about Pictomancer the more excited I am about the possibilities of the job and also just the idea of it having a completely different and unique aesthetic that will likely spice up combat quite a bit.

Very early theory about Solution Nine is that it may be related to the Second Umbral Calamity and the Twelfth Shard. Perhaps Solutions One to Eight revolved around stopping their Flood of Thunder, and when that failed, Solution Nine was to find a method to preserve their people in the resulting rejoining, transporting their last city into Eitherys. Hence the abundance of lightning in the surrounding area.
Would be a very interesting parallel to Golbez in the post-Endwalker story, who tried to do something similar with the Thirteenth so that his people could die. Meanwhile the theoretical Twelfth would instead try to have their people live.
There's also some interesting ideas revolving around FF9, a certain tree and a certain world that I'll refrain from going into since Pyro might not have played it yet, but those seem like potential plot threads for FF14

I am mainly an FFXIV player, and have been with the game since the launch of 1.0. I have always taken breaks. The game is designed for us to take breaks. For the past 3 years, I have spent a lot of time in WoW as well (another game I have played since launch, but the breaks I have taken in that game have been much, much longer). Both games are similar, but both are very different. So, when taking breaks in FFXIV, I play WoW (and other games, or watch TV shows / read books). So, don't feel bad or apologize for taking a break from FFXIV, that is what Yoshi-P expects you to do, and it is better to take breaks than burn out from a game. Burning out from a game is generally a bad feeling, so don't need anyone doing that.

38:27 I was under the impression that in WoW's story, you weren't THE hero. You were just another face among the sellswords and mercenaries that the Alliance called on to drive back the Horde, or another meat sack that happened to get the Horde's attention, and that your actions in that story were credited to the big characters you did them for, letting the important people, narratively and politically speaking, take all the credit except for the BIG BAD EVIL GUY GOING DOWN, but I digress.
Do you man, I'm glad the 14 community has grown from being so insecure that we couldn't honor the devs intention of stopping and playing other games during the downtime, when there's content we'll get content, when there's not you'll go do something else, such is the cycle as it was intended.
Most ppl in the community never cared what others do. Some cry babies in youtube/twitch comments don't represent entire community. I have never meet ffxiv who would only play this one game and didn't make breaks for others.
the theory about solution 9 being the 9th shard was plausible, but it still exists, it has not been absorbed by a rejoining, we could go there eventually, as emet suggests, unless these are migrants that have such advanced tech that they figured a way to cross the rift and bring their tech with them
the 11th shard does exist still
