- In today's video we are making a start on clearing out our 200+year-old farmhouse, what do we find?! We've been talking and had plans for a while on the farmhouse and what to do with it, unfortunately, Uncle Ian is no longer here to see us do it but he's definitely with us in spirit. We make a start clearing out a room of the house and find some really interesting things along the way!!!
Hope you enjoy, any questions hit me down in the comments below, thanks for watching! G'Luck

I had been wondering when this would happen. All the best making new memories in the house. Uncle Iain would be proud of everything you are achieving
Rip uncle Ian a lot of memories good luck with your development 👍👍
Only advice can give you is do the bedroom's up first, remove wall linings, insulation, insulation, insulation. Our 155 year old house was described as the coldest house, some people had ever been in, we finished last year for us, after living in it for 30 years, still 3 bedrooms needing external wall insulation and some internal.
Great to see new generation in house uncle Ian be with ye looking down on ye
This is going to be a wonderful home for you and Liv, have fun making it your own.
Best of luck in your house journey. Great project for videos. It reminds me of going through the house of a deceased relative in the 1970s. He had every Farmers Journal from Volume 1 Edition 1 in 1948 horded in a room. Unfortunately they were all shredded by mice and had to dumped.
Looks an amazing house so we have just had our evening meal now we are going to watch you so amazing Farmers Phil and liv and Father so good to watch so good luck 😉 it’s been a beautiful day here today but ready to relax with our favourite farmer’s.So so so so so good 😊.So so so so so 😊.
Uncle Ian would be proud
only bit of advise i would give is insulate the walls on the inside with 21/2 inch insulated plasterboard ........its costly but you will never regret doing it ..........our house only became a home after we did it ..........before that you were living in a fridge not a house ...................best of luck .....!
Your house is a mirror image copy of my late mother's home place in Cavan. The single story bit on the end in hers was a boiler house. Ours was bought for a newly wed Great Great Granduncle in 1840 and the second story was put on it then. The other end of the house continued on to a calf house, stable and cow house with a granary over them. Great to see you planning to live in the house. Wishing you every happiness there.
Nice to see the next generation moving in to an old farmhouse. It's sad when these homes leave the family or worse still, get abandoned altogether when someone dies.
Congratulations phil & liv on your new house, Liv and yourself phil will have it your home in no time, Great video please let there be a part 2, Best wishes..🎉
Best of luck to you both on a new adventure, fill that house with good times and new memories to go with the old that are there forever
I think the old homeplace is in safe hands.
This is brilliant really kind & generous to show meaningfull treasures of family history let's hope there's a picture of Father Phil as a boy somewhere show all😂👍
I've the 7th generation to do exactly what you've done. Our family farm home is 400 or 450 years old . Just do It bit by bit and best of luck with it.
You will find things that are priceless and family history to treasure it will take time to sort the house the way you both want it and take your time doing it
Ur uncle would be proud off u two .great video again Phil and liv. Them papers should go to a farming museum 🌟🚜
Lovely video at the rate your clearing the books and mags ,your grandkids will be finishing it off ,some great family history nd memories to remember lovely .
Very enjoyable video listening to you going through past papers and photographs
Real treasure trove. Bits and pieces of lives lived. 👍👍
Nice video next time do a tour of the rooms to show us it's seems a fine dry solid house
Hopefully you and Liv will redo the place and make it your own. You can have your family a nice home then to pass on to your kids.
Great video Phil uncle Ian loved his cattle
Great video there will be a lot of good memories there Phil @ liv 👍👍
Lot of history and new knowledge if you want in places like that :)
Reminds me of my uncles farm house full of history.
Good luck to you both on your adventure. ❤👍
This was fascinating. However, I was shocked when you picked up the 19th of August, 1969 edition of The Irish Times and said that Father Phil wasn't even born. That means that I am older than Father Phil!!!! I was just two days shy of being exactly 5 months old on that date!
I was 16 in 1969 and if memory serves me right, Elvis was in the chart's with a song called "in the ghetto" uncle Ian would have been the same age. Best of luck to young Phil and Liv.
This is going to sound extreme but I did it to my house, dig out the floor add 150mm insulation and underfloor heating, best thing I did to the house. You all work so hard going to need to order some pallets of time 😂
That will be an interesting project to be getting stuck into over the next few years, its a fine solid looking building it will make a lovely home for Liv and yourself 👍
Best of luck on your new venture. Uncle was ahead of his time .hopefully liv and yourself. Will make a good home .keep her lit
The best of luck 🤞
A place for both of you with many happy farming memories liv and Phil ..
Home 🏡 sweet home 🏡 for both of sounds like dog's 👍 want to join in ..ole happy easter 🐣 to you all
That house is just the perfect farmhouse. It will be exciting and frustrating to get it how you guys want it. As far as all the -papers and belongings left in the house, maybe allow yourself 2 large plastic tubs to keep memories. An organiser once said to me, acknowledge the item and the memory and let go, otherwise you will end up of rooms full of material you will probably not really look at going forward.
It looks well for 200 years old
As a Canadian the answer to do we breed elephants here is no haha, we do farm animals including bison/buffalo, elk but no elephants. Hope you find more treasures in your new home. Cheers from Alberta, Canada.
A trip down memory lane!!! Good luck with the clear out fair play to ye 👍👍
Good luck with renovation
Good video farmer phil
Thanks for bringing us along!
Soo Congratulations too you and Liv.. you's will have the place cleaned up in no time and put your own stamp on it 😊 all the best too you both for the future,Soo think a part 2 is in order 😉

Very good Phil. Lovely too go thru old stuff. There nothing like it
I can only wish you both the best of luck with renovations. And every joys luck and happiness when you both do move in. May you make many more wonderful memories in your new home. Happy decorating 😊 Liv and Phil
Ah Phil, you’d be surprised, the demand for elephant eggs is quite big here in Alberta.
Great job Phil 👍, it’s great to see a new generation of a family take on the old home stead, if walls could talk they would tell some lies 😂👍, all the best many happy year to come👍
Looks amazing. Great project, every best wish with it
Best of luck with the project! It brings me back to my youth as my good lady and I bought the house that my grandfather was reared in, it was extensively damaged by a fire and we spent the next 15 years getting it fixed up and extended etc, we moved in after 4 months ( with a two week old baby) took us a year to get the heating up and running but we got there in the end and raised our family and are at the point where we are thinking of moving out to pass it on to the next generation.
Goodman phil and liv, alot memories there, be great home for yee, best luck with it, keep videos coming
Good luck with the house, always interesting to see what you find when going through family’s items.
It's a good looking solid house the walls look nice and straight and the roof looks good I'm sure the two of you with a little help will have it whipped into shape in no time. I'm sure uncle Ian would be delighted that his house wouldn't fall into dereliction 👍
Best of luck with making it a home for yourself and Liv,it going to be a big walk down memory for you Phil, seeing things that you probably haven't seen since you were a young fella, alot of of interesting things to find yet, enjoy the journey,👍
Looking forward to this journey
Looks like a fun project. The best of luck !
Definitely a lot of interesting history in what you found. Could be worth getting digital scans of some of the farming papers for local history museums or farming museums.
Definitely have to agree with you about the advertising in the past looked way better than it does in todays papers.
Best of luck with the house renovations.
Tullamore Show 1995 was my first time at the show with my uncle (r.i.p)
I would have probably seen your uncle with his animals as all I was interested in were the cattle.
All the very best of luck with the journey to moving into the family homestead. I family home such as that deserves to be lived in. 💚
Congratulations you two that's going to be a very interesting journey that's some time capsule 👍👍
Best of luck to you both with your forever home

@@kieranosullivan02 😂😂😂😂
Great video best of luck to ye🤠
Great video, some of that stuff is country life/ rural museum material… maybe get advice from a historical society or national archives maybe? Best wishes getting your new home modernised and LIVable.
Woh.... your going to be there a while but the time you read all the papers... wonder what people in the next 20+ years are going to read when doing somthing similar... 🤔😒. Glad to see the house staying in the family.. and all the new memories it will be involved in.. stay safe 🏴. Ps mind and buy a paper or to and hide them under the carpet for future reference 😀.
Very best of luck with it 👍
Make sure you take all those old newspapers to the local library and get them scanned for the newspaper database, it would be fantastic to keep that's stuff in an archive!!
Looks like you got a lot of head of you Good luck
Another very interesting video.
Thanks for sharing
Liv strikes again, :D she is one amazing lady. Oh, Harry Cornock , the Funky Farmers son would appreciate some of the farm books :D
Well done great to see new life young life enjoy
Best wishes with this Project, Yee could put a little Museum together with All the stuff ye come across 🧐😌
Very good interesting stuff 👋🏻
we had 300 series when i was a teenager, now i have a couple of 8210's and can confirm the massey's were aweful in comparison .hopefully 3000 series were better back then
Just thinking that the local libraries, schools, young farmers & other farming groups might find a wee prize or two in what you don't want to keep. That a lovely opportunity to keep the family legacy growing and your ancestors would be proud of you both.
Ps. I hope you and liz are able to video the progress doing up the house, it's probably additional work that you dont need filming, editing while trying to run a farm and do up a house, but I subscribed to your channel on the off chance you will share your home renovation experience with us.
We will be keeping with updates on it but it’ll be every now and again as we get enough done to make a video out of it
You say at the end 'it'll be a long arduous process'. Jasus Phil, it doesn't have to be😯 long yes, arduous or not is in your attitude towards what you're doing... EXCITING would be a great way to go at it😉 you guys have it all ahead of ye😁 you made it sound like it was going to be torture😇😉😁😂😂
Should be an interesting project phil makes a change from the farming and machinery work
You should do a video on the whole process
Hi from Canada
👌
"Who is breeding elephants in Canada?" Brilliant!
Class❤
RIP Ian
Looks like a real find some of the heritage/local history folk in Longford library may have an interest and it might be a suggestion to contact them. Was Willie Stuart (SAWMILL) of Enneybegs a brother of your great grndfather? I ws there about 1952/3.
He was my great grandfather
@@FARMERPHIL3690 Small world ...and thanks for that.
You'll have to carry liv over the threshold when ye move in😄
Nice house
👍
Best of luck to you both on a new adventure.@6:08 what happen to your wrist
