Good vid, I would ditch the coal basket. In my other offset I put the 'grill' grate below the plane it sits on and put coals on that. Keeps them out of the ash and gives you more space. My OJ smoker is coming next week and I'll be doing a vid on that comparing it to my old Charbroil offset. Looking forward to having the reverse flow to even that heat out.
Thanks. I no longer use the basket. I run the v method. I have a video showing this. I have made some adjustments even since that video was made also. I love my OKJ’s all of them.
I love the Longhorn. I have been smoking on it about 1-2 times a week for a year now. I have learned a ton. I will be doing an updated way to burn in the smoker soon because of things I have learned. Thanks for watching.
I have found spraying it is easier. But wiping it down works also. I now spray prior to ever starting up a fire when seasoning the smoker. It allows for the smoker to not have streak marks on it.

New subscriber! I just got the same smoker! Waiting to try it out!
@@philliphall4506 thanks for the sub. This smoker is awesome!

Enjoyed the burn in. Looking at that star version also. Liked the one with the stainless steel shelves. Primo.

My longhorn reverse loves 11-12" splits and a full chimney of coals
I have a more recent video with the way I run it now. I use the V method with a chimney of coals and then 11-12 inch splits.
I tried the v method but it didn't work to well for me so it's just coals and splits in my fire box
Good stuff 👍🏻
Thanks. Can’t wait to spend some more time with it.
So this thing is a over priced char broiler 😂😅 give or take looks like cheap sheet metal 😮💨
Wouldnt wiping it with oil work better
