I think this girl is very wise, don't get me wrong. But I don't necessarily think it's because of herself alone... It's also because her mother respects her enough to grow in her OWN understanding and wisdom, she allows her to articulate her own opinions and feelings as an equal and actually listens. She's an amazing mom☺️

I love how smart the daughter is and the open dialogue she has with her mom.
I can't imagine the daughter ever having asked her mom - 'But why?' and her mom replying. 'Because I said so!' 😀

TheMovieMyLife your comment just made me cry. It made me think about how lucky other children were/are not to have that experience of their parents telling them "because I said so". It's a very ineffective and lazy way of parenting. Assuming that their parents actually taught them lessons and spoke to them respectfully. As pondered this, I just had an epiphany that I'm afraid to have children; I am very displeased with the way my parents parented me. I'm afraid of becoming them, as they were my major influences on how to be parents.

    • @jess1126

thats how i have been raised too, but its not who i am and the same goes for you :) it's part of your journey and it's a good thing we don't have to do the mistakes our parents did by our own, instead we can learn from it. So its also a good thing that we are raised like that. Don't be afraid of the future and the mistakes you'll make in future. Just give ur best, with your knowledge you already know more than ur parents knew back then :) Trust in yourself ^.^ u decide with kind of parent u gonna be, not the way u were raised like :)

My favorite part of this video is how the mother has her daughter answer her own questions about why she couldn't be on certain sites on the internet. My dad was/is an excellent communicator: when he was disciplining, he would have me say aloud what I had done wrong and ways I could improve. When I wasn't allowed to go somewhere or do something, we would talk through his reasoning. The time he took to explain developed a deep level of trust between us, because I always knew that he was coming from a place of love, and those messages sunk in deeper when we were the ones who could reason out loud. Communication is SO key to development; it just takes a little more effort on the part of the parent to take the time to sit down and talk with their kids. All moments are teaching moments! I'm so pleased to see that there are other parents like that out there, because I know how much it will benefit and empower this little girl in the future.

Alexa's a prime example of the ideal dream of all parents - that their children grow up to be better versions of themselves. She has many of the great qualities of her mother in at least twofold measure on top of her own unique traits as a person. Instead of wallowing in self pity about the fact that no one would be a friend to her at school, she took initiative and became a friend to those who were lonely like her. She's a natural born leader and a gifted speaker. She's one of those remarkable souls who lead by good example just by being true to themselves and their strong sense of humanity. I wish this young lady a successful, happy and beautiful life.

"I don't know why I love you. You're a part of me. And you being a part of me has taught me that loving yourself is an amazing thing as well". Never in my life I had thought about it like this. I guess we tend to identify love as dependence to other person (wether it's romantic love or not) when maybe it can also be about someone else teaching us how to love ourselves by accepting them in our lives and more importantly, accepting the love we're getting from them. I feel inspired now, thank you.

I'm so glad you brought them back! The little girl is so intelligent but I noticed in this episode that it's because she has an intelligent mother. Her parenting has changed as her daughter grew and the way she communicates with a 9 year old is different from when her daughter was 7. It's amazing! I can only hope to have this connection with my future kids if I have any. They aren't afraid to express their feelings and talk about things that are awkward and uncomfortable. The love between them is so strong and it shows through the nurturing from mom and admiration from daughter. Take care in Mexico!

Such an important conversation for the mother to share reasons why she places boundaries on the internet. I remember I was resentful for my dad doing that, but he never made me fully understand why he did that. Also - when she described it felt like her job to cheer people up in the playground - I was moved to tears. I would not be surprised if she grew up to be an activist too.

She does not seem to feel like she has to act like her daughter’s friend or a strict mother to get her daughter’s love, respect and trust. This mother is a perfect example of a medium between the two, she’s the perfect example of a mother. Her daughter is so articulated, so kind, and the mother answers all her daughter’s question as if she’s an adult, because she knows she will be able to understand and learn with every answer. I hope we see them again when the daughter is older, in her teens and I hope their bond is still as intact and full of love. I just can’t get over how well they communicate and understand EACH OTHER.

This little girl captured my heart the first time. Even back then, you could just tell instantly that this girl was something extraordinarily special. I always wondered when this duo would be back. And with this video, I fell in love with how their relationship goes both ways. The girl is wise, and she's so fortunate to have a mother who recognises that and doesn't limit her but also knows how to keep her grounded. The mother doesn't think that Alexa's too young to understand things. She sees her for exactly who she is and makes her understand why Alejandra has to do certain things as a mother. And while Alejandra reminds Alexa of just how special she is, Alexa is humble about it. And I love the respect they have for each other. They remind me a lot of my relationship with my mother.

This duo is amazing. This child will definitely grow up and have a major impact on the world. God bless her parents for raising her the way they are. I could see why she couldn't think of anything she'd want to change about her mother.

We're going to see her as an activist, writer, and other things because her mom just prophesied over her life!!!

You can see how much implicit trust Alejandra has for her mother. And the unconditional love. Exactly how I feel about my dearly departed mother... Her final words are exactly what I would say about my Mama! 💜
