I feel like Mario Run would have a lot more replay value if one of the modes had an endless run where you need to collect as many coins as possible. Structured sort of like the final boss, it’s Subway Surfers/Temple Run but you move vertically opposed to horizontally. Swiping the screen up or down to move to layers.
I would play the shit out of that. Maybe they could add the spin from galaxy as an attack or powerups to make things more interesting. Edit: I typed this before remembering crash bandicoot on the run was a thing that existed, and it also had a spin attack. It would work kinda like that.

Super Mario Run is my favorite Nintendo mobile game, mostly because you pay for it and you don’t need to deal with all the bs of other mobile games The game itself it’s fine, it’s fun, it’s a decent challenge
I personally think SMR is a pretty good time for being a mobile game. It’s actually decently repayable, with Toad Rally pitting you up against the shmoves of others and unlocking buildings in the shop for your kingdom, and Remix 10 sending you through a random assortment of 10 small levels in a row. It’s a pretty simple game, and compared to other mobile games it might not be as expansive, but a simple 2D Mario on your phone is still pretty good. About that point of pokemon go impacting mainline pokemon sales, that's a very big misunderstanding. People who played pokemon go when it was trendy, weren't the same people who bought pokemon SS or SV. People who play "FREE" to play games are simply people who aren't willing to play for a game. I liked Dragalia Lost. I really wish they made a Switch game of the IP or one switch successor. Its a shame for that IP to be gone forever and never be in home console.
I think what killed Mario Run was a matter of two elements: 1- Pricing, it's the most well known thing given the "standards" for mobile gaming at the time, you could have gotten something just as fulfiiling as Mario Run for either cheaper or just free. Hell, even if it was better than most auto-runners, it needed to be a 100/10 perfect addicting game in order to convince people that it was better to spend money than to play for free. 2- Nintendo pulled the dumbest decission and made the game Online-Only. Which maybe in 2023 doesn't sound too bad today despite DRM's being the biggest insult of the industry, but that was basically what truly killed off the hype for this game IMO. It was at least damn sure in 2016, that people wouldn't always be online, especially on a mobile phone where mobile games were mostly designed to be time-killers for when you're in a mall or just outside when you're probably not connected to the internet. So not only do you have a game where you have to pay more than usual on this platform in order to get the full experience, you also limit people from playing it unless they're either at home or spending their phone data.
It is not that people werent accustomed to online only games, instead, Mario Run was online only just because Nintendo was afraid of piracy. Every other free to play game on smartphones do require internet connection to show ads and microtransactions and people understand that, but Mario Run is mostly single player and any paid mobile game doesnt have online requirements like Mario Run
I still have Mario Run and Mario Kart tour in my phone. I played the others but got bored and uninstalled them. I think that Nintendo was experimenting with the pricing seeing if people would play for a game. I think 10 bucks is good enough for a game that is complete. I think is absurd how people whine for spending 10 dollars on a game but they don't care spending 100 times more in microtransactions. I doubt will see a Mario Run 2. I doubt Nintendo will release mobile games anymore. They did these to survive during the Wiiu/3DS to Switch transition and it worked. They haven't announced new ones and even some were discontinued.
Can we talk about how many Nintendo Mobile Games died already? -Dr. Mario World -Pokemon Rumble Rush -Dragalia Lost -Mitomo -Pokemon Duel (never released outside Japan)
This game is really fun. I found doing 100% a fun little challenge, Toad Rally and Remix 10 are fun to do as well. It can get repetitive but they are always fun modes to go back go after some time not playing. The game is very expensive though, although the game does go on sale every now and then so if you were to get it do it then.
I got Super Mario Run for my 4-year-old son last year and he loved it. It was easier for him to play at the time than the Switch games. Now he’s more interested in 3D World and the other games on Switch, but as an entry point, Super Mario Run was a good choice.
This game may not be super deep for an adult, but my daughter absolutely loves it. The 1-touch controls and short levels are perfect for a young ones first game. Plus, the fact that there no in-game purchses means I dont have to worry about ads and such messing things up.
And One More thing !!!!! It woulda been cool if they made a Mario mobile game with Pokémon go features . Like instead of catching Pokémon you have to break bricks , collect coins , meet people in public , defeat goombas etc etc like they could implemented the VR …
I played this back in the day. It was fine. I was actually happy at the payed model it used, since you could demo the game free, then purchase later if you did like it. If you didn’t like it, then you didn’t lose anything from trying it. Probably the biggest thing I absolutely hated though was the simplified one touch controls. Yeah it made the game easy to play, but it absolutely ruined any sort of intentional, precision platforming. I died/ lost way too many times because of the lack of control.
Not to he that guy, but I feel like that's a skill issue, the only times I died in the game was due too going after the special coins. If I just went to beat a level, I feel like the game is too easy
As a guy who can't afford a Switch lite or a switch I still play Mario kart tour and smr on my 4 year old device. :"). And also retro games on my phone
when the Mario movie was coming out, they slashed the price in half to $5. If they launched it at that cost, it probably would've done way better for what it was offering
I bought Mario run ages ago and still have not beaten it, got stuck on the ghost level in world 5 but I still think the game was solid fun and well worth the $10 entry fee!
The Fire Emblem mobile game is interesting. Its still doing really well and keeping the games in the minds of players. It also makes a metric ton of money especially compared to every other Nintendo mobile game.
It's a gacha game with appealing anime characters and waifus. Makes sense why it does so well, plus the fact that the gameplay is 100% Fire Emblem but optimized for mobile play, very satisfying and fun.

1- Pricing, it's the most well known thing given the "standards" for mobile gaming at the time, you could have gotten something just as fulfiiling as Mario Run for either cheaper or just free.
Modern Daisys first appearance in a mainline mario platformer game
-Dr. Mario World
-Pokemon Rumble Rush
-Dragalia Lost
-Mitomo
-Pokemon Duel (never released outside Japan)
wow when the Miitomo music started playing I got hit with a little dose of nostalgia
I am one of the owners of the full version of Mario Run
Wonder Flowers just added to Mario run lol. I think Run is a fantastic game.
Scott forgot to finish the hidden colored star pipes levels in his super Mario Run. Those levels puts your sanity to test. 😮
I still play Mario run and I love it, I wouldn't pay for it but for free the remix levels that take tickets are fun and varied.
I genuinely think Mario Run could get a second wind as an Apple Arcade title with virtually no effort.
Loving the variety here at Scatt’s Stosh
I’m honestly a fan of Stott’s Scash myself
"It was fiiiiiine" followed by "I got some entertainment out of it" is officially his catchphrase
Hey Scott Anthony here wanted to say I love all you stuff thnx for the great content much love my guy
The remix 10 music constantly plays in my head. I couldn’t tell you why
This game controls super well and mario moves slow enough that you can paragraph most stuff
The fact that you mentioned Rayman Jungle Run, made me happy.
looking back ..
lol time is going fast..
this was not even too far back Mario Run
smoked a joint, listened to some music, made a chorizo sandwich and a bowl of cereal and then ate that while watching this. cozy vibes
Super Mario Run was fucking awesome.
Should've been permanent tbh
0:00 Scott advertising his UA-cam channel.
I bought Mario run ages ago and still have not beaten it, got stuck on the ghost level in world 5 but I still think the game was solid fun and well worth the $10 entry fee!
I remember miitomo. It was intresting.
Sometimes I forget Scott is colorblind until I hear him say “then you collect the blue coins”
hes right tho?
@@boopsdoopsI think they coins are pink, purple, and black (it looks very dark green)
The Fire Emblem mobile game is interesting. Its still doing really well and keeping the games in the minds of players. It also makes a metric ton of money especially compared to every other Nintendo mobile game.
Because it’s fun
It's a gacha game with appealing anime characters and waifus. Makes sense why it does so well, plus the fact that the gameplay is 100% Fire Emblem but optimized for mobile play, very satisfying and fun.
I was addicted to mii tomo , it was great if you had friends , it was just a social media
