Long time player but new to resto shaman, and something important I've picked up in my research is that the aoe burst of healing from CB comes out of your character, not wherever the totem happens to be.
I don't ever comment on videos but this video was great and super informative. Your delivery of the information was great as well, very easy to listen to. Please make more videos! Subscribed for future content.
Cloudburst is obviously the go to over healing stream totem if you can be proactive and optimise use during AOE damage however with so much else to focus on this season and only pugging I find healing stream far more reliable. When you time it right the healing numbers can be insane but if you’re just a few seconds late it’s wasted.
The thing is: You want to put big heals out during the totem is active to fill it good, but u dont want to top everybody with those big heals because then the CB Totem would be senseless. :D
As a Resto newbie, thank you for this explanation and the link to the CB WA, simple and effective! Of your own experience, would you also run CB in raids now that most of the fights are single target oriented and a lot of group stacking?
You’re welcome! Yes Cloudburst is good in raid as well, as long as you can consistently keep it on cooldown, and use it to either prepare or respond to large raid damage events. It can take some practice, and you may find that living stream totem outperforms it on a “raw HPS” basis so could be good for a couple fights, but proper usage of CBT will always be better, and can act as a mini-cooldown for the raid if used well.
Loved your video, thank you for your work! My biggest area of weakness as an rsham is using CB correctly. Would you happen to be able to link your sound WA for CB?
Hi! If you mean the bars in the center left of the screen, that’s the ElvUI mod and the default party frames for dungeons (or pretty close to it at least). There are other options that people use as well for party frames, a lot of healers like Vuhdo frames, for example.
I've tried to use CB so many times, and it does pretty well, but I always seem to fall back to the normal healing totem which has better output for consistent healing in my view. Have to keep in mind tho that I'm entering 20s territory now, so maybe it gets better use on higher keys. Thanks for the vid, great examples!
There’s nothing wrong with healing stream, in fact, in some situations it’s a more efficient totem, and actually one of our most efficient healing casts! But the control offered by Cloudburst, i.e. the ability to control when you want to release the healing, is what differentiates it, and will make it very useful in higher keys.
I always wanted a WA to see how much CbT has stored in it that way by popping it early it doesn’t hit like a wet noodle. Anybody know if that’s a thing?
If you mean how to recall it, you just press the button again while the cloudburst totem is in progress. When to recall it is all up to you, usually if some large damage has happened, or if someone is going to die.
ill never understand why people don't move party frames to the right side so its not so unnatural to move your mouse so far from your resting position if your right handed
What are you talking about? there is exactly the same distance to the left as to the right, and by the way as a healer you do not move the mouse to the rest position it is all the time over the frames

That's huge, thank you. New to the class, probably would have been months before I figured it out, if I did at all
Cloudburst is one of those things that just doesn't feel too good to use until you get a weakaura to actually track it.
Agreed!
I also agree. Once I got a good WA, I kind of enjoy using it again haha
CBT and HTT are the main reasons I play resto shammy. It’s a really fun play style especially with all the different utilities available.
Great video too btw.
Super useful video!
(Plus i loved that paint drawing, it's awesome lol)

Thank you! I’m on break right now unfortunately but I’ll definitely be back in the fall 👊

Could you link the weakaura you have for Stoneskin?
What is this Addon named that you use for the health bars of your team? Sorry I’m quite new to healing classes 😅

New resto shaman here. New player in general really. What add ons are you using ?
Can I ask what StatusBar Texture it is on your UnitFrames ? Can u Link your EVilUI settings ?
great explanation thjank you.
Any addon or weakaura to indicate when big burst aoe damage is coming in 15 sec or so? it would be great for cloudburst tótem timing.
Bigwigs has countdowns
@@Belugafishcat yeah, tho, but im so bad at setting it up with timers and important boss skills and stuff

wago.io/CloudburstValue Try this one, if this is the type of thing you are looking for
Can you share your ElvUI?
What is the best way you are recalling the totem early?
