  • In this University of Virginia program, Ferid Murad, winner of the 1998 Nobel Prize in physiology, discusses his research into nitric oxide, some of its many biological effects, and its application in drug development for numerous diseases. He and two other researchers earned their 1998 Nobel Prize for discoveries during the 1980s concerning nitric oxide as a signaling molecule in the cardiovascular system, and how the molecule serves to relax blood vessels. The work initiated a new chapter in several areas of biomedical research and initiated new therapies for the treatment and diagnosis of heart disease and other serious inflammatory diseases.

Dr. Louis Ignarro, a noble prize himself, has also confirmed Nitric Oxide aids tremendously in blood flow. Personally, my family has tried L-Arginine and Nitric Oxide as supplements, never been better!! These help in issues such as DVT or Deep Vein Thrombosis (clots), post heart attacks, pulmonary embolism, varicose veins and such.

Same Nobel Prize. It was shared by 3 men: Furchgott, Ignarro, and Murad. Good call 👍

NO's involvement with the "itises" i.e. inflammation. Combines with super-oxide to form peroxinitrite. Yikes!

    NO's double-edged sword.

ADMA gets a mention. It's at the head of a list that concludes with a supposition that these situations are crying for the development of an appropriate I-arginine supplement (like Neo40).

Situations calling for NOS2 inhibitors: conditions leading to sepsis.

Caldwell Esselstyn, cardiologist who uses lifestyle medicine that has been proven to reverse heart disease in some cases, has patients eat kale about 6-8 times a day to produce nitric oxide which helps repair the endothelium. I have no doubt that super-oxides are created but it is proven clinically to have a positive effect. It might depend on the amount, also, I would think.
I follow information regarding nitric oxide due to Esselstyn's use, and I eat 4 ounces of kale for nutrition daily, including the nitric oxide and blood vessel benefit. Virtually everybody eating the standard western diet has some level of atherosclerosis. I let it go until the 50s but found the whole food-plant based diet which stops progression and can reverse the stenosis in many cases.

Hi. Thanks for sharing this great presentation. Would it be possible to have the Powerpoint presentation used in the video? The recording is not clear enough to read it unfortunately.

Dr Murad, Nobel Laureate and truly great physician, concludes that, "It's been shown certainly in animals and humans that these things [L-arginine and antioxidant supplements] improve vascular function and integrity." He found the Holy Grail of Health, but general ignorance persists to the detriment of millions.

Amazing vid, I just realized that Mario updated his favorite way to tackle ED and it's crazy! Although what he previously talked about was pretty decent, it was difficult to follow, I just go'ogled the latest by Mario Volpstein, it's so much simpler and potent now!
