@@neilr4867 so I gave it a go today. Did back and biceps. Really felt like it made a difference. I was able to cheat the last couple of reps out on a couple of exercises so I could do the slow negative ones after I got to failure on the positive. The trouble is I train alone, muscles like chest are going to be a problem as you can’t cheat say a bench press up once you’ve gone to failure. Maybe I’ll try the smith machine or something.
@@steveshorter how's it been going for you? I took a week off bc my shoulder was giving me problems, undoubtedly from over training. Came back today and hit chest and back but not with crazy volume. When Dorian Yates says you should be in the gym for only 45mins to 1hour training, what sort of program would you use? I do an upper lower split 4 times a week at the moment and I'd find it impossible to hit the required volume in just 1hour, I take about 2 hours instead.

Yates was and always will be a different animal in the gym than anyone else i've seen. Ronnie was a monster and lifted crazy heavy, but intensity, Yates still in unbeaten.
Yates is one of the few Mr Olympias who actually seems to have a good understanding of training and nutrition principles, and who gives advice that your average natural gym-goer could take and get solid results with. When I listen to people like Phil Heath, Jay Cutler, Ronnie Coleman, Dexter Jackson, or Shawn Rhoden give advice, it always amazes me that these people got so far in the sport whilst having relatively little in-depth knowledge of training. Just goes to show that genetics and drugs go a long way.

Endless list? 2 injuries for winning the olympia 6 times isnt endless. If that's your excuse for not training hard sorry to tell you mate ur making excuses. He was also on peds, meaning his tendons didn't develop as fast at his muscle bellies did, which increases the risk of injury.

It works. I took this approach late last year and I was able to put on a fair bit of size in just 5-6 weeks
Looked so much more swole than normal lol. Doesn't even make sense in my mind but I'm going to continue this way, with more rest than less. I was working out 5-6 days a week
The level of knowledge this guy has its amazing. Straight words from experience.
The collab i never knew i needed
Very lucky! Must be an honour to train with Mr Yates! I remember watching his blood and guts videos on UA-cam before my workouts back in the days.
When Dorian Yates says you should be in the gym for only 45mins to 1hour training, what sort of program would you use? I do an upper lower split 4 times a week at the moment and I'd find it impossible to hit the required volume in just 1hour, I take about 2 hours instead.
You just have to increase the intensity bro. His training is based off training to absolute failure for 1-2 working sets
youre doing fine.. Upper lower is the best for natties. and 1 hour definitely isnt enough. Keep doing what youre doing
Words of wisdom from the best, but Arnie will always be the 🐐 awesome vid and congrats for training with this man!
This is such great stuff - training for 27 years in so many ways and this Dorian / Mentzer style is so fantastic !… I’m adopting this method for 6-8 weeks I can’t wait to see how well it’s going to work !… 51 , started at 24 … 150lbs , 215 now … bodybuilding is my identity … all natty and I’m great shape !…. Thanks Mike for the vids !
I really like Yates is talking about the training principles from Mike. God bless!
Fantastic training session with great knowledge 👍💪
Great video. Never get tired of hearing from Dorian...Pure motivation! 💯💯
I could listen to Dorian Yates talk about training all day. Thanks for posting.
Genuinely the most educational video I've seen in a long time. Does Dorian have his own channel?
Dorian Yates is such a Legend of bodybuilding, so down to earth and a great guy
By far the best training method ever produced. Thanks for posting. 👍
DY mentioning steroids and Mike is just 🤐
He sure shut right up 😂
They both are on juice
Τον ανησυχούσε η κρεατινη για την τριχόπτωση και όχι το Masteron και το winstrol που καταπίνει κάθε μέρα 😂
This is brilliant! Q and A on point. We need a shoulder and tri session please :)
Great video!!! Just goes to show you don’t need to train loads but train smart…
Ladies & Gentlemen, "The Shadow"
Super Mike. Training with the legend and a great personality. 👍
Dorian was my favorite bodybuilder back in the day without ever listening him , now he e is on the top of the list even more
Yates was and always will be a different animal in the gym than anyone else i've seen. Ronnie was a monster and lifted crazy heavy, but intensity, Yates still in unbeaten.
Great to see a body building legend pass down his experience and training tips to the next generation👍👍
Wow, Dorian giving the best tips, these videos are very helpful! Thanks guys, great video!
Dorian giving mike a lot more respect this time around. i guess 1.3 million followers will do that for ya
This video was sick, and big Mike asked all the right questions. Always raising the bar with the fitness content and keeping it interesting.

Dorian is fucking legend. So good to talk to him!
Imagine if Mike wasn’t Natty with those Genetics 🧬 he would be the next Dorian Yates💪🏼❤️🥇🔥
He's definitely not natty lol
Dorian is such an incredible man. In the gym and out. I listen to him at least once a day now. He’s my idol! True inspiration
Dorian listing off his endless list of injuries and Mike questioning why the fuck he's following this mad man's training methodology of failure followed by 30 more negatives, followed by a drop set, followed by 20 negatives, followed by a superset. CNS meltdown and tendons hanging on by a thread
Endless list? 2 injuries for winning the olympia 6 times isnt endless. If that's your excuse for not training hard sorry to tell you mate ur making excuses. He was also on peds, meaning his tendons didn't develop as fast at his muscle bellies did, which increases the risk of injury.
@@FightSceneMMA Oh, wait you didn't know? 😂😂😂🙄 Mike isn't natty my brother 😘 Shit, sorry to break it to you like this 💔🙁
@@connor8636 Ofc Mike is not natty my guy. You're still making excuses for not training hard.
@@FightSceneMMA Train hard? Bro, I Tren hard. Do you want me to PM my training split and a selfie? So many assumptions, or should I just link my Only Fans? You're obsessed
@@connor8636 Nah idc about you, you're just questioning one of the best bodybuilders throughout history and acting like you know better.
I absolutely LOVE Dorians shirt. A core memory to this video is at 14:22 where he starts breaking down what he learned from; Mr. Arthur Jones, Mr. Mike Mentzer & his own fusion of his experiences when he trained. Yates is a landfill of bodybuilding knowledge. Bravo & thank you for keeping High Intensity Training, alive 🔥⛓
