@@listrahtesat most he was only ever loyal to robb because he thought he would win and even then he could have been planning to betray him for a while
@@listrahtes The Boltons and the Starks hated each other for a long time and Roose was always a villain, he didn't become one when he chose to betray Robb. Ramsay is the product of this, Roose once raped a woman and killed her husband after they got married without his approval. The woman then showed up at the dreadfort later on with Ramsay. Dude was always a scumbag.
I don't think Roose was ever loyal to Robb, he was loyal to himself only. In the books it's indicated that he intended to betray Robb even before he messed up the marriage agreement. He'd stab anyone in the back if it could make his position a bit better. He's also a r@pist and he enables all of Ramsay's atrocities, so he's pretty clearly a villain. @@listrahtes
@@anatoldenevers237 let's leave out the books. In the show he only changes sides after Robb has made some incredible dumb decisions that eliminated his chances to win. At that point it's just game of thrones and not a villain. Other than the Starks everyone does it. Even the stark kids lie and backstab littlefinger. Sure he is a rapist like again most in got. Bronn talks about it and uses forced prostitutes as does Tyrion, imo the Bolton's were so cruel because they had to fight the most violent enemies for a long time like Wildlings and the sea kingdom. Ramsay was the outlier.
I always wanted a scene with Roose Bolton, Tywin Lannister and Beric Dondarrion having a conversation. They could make a boring discussion about taxes sound epic and badass.
Andrew Wilcox Well the actor who portrays Roose does have a soft but gruff voice and always talks in a low monotone voice which translates better on screen than a barely audible voice.
That's precisely what it was. Roose is colder, and more calculated than Tywin Lannister. You'll never see this man leave the room in a rage after arguing with his son, you'd see him troll his son relentless trying to boil his anger over and leave satisfied without a smile on his face.
I imagine this playing out like so many Family Guy gags: *R*"I'm afraid I've been sent your sister's head -" *J*(Horrified gasp) "Of flowers in celebration of her father's victory at Blackwater Bay." (Phew) "Still, not even the finest of flowers could compensate for your father's death -" (Horrified gasp) "-ly gaze; I must confess that it causes me to tremble." (Phew) "Alas, all must tremble in misery at the thought of what befall your innocent little nephew -" (Horrified gasp) "- bird droppings on his head at the victory feast? Most unstately." "PLEASE STOP TALKING!"
IMO Michael McElhatton, along with Charles Dance and Jason Momoa, is the best casting choice for the character. He really brings every aspect of Roose Bolton to life perfectly.
Jason Momoa and Khal Drogho are fucking overrated. All he did in the series was speak in a gibberish language and look tough and in the book he's not a very interesting character either.
The TV Roose is much better than book Roose because the one in the books sounds very cartoonish... pink cloak, long hair and pale face. Its like an anime villain in ghost fighter.
+Matheus Lacerda that's, like, a hobby in their house. Absolutely (relatively) normal. Though Roose didn't approve of Ramsay's methods, he did nothing to interfere.
Lord bolton is a ruthless and cunning man, capable of great cruelty. The tywin lannister of the north, kinda. I think he murdered robb personally to pay tribute to his ancestors some way (since they are old enemies). What better way to remove any remaining alliance between the houses then to kill a stark king?
He is nothing like Tywin. He's an ass hole, they hate the Boltons in the North. Plus they attack their allies for no reason then to just be cruel. Eventually the North would throw them out if they were in power long enough.
Young Turk They certainly did not hate them before(not in the near past) or during the war. Roose Bolton was always by Robb's side and Robb and Cat trusted him. For good reason too, since he actually was loyal to Robb up until to the point he saw that he's lost the war and following him any further would only get him killed.
Rafael Aguirre Poroshenko: "President Putin, any news from Kiev?" Putin: "Haven't you heard? The Euromaidan laid siege to the presidential palace, stormed the palace with thousands of men, and president Yanukovich...how can I put this..." Poroshenko: o_O Putin: "Yanukovich is alive and well. He escaped by helicopter." Poroshenko falls to his knees. Putin: "Poroshenko isn't well. Quick, annex Crimea."
"Roose has no feelings, you see... He does not love, he does not hate, he does not grieve. This is a game to him, mildly diverting. Some men hunt, some hawk, some tumble dice. Roose plays with men."
Jaime is the King of Being Trolled. Let's see all the instances of him being trolled: 1)Robb trolling him on the Battle of Whispering Woods and capturing him. 2)Locke trolling him. "Oh, you want supper?" BAM!! *hand cut* 3)Roose the Moose trolling him in this scene 4)Bronn trolling him again and again during all those practises 5)Oberyn trolling him by making him think that Tyrion will be free after he put the spear in the Mountain's chest. 6)Bronn trolling him on the whole journey to Dorne 7)Cersei trolling him by fucking Lancel ,Osmund Kettleburg and the Moonboy for all he knows 8)Blackfish trolling him in the face-off at Riverrun 9)Tommen trolling him by joining the Faith and the Crown 10)Euron Dickboy trolling him practically on all the scenes where they are together 11)Olenna Tyrell trolling her way to death 12)Daenerys and her army trolling him on his way back to KL 13)Cersei again trolling him by ordering the Mountain to kill him and then rescinding back her order
Roose characters was amazing. He loves to do stuff like this, but man. Jaime's reaction and his despair is totally underrated here. He lost his hand and was contemplating whether or not to commit suicide. He was literally done with life.
I feel the same way about Roose Bolton that I do about Tywin Lannister. They are both amazing characters, portrayed by brilliant actors, and complete badasses to boot. But you can't deny they are both also massive bastards.
+ghoawaynetcabo If someone such as a Bolton knew of Qyburn's superhuman/necromantic level of medicinal skills and what he can create and what he can do for them and what he can do to their enemies, they would've loved him.
Tywin is doing all his terrible things for his family and his legacy since he is so obsessed with it whilst Roose is very much doing terrible things because he is evil
SuperTechmarine Vladmir Putin=Roose Bolton. Both loaded with power, both bold, both look alike, both now rule the north, both are sanctioning another's land lol.
This is actually a technique to give someone broken like Jaime courage to continue. He announces something terrible and then says it was not true. George R.R. Martin actually does that through the Theon and Bran arc. We believe Bran and Rickon are dead, so we're very sad, then when we learn they're actually alive, our joy at the moment makes us even forget the sack of Winterfell.
Many people think he was "trolling" but actually his character is a very sadistic one just as his son and it's pretty evident in this scene, he at one point was doing this to Ramsay, the conversation where him, Ramsay and his wife were having the dinner table scene.
+starkk19 Roose Bolton is the Tywin Lannister of the North, and you want my prediction for season 6? Ramsay Bolton murders Roose Bolton (his *father*) and becomes the new heir to House Bolton.
+cinevadinsighet They do have a lot of similarities, true. But in my opinion, the key difference is this: while Tywin is defined by his pragmatism and total devotion to House Lannister's legacy, Roose is a true sadist at heart. Essentially, he's like Tywin if he took pleasure in cruelty.

Michael McElhatton has the best voice on a show full of great voices. Dude is smoother than silk.
I always wanted a scene with Roose Bolton, Tywin Lannister and Beric Dondarrion having a conversation. They could make a boring discussion about taxes sound epic and badass.
Right? This guy and Beric! It's that Mark Lanegan quality in their voices ... utterly mesmerizing.
@@davideberhardt6150 Shoutout to mr Lanegan, may he rest in peace
That ending scene on Roose's face, makes him look almost exactly like a younger Tywin.
i like the voice of roose bolton on the tv show version better than the book version
Surly with the book version you're creating your own "voice" up?
no. his voice is so soft u can barely hear it yet it still makes all the other lords silent.
as asa I dont think you get what i mean...
Kyajju K Thats how his voice is described in the books. Its one of the ways that he expresses his power, by making everyone strain to here him.
Будь у Болтона такой могучий дом и армия как у Тайвина, он бы его победил в лёгкую.
This is why Roose Bolton is my favorite character.
I imagine this playing out like so many Family Guy gags: *R*"I'm afraid I've been sent your sister's head -"
*J*(Horrified gasp)
"Of flowers in celebration of her father's victory at Blackwater Bay." (Phew)
"Still, not even the finest of flowers could compensate for your father's death -"
(Horrified gasp)
"-ly gaze; I must confess that it causes me to tremble." (Phew)
"Alas, all must tremble in misery at the thought of what befall your innocent little nephew -"
(Horrified gasp)
"- bird droppings on his head at the victory feast? Most unstately."
"PLEASE STOP TALKING!"
You should write parodies for a living. That was fucking brilliant...
I just pictured Roose humming the Trololo song as he walked away. Now I can't stop laughing...
My God, the writing in the early seasons was as good as it possibly could get. The dialogue game was insane.
@@bbsolpico1 but that's kinda the point of the Boltons ... they ARE *supposed* to look almost inhuman!! Vampire-like... OTHERS-like... -_-
Bolton looks like Putin lol
xp0lym4thx yeah, he's fucking badass
xp0lym4thx He’s basically a medieval love chid of daniel craig and putin
xp0lym4thx And acts like him too.
I think your onto something..
+Matt Draut omg this comment is the best.
Man how did this awesome man fall to shithead ramsay, He deserved a better exit.
he wasnt aware that ramsay is a psychopath
+Altair Auditore he know what ramsey was capable of
+Altair Auditore he was aware that ramsay skins people alive. if that is no psyco, i dont know what it is
+Matheus Lacerda that's, like, a hobby in their house. Absolutely (relatively) normal. Though Roose didn't approve of Ramsay's methods, he did nothing to interfere.
Books...
Roose is colder than all the white walkers put together
Roose looks like Daniel Craig mixed with Vladimir Putin
That's actually a pretty damn accurate way of putting it. I like it.
No, Daniel Craig and Vladimir Putin are two halves of Roose. Not the other way around.
The name's Bond, James Bond
Lord bolton is a ruthless and cunning man, capable of great cruelty. The tywin lannister of the north, kinda. I think he murdered robb personally to pay tribute to his ancestors some way (since they are old enemies). What better way to remove any remaining alliance between the houses then to kill a stark king?
StOnion He is a smart psychopath.
Roose is one of the most interesting characters I think. His scenes with Ramsay are good.
StOnion Yes and no IMO; Roose's cruelty is 'just business', while Ramsay's is more for giggles.
For good reason too, since he actually was loyal to Robb up until to the point he saw that he's lost the war and following him any further would only get him killed.
and thats how putin got crimea
L. M. A. O.
Oh God HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Rafael Aguirre Poroshenko: "President Putin, any news from Kiev?"
Putin: "Haven't you heard? The Euromaidan laid siege to the presidential palace, stormed the palace with thousands of men, and president Yanukovich...how can I put this..."
Poroshenko: o_O
Putin: "Yanukovich is alive and well. He escaped by helicopter."
Poroshenko falls to his knees.
Putin: "Poroshenko isn't well. Quick, annex Crimea."
Looking at the situation in Ukraine today... how the turntables!
What?
Roose Bolton is a scary man. I hope we get to see him and Tywin together at some point. It would be intense.
"Roose has no feelings, you see... He does not love, he does not hate, he does not grieve. This is a game to him, mildly diverting. Some men hunt, some hawk, some tumble dice. Roose plays with men."
That's one of my favorite lines from the books.
OH MY GOD WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO SER JAIME
like you give a fuck mountain
Mountain i have a question for you:
A naked man has a few secrets, how many does a flayed man have?^^
MayorCris IDGAF
Gregor Clegane You certainly gave a "FUCK!" when the Knight of Flowers unhorsed you in tournament. :P
Not nearly as bad as the things as a certain Prince did to you.
Jaime is the King of Being Trolled. Let's see all the instances of him being trolled:
1)Robb trolling him on the Battle of Whispering Woods and capturing him.
2)Locke trolling him. "Oh, you want supper?" BAM!! *hand cut*
3)Roose the Moose trolling him in this scene
4)Bronn trolling him again and again during all those practises
5)Oberyn trolling him by making him think that Tyrion will be free after he put the spear in the Mountain's chest.
6)Bronn trolling him on the whole journey to Dorne
7)Cersei trolling him by fucking Lancel ,Osmund Kettleburg and the Moonboy for all he knows
8)Blackfish trolling him in the face-off at Riverrun
9)Tommen trolling him by joining the Faith and the Crown
10)Euron Dickboy trolling him practically on all the scenes where they are together
11)Olenna Tyrell trolling her way to death
12)Daenerys and her army trolling him on his way back to KL
13)Cersei again trolling him by ordering the Mountain to kill him and then rescinding back her order
and all of them pale in comparison to 'neither will you' from Ser Loras of House Tyrrel
Your mentioning of Tommen and why he made it on this list absolutely destroyed me. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Such a smart way for Roose to figure out if the rumours about Cersei and Jamie were true.
Yeah, how silly would it be to be concerned for one's sister...
*looks nervously at Lyanna Stark*
Roose characters was amazing. He loves to do stuff like this, but man. Jaime's reaction and his despair is totally underrated here. He lost his hand and was contemplating whether or not to commit suicide. He was literally done with life.
I think I'm the only one who genuinely loves the Boltons and their history.
No, you're not
I feel the same way about Roose Bolton that I do about Tywin Lannister. They are both amazing characters, portrayed by brilliant actors, and complete badasses to boot. But you can't deny they are both also massive bastards.
sprucemoose18 As much as I like Roose Bolton, I will cheer when the Dreadfort burns. With him in it.
Oh definitely, and I'll be cheering with you!
Me too Jack! The North Is Ours !
Roose trolling Jaime is the perfect way to describe this scene.
If Roose or Ramsay really knew what "take him to Qyburn" usually means they would have kept Qyburn for them to this day.
+ghoawaynetcabo i dont get it
+hugo5918 me neither
+ghoawaynetcabo If someone such as a Bolton knew of Qyburn's superhuman/necromantic level of medicinal skills and what he can create and what he can do for them and what he can do to their enemies, they would've loved him.
Ramsay would love Qyburn
Plot twist: Jaime got to his knees because he heard the name "Stannis", the one true king!
Roose's troll game was on another level. Don't forget putting Brienne in a pink dress and giving Jamie a steak too tough to cut with one hand.
pretty much not having a meal he can eat with a fork
hahhaha..I never thought about the steak..lol
After he trolled Jaime he said"Ser Jaime isnt well...." Hahahaha! What a master
He's like a slightly lesser Tywin. Such an amazing character.
I always thought of Roose as the more evil version of Tywin, which is really saying something.
Tywin is doing all his terrible things for his family and his legacy since he is so obsessed with it whilst Roose is very much doing terrible things because he is evil
In this scene Bolton looks a lot like tywin
Lord Bolton looks like Daniel Craig
wat
He reminds me of Vladimir Putin, their personality and looks just match up.
SuperTechmarine Vladmir Putin=Roose Bolton.
Both loaded with power, both bold, both look alike, both now rule the north, both are sanctioning another's land lol.
Trolling of a realm
Roose Bolton is definitely one of my favourite characters
This is actually a technique to give someone broken like Jaime courage to continue. He announces something terrible and then says it was not true. George R.R. Martin actually does that through the Theon and Bran arc. We believe Bran and Rickon are dead, so we're very sad, then when we learn they're actually alive, our joy at the moment makes us even forget the sack of Winterfell.
This guy looks like Stannis to me idk..
the Stannis for the poor
Discount Stannis.
Stannis Lite.
a shitty stannis
Ramsay Bolton Said Ramsay Bolton.
It's so obvious this man is a white walker ;)
See it at 1:02..
+maria pinto I suppose you think that was terribly clever.
+richard alpert So much of a White Walker that he got killed by a simple steel knife.
:( I know this. And it's how all theories about him are died :)
How on earth was it even theorized, white walkers have blue eyes, and wights are living dead and he isn't one of either of those two
Roose Bolton in show was like a low cost version of Tywin. 😄
The Troll in the North!
Roose the master of trolling. His son... how can I put this... has a talent to deal with cocky people.
House Bolton , trolling since Age of Heroes!!
"Lord Bolton, what did you say before you stabbed Robb Stark?
"Get rekt skrub"
The rugged rapacious Roose who wears red ruby robes rused and ravaged the ragged rude rube and this was recorded with runes
only time in the show when "take him to Qyburn wasn't a horrible death sentence".
Oh what a champ!
Thats our boy Roose, cunning, manipulative (maybe an undead but lets not get crazy yet) and cruel
Roose Bolton would have been one of my favourite characters had it not been for the Red Wedding. He is just so cool and intimidating.
I don't understand. How could they completely leave out Roose's brother, Michael? Such bs.
ohhhhhhhh you
You can just call him "Mike"
I was like "Wait, wtf are you talkin ab-ohhhhhhh!"
Clever girl
True King of the north.
One of the best scenes hands down
"My mother taught me not to throw stones into cripples. But my father taught me aim for their heads :D"
- Lord Bolton's beloved son
Still not as good a troll as 'I'd think you'd have learned your lesson about overplaying your...(looks at Jaime's missing hand) position."
amazing actor and character, i love him soooo
Go ahead!They are really great!
Sir Roose Trolton.
A conversation between Roose and tywin would have been epic
It never made sense that Jamie never seeked revenge against the Boltons for his maiming.
Many people think he was "trolling" but actually his character is a very sadistic one just as his son and it's pretty evident in this scene, he at one point was doing this to Ramsay, the conversation where him, Ramsay and his wife were having the dinner table scene.
Sadistic trolling then, jeez
That doesn’t mean he wasn’t trolling.
0:53 looks like Tywin Lannister
starkk19 they have similar personalities also
starkk19 Lol true.
+starkk19 oh my god well noticed really is like tywin. they're both such cold and intimidating assholes
Great actor
Roose bolton played by an irish actor and a damn good one!
Roose Bolton in the show is basically Tywin from the north
Roose Bolton kinda reminds me of Vladimir Putin.
I don't know if it's his face, his cold stare or the sadistic ways. Maybe all of them.
+MegaKossak Hail Vladimir Bolton! Or Roose Putin.... Or Vladiroose Puton
