      He would absolutely mind a craven. And not looking the part would have been very against Tywin's belief anyways. (Although I imagine Tywin would have put Tarly on a helluva diet.)
      Oh and Tyrion's mistreatment disproves your entire hypothesis that Tywin would focus on the smart aspect over the physical traits.

      this quote from the book might help you figure it out:
      "Roose has no feelings, you see. Those leeches that he loves so well sucked all the passions out of him years ago. He does not love, he does not hate, he does not grieve. This is a game to him, mildly diverting. Some men hunt, some hawk, some tumble dice. Roose plays with men. You and me, these Freys, Lord Manderly, his plump new wife, even his bastard, we are but his playthings."

      ***** this roose bolton guys acting doesnt impress me at all. Im just so used to what roose bolton is supposed to act like that everything this guy does is completely out of character and hard for me to accept.
      Roose wouldnt even troll jaime like this. He knows much better than to fool around with a lannister. A lannister remembers, a lannister pays his debts. Roose did all he could to make sure jaime was comfortable and to make sure he wasnt blamed for jaime being maimed. If anything he was licking jaimes nuts the whole time he was in harrenhall.

He wanted to show no mercy to the people who showed no mercy to the Starks. But instead was cast aside and ignored. He did the right thing by killing Robb in order to SAVE lives and prevent more Northern losses in a war they couldn't win. He did what he did to SAVE lives. He wanted to unite the 7 kingdoms and help the people of Westeros. The REAL Roose Bolton would have seen through Ramsay and killed him before he had a chance to strike, then we fans would get treated to the 1v1 fight we DESERVE in 6x09 between Roose and Jon.

    • @listrahtes
      @listrahtes Рік тому +5

      Especially as he is more than just a villain. Its one of Martins "tricks" to introduce a bad boy and then make him sympathetic. With Roose he went annother way but he was a very layered "villain". I looked at it that he was a very rough person growing up in unforgiving circumstances. Loyal and helpful to Rob Stark but when Stark made mistake after mistake and kinda fucked everything up he correctly predicted there no chance of winnning anything anymore and changed sides. It makes him not really a villain but a realist. He mirrored Robs failure being mamas boy to the worst political advisor ever in Catelyn Stark. And Roose practical amoral approach would later be his own downfall. A pure villain is also a lot more boring. Thats why at least I myself found Ramsay just not that interesting.

The first night was a tradition where lords or kings were allowed to bang a newly-wed wife before her husband could. It was abolished everywhere except by the Boltons, who still practice it. Ramsay is the product of this, Roose once raped a woman and killed her husband after they got married without his approval. The woman then showed up at the dreadfort later on with Ramsay.

      I don't think Roose was ever loyal to Robb, he was loyal to himself only. In the books it's indicated that he intended to betray Robb even before he messed up the marriage agreement. He'd stab anyone in the back if it could make his position a bit better. He's also a r@pist and he enables all of Ramsay's atrocities, so he's pretty clearly a villain. @@listrahtes

    • @listrahtes

      @@anatoldenevers237 let's leave out the books. In the show he only changes sides after Robb has made some incredible dumb decisions that eliminated his chances to win. At that point it's just game of thrones and not a villain. Other than the Starks everyone does it. Even the stark kids lie and backstab littlefinger. Sure he is a rapist like again most in got. Bronn talks about it and uses forced prostitutes as does Tyrion, imo the Bolton's were so cruel because they had to fight the most violent enemies for a long time like Wildlings and the sea kingdom. This is actually a technique to give someone broken like Jaime courage to continue. He announces something terrible and then says it was not true. George R.R. Martin actually does that through the Theon and Bran arc. We believe Bran and Rickon are dead, so we're very sad, then when we learn they're actually alive, our joy at the moment makes us even forget the sack of Winterfell.

    Many people think he was "trolling" but actually his character is a very sadistic one just as his son and it's pretty evident in this scene, he at one point was doing this to Ramsay, the conversation where him, Ramsay and his wife were having the dinner table scene.

      Ramsay Bolton murders Roose Bolton (his *father*) and becomes the new heir to House Bolton.

    • @realitywarper936
      @realitywarper936 8 років тому

      +cinevadinsighet They do have a lot of similarities, true. But in my opinion, the key difference is this: while Tywin is defined by his pragmatism and total devotion to House Lannister's legacy, Roose is a true sadist at heart. Essentially, he's like Tywin if he took pleasure in cruelty.
