Love it when Reactor start off the XG Documentary with EP XX. Simon Jakops is 38. He was in KPOP group DMTN (Dalmation) he joined them in 2012. He is Japanese Korean and fluent in both Japanese and Korean but was born in Seattle USA. Now he is the CEO of XGALX and XG's Producer and Manager, he even did much of their training so you could say he is their Trainer as well.
Thanks for reacting to this! I'm down to watch the rest of the series with you! And yes, South Korea is known for being huge in the music industry, so being able to make it there is a big deal. Especially now that KPOP is such a mainstream thing. Also yess, Simon was in a KPOP group called DMTN in the early 2000s-2010s, I believe.
It’s crucial to acknowledge that AVEX is leading the charge to promote XG, the Japanese girl group, on the global stage. The XG project receives comprehensive support from AVEX, including connections, financial backing, and overall management. Simon has been appointed as CEO to oversee XGALX. Keep in mind that BLACKPINK’s success stems from the collaboration between AVEX and YG, not YG alone. AVEX boasts decades of experience in the music industry.
Here is the part of the Billboard Japan Interview with AVEX CEO Katsumi Kuroiw: XG is based in Korea, but all its members are Japanese. How does this distinguish them from K-pop? Katsumi Kuroiwa AVEX CEO: We have great respect for K-pop, but XG stands out because of its originality and freshness. We created the group with our global partners, blending the best elements from Korea, Japan, and the US. The synergy of the members' potential, the music production, the visuals, and the fashion led to the birth of XG. Our goal was not to fit them into J-pop or K-pop categories, but to establish a new genre: X-Pop. The group had diverse opinions on the language for their lyrics. While some members felt that singing in Japanese was more authentic, we ultimately decided that English would be the best choice for reaching a global audience, including the Korean market. Since none of the members are native English speakers, we prioritized perfecting their pronunciation from the beginning of their development.
XGALX, a subsidiary of AVEX known for supporting both JPop and KPop groups, trained its girls for five years in Japan before moving them to Korea for promotions. AVEX, renowned for backing various music acts, shares a common passion with Simon. The XG project operates under AVEX/XGALX, and AVEX arranged their first US showcase appearance. Connections to Japan VOGUE, FORBES, and ELLE magazines are all facilitated by AVEX.
AVEX CEO Katsumi Kuriowa and Simon are united in their passion for promoting a Japanese group on a global scale. According to Billboard Japan, both Kuriowa and Simon are committed to ensuring that this global group consists entirely of Japanese members.
XG = Xtraordinary Girls (group name) XGALX = label name (formerly X-GALAXY) XGALX is a subsidiary label under AVEX. AVEX is a major Japanese label for Japanese Pop (J-Pop) artists. They also have training academies for artists (singers, dancers, rappers, musicians, etc). Some of the XG members attended an AVEX Academy.
Correct! Remember, JPop has a rich history in music production spanning many years. AVEX, the parent company of XGALX, makes all financial and strategic decisions for the group. Additionally, XG first appearance in US showcase is thank for AVEX USA. Moreover, the new boy group 'One or Eight' is a JPop group currently building its fandom.
XGALX is a subsidiary label of AVEX, a major Japanese company known for its roster of J-Pop (Japanese Pop) artists. It is on the Wikipedia and online too.
It's important to recognize that AVEX is driving the push for the Japanese girl group to represent Japan on the global stage. The XG project is fully supported by AVEX, which handles the connections, financial backing, and overall support. Simon has been appointed as CEO to manage XGALX. Remember, the success of BLACKPINK is the result of collaboration between AVEX and YG, not YG alone. AVEX brings decades of experience in the music industry, a legacy that extends well beyond YG’s tenure.
I'm watching with you because you are very insightful and will have great commentary. I will say, it gets very tough and emotional to watch. When Simon said it is raw he was not kidding. Nothing is sugar coated in this series.
your XG reacts are great so I am here for the rest of XTRA XTRA, It’s really cool seeing new fans take an interest in them and their amazing journey, the outfits at the end are from their debut song Tippy Toes, you should react to that and the fixed camera dance practice, it is 🍿🍿🍿
would be cool to see you watch more episodes it gets very intense and emotional, the amount of work these girls put in and the hardship they faced is so admirable, really makes you respect them so much more
I’ve just finished watching the docuseries, and I learned so much about the years of hard work these girls put in, they deserve everything coming their way. Would love to re-experience the series with your reactions too!! Simon puts the to work literally from day one and he does not sugar coat anything, which is also why he’s developed such a great connection with the girls. You’re about to witness how he took the ladies of XG from the potential filled kids that they were to the amazing artists they are now. Can’t wait for your reactions to this!
Thank you for diving deep into the XG contents!! The planet like scene you mentioned was the Team lab planets, the popular place to visit in Tokyo. It’s a very cool place:)
The episodes get long. But if you're in, I'll ride with you. Seeing what these girls put into this at such a young age. To be as tough as they are. You'll have a deeper respect for them. And Simon. Nice reaction ✌🏾
XG is organic dey really started from the bottoms, unlike the big 4 kpop company dey already have a fanbase for dey artists n group and what not that y xg can talk dey shit and back up
When he talks about idol culture, and promoting in Korea, that is where you see all those kpop groups created and performing their music, that is that place. XG has live performances on Korean music programs. Just search Woke Up live performance and you’ll see a number of different Korean music programs they’ve performed on. Anytime a kpop artist has a new single to promote, it’s a music video, choreography video, and several live performances on music programs.
Sorry mom can’t talk, Kiing is reacting to XTRAXTRA
