Mike sees the future ("every time we played we'd have to play that long"), Big Cypress led to the band breaking up both times I think, and even to this day people complain about how they don't play long enough or not liking the new compositions etc., despite the band being probably more tight with less bum notes than they've ever played before (yes I'm talking about 3.0 lol) Or he was just really thirsty
From Guinness: The record for the longest concert by a group is 50 hours and was achieved by Comaganin Raaga Priya Light Music Orchestra for the Visually Impaired in Chennai, India, from 27 to 29 April 2007. Well, they have their work cut out for them XD
Page came in looking spun out! I love the Phish we have now but seeing this gets me nostalgic. I am glad they are straight now but if not for the drugs, we would be without a lot of great songs.
I would love to be at this gig. Just to see and hear them go through all their current songs before they start breaking out everything else like Prep School Hippie, Dear Mrs. Reagan, Rotation Jam, In A Hole, etc. It would be something to be a part of that.
if they played long enough...... a set within a set within a set within a set within a set within a set within a set within a set within a set within a set within a set within a set.... INCEPTION.
I was at Big Cypress..... I could care less about any record. These guys EARNED their money that weekend ! ! ! They played .... Friday Dec 30th 4 pm - 6 pm 8 pm - 10 pm and Sat morning Dec 31st 12 am - 2 am Then Saturday evening 8 pm - 10 pm All BEFORE playing Jan 1st 12 am - 7 am They play 15 hours in front of 80,000 over a 40 hour time span. Let me tell you.... security was WEAK. It was 80,000 that paid to see Phish... thousands more snuck in..... nobody was checking for tickets. The hot air balloon had a long line... But they had problems. So they shut it down. Just before midnight.... they opened it back up. My girlfriend and I walked up and got on. With zero wait...We paid 20 bucks for 10 minutes. I tipped him 20 more and he let us stay up another 10. This was 15 minutes before midnight..... It was easily 100,000 people. Nobody LEFT before it was over. I watched from the very very very back. I was the last person to leave. It took 45 minutes for the concert area to clear. We slept all day New Year's Day and left at 1 am Jan 2nd. It was still an hour of stop and go traffic 18 hours after the show had ended before my speedometer hit 30 mph.... Best NYE of my life.....
"I could care less about any record." So you're saying you do care enough to care less. How much do you care that you could care less? Or were you trying to suggest that you "couldn't" care less. This would mean that you don't care enough to care less.
@MrLT-vf3wr Perfect..... I write a nice rendition of the event and my experience. Then the "typo patroll", emphasis on TROLL, enters the scene. Shooo fly.
They totally could get the Guinness World Record for the most records being broken at the same time. It would take some organization in the doing but a Phish concert would totally be the place for it.
John Paluska, he was their original manager for many many many years up until Coventry, as to why Phish is under new management is unknown to me, kinda sad because the Phish team was always so tight knit, like a family, now they got a new sound guy & new road manager as well, things change i guess...
Trey explains about one of the breakups, that he had a cookout with , say, 40-80 people, and everyone was both their friend AND their employee… and the situation was no longer tenable.
Additionally, I just went and checked out your videos of your band jamming, and I don't think anyone would give a fuck to watch you jam 'house of the rising sun' for 16 hours.
For the sake of clarity, Phish never claimed after Big Cypress (the seven hour set) that they had played 'the longest gig' in history. Thus, how exactly is (or was) Phish delusional?
actually, they did mention that it would be the longest gig ever, which it never was. the record was 24 hours in 1999 played by Screamin' Freeman in Arizona at an event sponsored by Hardee's.
I like Phish. I don't like the drug scene surrounding Phish. I think Phish needs to straighten out the ship that it's commandeering and get the message to the listeners that you don't have to wake up with your face glued to the carpet to get the vibe. It wouldn't really matter if they took a stand or not since the mainstream media doesn't know Phish from Fish.
If you don't like the drug scene around Phish, instead of a single youtube comment, consider getting involved in the politics behind the legalization of drugs, or lack there of.
thanks for the smart ass comment our record was legit but was outdone later the same year and we were never featured in the guinness book- at the time,we played a couple of major blues fests, BB King's, and a fourth of July gig as the opener for Sara Evans almost 10 years ago - our bassist wrote a tune that was recorded by a somewhat major indie act in 1999 and actually made the indie charts. Phish never played the longest show, and never had the record for doing so.
PS - the current record for longest gig is up to 50 hours and happened in Africa or something. Once again, even in 1999, Phish NEVER held the record. It was already up to 24 hours when they did their 7 hour gig. I don't see why so many people keep sending me bullshit messages. ITS A FACT. The first record was set in 1999 by a group in Arizona at an event sponsored by Hardee's. PHISH NEVER SET THE RECORD. The end.
Actually my group had the real world record a long time ago for playing 16 hours at a the World Outreach in middle Tennessee. More than twice as long as Phish. The current record is now over 40 hours. Even when Phish played over 7 hours, the record was already 24 hours. Phish is delusional. They lose.
I have NEVER seen a human drink a beer faster than Mike Gordon.
Like a baby sipping wine..lol
Mike sees the future ("every time we played we'd have to play that long"), Big Cypress led to the band breaking up both times I think, and even to this day people complain about how they don't play long enough or not liking the new compositions etc., despite the band being probably more tight with less bum notes than they've ever played before (yes I'm talking about 3.0 lol)
Or he was just really thirsty
The most Disconcerting manner I’ve seen anyone drink anything
this is why i love this band so fucking much. they get along and are genuinely friends
fish: "i know i can stay up for three days" *yawns*
I love how happy all the guys seem.
From Guinness: The record for the longest concert by a group is 50 hours and was achieved by Comaganin Raaga Priya Light Music Orchestra for the Visually Impaired in Chennai, India, from 27 to 29 April 2007.
Well, they have their work cut out for them XD
Mar-mar!!
We miss you Marley.
Fishman's laugh is just one of the best.

CHEESE CAKE!!!
Haha Mike is just crushing that brewski
I like the way Gordon drinks beer starting at 1:14.
I would love to be at this gig. Just to see and hear them go through all their current songs before they start breaking out everything else like Prep School Hippie, Dear Mrs. Reagan, Rotation Jam, In A Hole, etc. It would be something to be a part of that.
phish could never out live their fans
That's fantastic... and totally classic. He almost comes across as the Nigel Tufnel of Phish in this video...
Mike ~ "I figured there'd be some tribal people" hahaha!
I think Wildberry Jam meant he "played WITH himself" four times longer than Phish's longest gig & briefly held the world record for doing so...;)
wow wtf was that noise that guy in the blue shirt made at 2:40 ????? fish gives out a mad ackward laugh after hahahah
they got a gig at red rocks and fenway, so i guess the new management is pretty decent

Shooo fly.
the most siamese twin separations had me dying
@nstefani22 That is not CK5. That would be former manager John Paluska.
That is not Chris Kuroda. Not sure who that is. May be John Paluska.
Fishman is my favorite just for how awkward he is in front of a camera.
They totally could get the Guinness World Record for the most records being broken at the same time. It would take some organization in the doing but a Phish concert would totally be the place for it.
The most Siamese twins separated in one location
How could you not like this?
Awww, Marley
phreakkin awesome man!! i'm there!
Why is Urban Meyer hanging out with Phish?
Mike's giving that beer hell.
mike's really sluggin away at that beer
This is so fun!
I've heard of people staying up for weeks at a stretch...... I don't know how it's possible.
Asian spiced ginger bread
"i know we can do 36 hours"
It's interesting how they joke about this idea and 3 years later they basically got to try it out at Big Cypress to some extent.
Some good Page Mar Mar action going on about 3:00 in.
Except, his username isn't Coventry...it's CoventrEy...
god these guys are read icculus
Trey @ 5;53 basically says i need to know so i can take acid / do coke beforehand, and a lot of it

Mike really loves that beer!

Hahaha! Ive never noticed that. Thats mad funny!
John Paluska, he was their original manager for many many many years up until Coventry, as to why Phish is under new management is unknown to me, kinda sad because the Phish team was always so tight knit, like a family, now they got a new sound guy & new road manager as well, things change i guess...

Gordo's sucking down that beer like his life depends on it. Is that a lighter in his other hand? Always wanted to share a bowl with you guys.

michael cera = mike gordon
I played The endless set on Rockband 2 and completed it, on medium So, No big deal.
Haha, great video.
HOw many layers are there? Yes I am in!
Sounds like a great idea...but I have a sneaking suspiscion Trey and the boys would have to fall off the wagon to pull off a stunt like that!
Jesus, Mike there's probably more beer
+Matt N I love him to death, but god damn he's weird sometimes. hahaha
I love him to death as well, but Im with you, he is certainly one strange cat.
I believe it's ginger beer.....and he prob has polydipsia goin on!
YEAH, I can't believe Phish played the LONGEST GIG OF ALL TIME!!! 7 hours is insane brah!!!! The record will never be broken!

Fish is tripping hard
Additionally, I just went and checked out your videos of your band jamming, and I don't think anyone would give a fuck to watch you jam 'house of the rising sun' for 16 hours.
The Asian Spiced Gingerbread is the beer they are drinking.
Mar Mar!!!
whose that dude?
i wonder if he's talking about the beer...
fish is about to say something awesome at @4:58 but gets cut off...
I always feel bad for Page. It was Trey, Jon and Mike as BFF's. Then there was Page. Sitting on the floor alone.
It's okay, our world is just a dream in the mind of Page
PHISH NEVER HELD THE GUINNESS RECORD. They played for 7 hours when the record had already been set at 24 hours
For the sake of clarity, Phish never claimed after Big Cypress (the seven hour set) that they had played 'the longest gig' in history. Thus, how exactly is (or was) Phish delusional?
@muleskinmcnugent That's what I was thinking too! :)

trusselt R.I.P Harris Wittels
Someones mad about their band only getting 1 view on each of their videos, hahahahahahahaah
what year is this from?
Mark Clemmens prior to 2000
Phish fan since 94. Played in a jam band myself and once played four times longer than phishs longest gig. Briefly held the world record for doing s
im not gonna be there
Still seems to be a lot of confusion. Since when is 7 hours longer than 24 ? Current record is 50 hours. Maybe I'll give it a try next summer
Asian Spiced Gingerbread???? (mike says it at 4:30)
I never thought I'd hear a Bob Beamon reference in a Phish interview LOL
thanks for the smart ass comment our record was legit but was outdone later the same year and we were never featured in the guinness book- at the time,we played a couple of major blues fests, BB King's, and a fourth of July gig as the opener for Sara Evans almost 10 years ago - our bassist wrote a tune that was recorded by a somewhat major indie act in 1999 and actually made the indie charts. Are you ever going to STFU ??
It's not lame insight. 24 minus 7 is 17. Phish never held the record. Both statements are equally true.
