There is one app you absolutely must download when you’re in Vietnam - the Grab App. Not only is it an awesome ride app (it’s like Uber for Vietnam), it is also an amazing food delivery app. Grab was literally my mode of transport during my time there and more than once have been my go-to if i needed food quick.
I rarely use food delivery apps in Sydney because they aren’t the cheapest, but i was genuinely impressed with the Grab delivery app - they had a large selection, delivery time was fast, the food was good and man, you wouldn’t believe how much it costed.
I ordered food through the Grab App for the entire day to see how much it’d cost to do it for the day. And what the average delivery time was.

Oh yeah! We also started using it in Vietnam, also used it in THailand (Bangkok), and not so much in Singapore and soooo much in Malaysia! Specially in KL! Great!
Andnow that we are back in Korea for a few weeks we see soooo many companies. Actually they were already so many 2 years ago before we left, but now they are massive! Korea has always been huge at deliveries!

oh my goodness Janice this video is so unbelievably useful for someone like myself, who will be visiting Vietnam for 20 days next month. I have installed the GRAB app on my phone, good to go. Where I was hoping to use it is transportation between the different attactions of a city. For example in Hue Vietnam.

YES! grab is so awesome in Vietnam. We used it a lot too transport and bubble tea orders galore hahahahaha. Some days we were just full day editing like you too and that's when it came in super handy. Sounds like you have a similar routine to us Janice :)

Hi Janice , tips : google for discount code before u place any order ( food , delivery , etc ) so u can get even cheaper price . Also check your grab inbox as they send out promo code daily . Staying indoors is a good system. Editing takes so much time. They should sponsor you! That's a nice looking soup for breakfast. Do you tip the drivers? Lunch and dinner look even better! The portions are so big. Those prices are ridiculous! That's awesome!

There is also i think the most famous food delivery app in Vietnam is NOW, you should check it out! And Beamin too, i rarely use grabfood because there are many places i like arent on it. NOW is the most popular here in Vietnam.

Lol I totally agree. Grab was the best thing ever while I was in Vietnam too... and the food was actually really good... I think we used it about 20 times or so the 10 days we were there, and 19/20 places we ordered from was spot on. The main issue I had was the food delivery was too fast as I was either in the shower or in the middle of a quicky with my wife.

LOL! It is not exactly in the old USA where food delivery costs are very expensive (more than a typical one hour of wages) and very inefficient (late delivery, wrong address, no correct change, wrong food order, etc).
@@mvn591014 it’s pretty good here in Australia.. but I’d usually only order when there is free delivery promo or I have good discount vouchers. Paying full price is not worth it… but at least it takes longer here in Aus so I have plenty of time for sex with my Wife.

Best part of the app is that the driver can type in Vietnamese, or other south East Asian languages in the chat function, it translates to English for you. And vice versa.

Due to the lower cost of living and the ample labour supply, food delivery in Vietnam is really cheap, efficient and very much bigger portions. Delivery is also fast and convenient. If you try Grab food in Singapore, it will be expensive and delivery time is never 20 mins but at least 40 mins to one hour or more.

Where I live, California.... I ordered pizza from like across the street of my home and it arrived about 1 hour later than the time I ordered...
We used to have Uber in Malaysia, but no longer exist as it was acquired by Grab. So we depend on Grab these days too! :D Omg so convenient! I should have done that and have a Vietnamese feast when I was in there! (Could have eaten even more food with this strategy haha!!)

Ah pretty much the same in Indonesia, ordering soup for takeaway, they’ll give you in a plastic bag. We normally use heat resistant plastic bag for food (can’t find it in Australia, always bring some here from Indonesia lol), so I am sure it won’t be melted if they use the proper one 👍🏻

Hey JF...Good Morning from Las Vegas where it is going to be another stinking hot day....104F or 40C. Its Friday the 13th and I am hiding from Jason 🔪🔪🔪🔪🔪 or at least my students. Discussing the Warring States Period and Philosophies of China this week. This was an excellent vlog. When I am in Thailand I use GRAB extensively. I however have never used the food delivery function of GRAB. Gonna change that since I am going to be there for a whole month in June and have an AIrBnB booked. Mango Sticky Rice and Kao Mok Gai delivered 24/7 WooHoo. Here in the states we have he usual, UberEats, etc....I have a tendency to use the BeyondMenu App for food delivery because they have my favorite Thai Restaurant on it. Still love the CF hoodie. I gotta find a way to tell your friend that you absconded with some of her lunch LOL...Thanks again.....Keep plugging along......Damn you go girl! you are 3.4 subs and climbing.......and I am an OG...LOL

Food for 2 people in Australia (Perth) through Uber eats would cost $80 to $100 for breakfast, lunch and dinner compared to $17 in Vietnam 🇻🇳. How much is the cost of food in Sydney compared to Perth?

Good stuff. I lived in VN for 10 yrs and although VN doesn't have a tipping culture like here in the US, I ended up tipping when I was there anyway. People are always surprised and appreciative. I'm back in the US now and I get so angry at the tipping culture here. It's mandatory and they actually chase after you if you don't tip enough. That's right, not because you don't tip them, it's because you don't tip them enough eventhough the service is crap and the food is the shits. Throw in the freshly cooked great tasting food and it was so cheap, I think back to all those genuine smiles and tips on how to enjoy the food or tips on what to do when I was in VN and I really think the world of many of those VN people in the restaurant business there. Sorry for the rant but I had to get it out now that I had seen your video.

how much is it to order food usually?
Delivery fee is usually $3 SGD. Food from Mac is usually $8-$12 depend on what you want to eat. If you want food from normal restaurants like chinese food for example, it can cost about $5 at least. So total also around $7-$8 including delivery fees
