    There is something beautiful about Xie Lian’s outlook and in his selflessness towards others even though it’s always misconstrued or misinterpreted, all the more reason Hua Cheng acts as his best counterpart 🥹our selfless kings 😭 The art is beautiful as always ✨

    Hua cheng is the supportive husband that was made for Xie Lian like how he handled Xie lian's anger with such respectful and soft manner making sure that he wasnt doubting himself was like one of the best thing.

    I love how their different attitudes are so complementary. Xie Lian wants to take responsibility for everything, even where it’s not his fault, but the first thing he did ‘wrong’ (ie saving the little boy) has given rise to the one person who will never blame him for anything. Hua Cheng doesn’t care about anyone else’s point of view. Anyone who has let down Xie Lian in any way is on his sh** list pretty much permanently. I don’t know if Hua Cheng ever forgives - I think he’s really disappointed he didn’t get the chance to kill, or at least de-deify, Mu Qing and Feng Xin)

    This chapter is absolutely heartbreaking and seeing the visual representations, from HC kneeling to be on the same level as XL to XL's guilt for a spiralling of events out of his control, was heartbreaking but wonderful.

    Poor Xie Lian. There's a pretty common response to repeated trauma where a victim starts trying to make what happened their own fault in order to re-establish a sense of control over their own lives. Xie Lian is so comfortable with people lashing out at him, and it always struck me that he lowkey wanted them to do it. Not just that he chose not to STOP them, but there's something about it he found outright comforting. I could see that being because it validated that he was right and everything was his fault.
    So I really like this scene because I feel like at this stage in his recovery, Xie Lian is only slightly ready to hear someone defend him. And I'm pretty sure that Hua Cheng is the only person he'd be willing to hear it from. It's the kind of conversation that could have gone very badly if Hualian hadn't already built so much trust and respect in this relationship.

    The moment Xie Lian said "I'm a failure" I litteraly choked on my food as I was tearing up T^T
    Poor precious baby he deserves the world and I'm sure Hua cheng would be READY to give it to him :'(

    I would like to imagine Lang Qiangqiu didn't actually leave, he made it seem like he did. But in my thoughts he was hiding behind some of the thicker foliage and listening to the conversation Hua Cheng and Xie Lian were having. Hua Cheng handled Xie Lian's emotions very well, when someone has a breakdown like that, the best thing you can do for them is just listen and be there for them. That's what Hua Cheng did. Xie Lian needs hugs, steamed buns, Hua Cheng, fuzzy soft blankets and cuddles.

    I love hualian just having conversations. There are some really nice ones later in the series and I hope they get illustrated because they have some really powerful quotes embedded in them (ex: “what matters is you and not the state of you”, “it doesn’t matter whether the road is easy but whether I walk it is entirely up to me”, “you cannot die but you can still get hurt”, etc etc)

    This arc makes my stomach hurt, always. No one involved deserved what happened to them, and it’s truly heartbreaking. Qianqiu didn’t deserve to lose his family. His family didn’t deserve to die. Xie Lian didn’t deserve to carry all that blame for so long. Hell, I’d say even An Le didn’t deserve being manipulated by Qi Rong for possibly his entire life (iirc Qi Rong says he was “the easiest (of their bloodline) to manipulate” earlier on). The world is unfair, but rather than become unfair with it, Xie Lian is doing his best to stay fair and kind with the world. He’d rather carry the blame so that Qianqiu would have an easy, uncomplicated answer for who to pin the blame on. So that he wouldn’t lose his faith that kindness can be answered with kindness by learning the messy, complicated truth of the unjust fate his parents suffered. That boy is having a crisis of faith that Xie Lian was trying to spare him.

    Omg the soft music on the background fits so perfectly with your reading of Xie Lian's replies, the angry voice especially, but also the pained and sad one. Such a dramatic effect! Also with the reading of the sound effects. As always, you are incredible. It is much more entertaining watching this than reading the manhua on my own. Thank you for your efforts! ❤

    I put in my pre-order for the final book right about when Amazon first let me pre-order... like in July or something. I'm reading the other books in prep for finally getting it. But also I'm struggling with the first big flashback. I need to get to the fun parts I've heard about... but also I know the back story is important. (I was extremely hooked on the kidnapping/butterfly scene in book "2" of the English translation. It's my favorite scene so far... and I want more... but the flashback with Qi Rong is just a slog for me. Cute to meet the child Xie Lian saved, but also not satisfying me.((yes, I know the kid becomes Hua Cheng later but still) )

    • @dajtoad1
      @dajtoad1 11 місяців тому +1

      I think the flashback style can sometimes be the book’s weakest point. In one way, it’s nice to see the puzzle pieces slowly draw together and the emotional web tighten. But in other respects, you don’t always want to dive into the past when you already know the general outcome. But as I went on, I found it all became worth it. Especially as you see the love story expand over the centuries.

      On first read through arc 2 is definitely a tough one to get through, because it's so long and so many details seem unnecessary without info you get later on. But it's important to the rest of the story, it's like an info dump that is necessary to understand our MC. Though I can't deny reading it a second time had me screaming because MXTX masterfully hid so many things in there.

    SPOILERS!!!!
    I love this because it shows how much Hua Cheng has grown. you learn about their backstory as Wu Ming and the White Clothed Calamity, this shows how much Wu Ming deferred to his God, no matter how much HC knew that XL's actions were born out of pain and hate. Than the Final Test and Lang-er Bay happened. HC took the punishment for XL but he also learned an important lesson: that even your most loving God is wrong. Sometimes you have to step in, especially if it causes more pain. Should HC have told XL what he was doing? Absolutely, in my opinion. XL endured that Coffin for the sake for peace. He probably now feels that his sacrifices were in vain. But he needed to understand that LQQ was no longer a child and deserved the truth and that he himself did not deserve that pain.
    1:45 XL knows the danger of venegence, especialy when the target encomapsses the innocent. One day I want to make a watch the series fic, where LQQ turns to XL and asks "What the f*** was book 4?!?!". To which XL would reply, "because I was also young, and so stupid.
    And so very very angry."
    1:52 And XL APOLOGIZING for being angry and losing his temper? Is he have flashbacks and regretting that he never apologized to Wu Ming?
    5:08 It's also nice because as Wu Ming XL was his God that Did No Wrong. Now, he sees that's something XL doesn't want or need. So, he meets him as an equal, even if he still regards himself as less.
    5:58 A reminder that XIe Lian is so badass that he can focus his bare amount of Spiritual Energy to crush this boulder-sized statue with one palm.
    6:40 Well, no, I wouldn't say that. XL does know that the world is unfair. In fact, I'd say he knows that very well. But, he also knows that the reason is because no one reaches out and pulls up the young man lying in the road with a stab wound. It's up to those who decide to come back, give them a couple of thumps and a bamboo hat, and send them along. XL is not naive enough to believe that the world will turn fair if only he keeps trying, but he is kind and good enough to be one of the people that do try.

    I study a bit of story structure and I think this is the lie that Xie Lian believes in. He thinks his useless and deserves to be punished.
    I'm with Hua Cheng on this. Xie Lian did the best he could. So it's really telling how much he believes in this lie even with Hue Cheng sayings so otherwise.

    I gotta be honest this side plot is some of the weakest backstories. Like yeah its tragic but feels so forced and Xie Lian’s choices feel so weird. It wasn’t set up well because we are experiencing the backstory second hand. But it got some fun moments, like introduced qi rong and hua cheng’s dynamic. And it does show xie lian’s flawed logic. I feel like no one got a proper resolution after knowing the truth.

      i agree, when i read the novel i couldnt understand xie lian at first, but then it clicked, he just wants the blame on him instead on xianle, its like his last way to try and protect and redeem his former country, but everything kinda happened really quick, and new characters were introduced so quickly so it was easy to get confused on what was happening lol

      The book goes more into detail about the whole gilded banquet and what happened, the donghua just merely touched on the topic. one thing I wish they had clarified is why and how xie lian kills LQ's father, because the donghua made it feel like xie lian killed him without all the reasoning behind it

    • @Dianxiashualian
      @Dianxiashualian 11 місяців тому +11

      I think it made sense
      - His people were the killers but he didn’t want Xianle to get the blame and then get taken out.
      He killed the king because he was gonna say to execute all of Xianles people, and he killed the other person because he was the one who started the outbreak and didn’t plan to stop. There was no turning back. If they had clashed it would’ve meant the end for many people, so he took it in himself to bare.
      But Hua Cheng doesn’t like him taking the blame or putting himself in danger so it makes sense for him to want this exposed. He cares about Xie lians life at times more than Xie lian himself
      But the novel makes that clear not sure about the manhwa

      @@DianxiashualianAnd to add to this, all this happened in Yong An, the immediate kingdom after Xianle. It is still one of the early experiences Xie Lian went through during his wandering. The Xian Le destruction and White Clothed Calamity trauma might still feel so fresh, hence the desperation to quickly act within his idealistic worldview. He only didn't want anymore bloodshed.
