I have watched your video several times now. You’re very detailed thank you for that. I’ve purchased everything. It is end of June now and I’m in Cypress Texas zone 9a, it’s very hot and humid. Will this method still work outside or should they be done indoors? If indoors, temperature of house is 72/73 degrees Fahrenheit, do I still need to use a heating pad underneath or as is? I’ve tried placing them on east side facing window, no direct sunlight indoors, open lids once a day for about 30 seconds or so, but my canes always mold and turn black in the end.
You need high light with no direct sunlight. I did it outdoor at my patio during summer and they are rooted just fine. It is hot and humid at the Mobile Alabama as well. I was wondering if your soil is too wet...
@@backyardparadise2334 I was using the root riot plugs with the cloned gel. I did mist them once with super thrive spray and once with plain water. That may have been the mistake I made. I can't believe you take such short cuttings! usually when i take cuttings they start good and root but eventually they rot out. Next time im going to try a sterile growing medium like paper towels.
Ya. I usually take long cuttings like the one I show in the video. I used those short cuttings just for experiment on some of my roses that is in bloom now. Never hear of paper towels growing medium. Sounds interesting. I wonder if it will retain too much moisture.
By the way, I do have great success with some of the short cuttings. Some roses just doesn't has long cuttings to grow with like miniature rose or micro rose. It is not about the length of the canes but more the quality of the canes.
