Powder Coating Alloy Wheels - WHAT NOT TO DO!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 бер 2020
- In this video we show case a set of brand new Porsche factory wheels getting a custom red line around the lip. They came in brand new so we decided not to strip them down to the bare metal. Once we put them in the oven for clear coat, the clear coat started bubbling. It was a chemical reaction either from the grease that was not properly washed off or the factory finish did not hold well to our ovens heat.
We ended up stripping the entire wheel down and started the powder coating process over. Watch until the end to see how beautiful they turned out

Didn't see you powder coat Black over after stripping rim
What kind of soap and what kind of water please and thank you
Could they have had a ceramic coating on?
Do uh sell powder also..??
Loooks good. Do you use solvent based red or something special?
Thank you. We use water base PPG paint
@@RTPCustoms Waw, waterbased? After the paint you applied clear powdercoat. Is it not melting when you bake the clear? On what temperture you bake the clear? I will use this twotone on my BBS RS rims but i am afraid the color react on the high temperture to bake the clear. In Belgium nobody use this system.
How much that job was . Really nice
Our prices start at 200 per wheel
Damn, i woulda killed to shut that damn compressor off!
All of that could have been done with powder coat, instead of masking off and painting the red, it would have left the barrels black instead of being covered in overspray, also they shouldn’t be coating the wheels hot enough to melt the clear, it’s now way too thick.
Doesn't clear go one with a tint so you can see coverage.
@@MrChrisBozwell not when you shoot it hot like these guys not a good practice but possible
