- How To Fix High Memory/RAM Usage In Windows 11 [Tutorial]
Lots of Windows 11 users report on Reddit and Microsoft forums that some processes (e.g.: ntoskrnl.exe) in Windows 11 are slowing down the OS by consuming tons of RAM and CPU power. Here are some ways to fix high RAM and CPU usage in Windows 11.
Issues addressed in this tutorial:
high ram usage while gaming
high ram usage windows 11
high ram and disk usage windows 11
high ram and processor laptop
high ram pc build
best high ram laptops
high ram computer
high ram CPU
high ram desktop
windows 11 high ram usage fix
high ram gaming pc
high ram in laptop
high ram latency
When the Task manager is opened in Windows, you may notice unexplained high memory usage. The memory spikes can slow down the application’s response time and cause frozen screens. Whether you are playing a memory-intensive game or keeping many browser windows open, you need to reduce these memory leaks as much as possible.
This tutorial will apply for computers, laptops, desktops, and tablets running the Windows 11 operating system (Home, Professional, Enterprise, Education) from all supported hardware manufactures, like Dell, HP, Acer, Asus, Toshiba, Lenovo, Huawei and Samsung. - Наука та технологія

Thank you for the tips! It really helped me! Although, it seems the non paged pool memory slowly increases, taking more and more ram, what do you think I should do about it (I would say that I should use the techniques you introduced in this video overtime)
Desktop window manager uses so much ram when i upgraded to win 11, any fix on this?
Thanks a lot, I had disabled start up apps already and disk clean up but changing the regedit value and Sysmain really helped, I have 12GB of ram and it was using 10GB of it doing not much at all, almost double what windows 10 was using!
thank you so much for this. i was having the problems you describe. i have only 8gb ram and it's soldiered on. you have made me a thousand dollars richer (the cost of a new laptop)
much much appreciated.
my ram usage went down from 40% to 17%, which was around the same levels as when i was using windows 10. thank you so much bro this tutorial worked
Glad I could help
@@MDTechVideos any chance you could tell me what changing that value to 4 actually does?
How long did that take because I still have the same ram amount ....
@@Iden_Elihio_1999 instantly after doing all the stuff in the video
@@Iden_Elihio_1999after restart
done all this but programs keep randomly opening killing my memory lol im at 70 memory while in desktop doing nothing
It looks that for me it worked well!
After I made these tweeks My memory usage droped from 85-90% to 65-70 at the same circumstamces (RAM 16 GB, Chrome with 15-20 opened tabs, Fusion 360 with moderate project opened).
Wow that's too much for chrome
Thanks the registry editor optimization actually helped lower my ram usage on idle by 2 GB's!
Thank you! When I was upgrading to Windows 11, I found that it was using more memory compared to windows 10. So, I followed this tutorial and went from 53-75% to 32-51% after applying and restarting. ^^
Glad it helped!
does it still use more memory than windows 10 even after the tutorial?
Hey bud i wanna ask
That does these tricks you mentioned have side effect?
god I love how you sit through the processes and do it right, thanks I don't know if any of this helped me but thanks. I'm running a game called new world.. and I feel like I'm not using as much vram as I should, or graphics ram.. I looked into some settings and it seemed low. I don't know how to increase the useage.
Press Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
Head to System > About.
Select Advanced system settings.
Under Performance, select Settings.
Open the Advanced tab. Under Virtual memory, select Change. Here are your Virtual Memory options.
I did this, and.. my reccomended was much higher than what is used... how to change? O_o.. Well I don't know the min/max values (32gb ram / 3080 RTX / i9-somethingk )
Worked, this is one and only vid that has actually helped me with my performance, good shi and thanks
Glad I could help
I like that he waited for the disk defrag to run.
I tried it myself omg thank you so much for these tips the reg editor worked like a charm our family laptop is pretty new and barely had any applications on it but windows 11 was hogging over 80% of the ram now it only uses 50% which is so much better. I just was wondering if you know what changing the "start" value from 2 to 4 actually does?
yeah im afraid to change the value in case something happens, any updates???
@@swannykiid its alr all it does is make the windows programs use less ram
How does it do that tho?@@errorcode6562
what exactly does the registry change do? please reply
I had 16gb's of ram and it was using 10-11 gb's of it. I watched and followed the steps now its 3-5 thanks a lot men. The usage went from %65 to %30
I used to watch a lot these kinds of videos that says "make your pc faster" and none of them actually worked. But this really worked.
@Aditya Jena your choice. I cant wait more to experince the win11s overlay i love the ui
THANK YOU!!! I went from 8gb to 3.2 gb out of 32gb and when i did the command prompt I found out my pc had corrupt files but it was automatically fixed
my cmd found corrupt files too.
i entrusted you with my pc settings, and u blessed them. god bless you
Thanks for all you showed us all. I see it really lowered my memory usage !
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much this actually worked! You definetely have my sub :D
Thanks for the sub!
Thx. I have 4GB RAM i7 740QM, its so HOT on W11
Thanks for your help. My machine was working fine even though it's a little light on RAM (8GB) under Windows 10. When I upgraded to Windows 11 my memory was running low quite often.
Glad I could help
is there a way to go back to window s10?

thank you so much for this!
my ram went down from 50% to 22%, still not the best but its a massive improvement
same! wish it could be around 15-16 but i’ll take it
You are so lucky. My regular ram usage sits at about 85-90% even with this and the only program i have running is 1 tab on google chrome.
@@MatthewBerryRealYT me to bro i am trying to lower mine but nothing is working the pages like blink for me
well this depends on how much ram you have, if you have 8gb and its using 20%, thats completely normal as its around 2gb and thats how much a computer should use when idle
@@IndeedJosh i got 8gb and its usin like 80 and 90 when i open 1 tab
My ram went from 13gb out of 16 used down to 5gb used. Windows 11 was really using my ram when I upgraded, this video helped a TON. Thanks man 😁
Большое спасибо за полезные советы!
Thank you bro you saved me from having a mental breakdown. I have the ROG Strix RTX4060 Laptop and its keep crashing after 2 month. Turned out that my RAM usage is abnormally high.
I really needed this. My PC only has 8 GB of RAM, so when I saw it was going up to 6.7, I knew I needed to fix it quick. I thought I had a virus, but your tutorial made me go down to an even lower amount: 3.3-3.7 GB of RAM usage. I appreciate this man, thank you for the helpful video! This will be useful for me in the long run. ^^
Hai, if i format windows, the ram window
still 3 to 3.7 gb is a lot bro on ubuntu with many customisations and stuff it maxes out at 1 gb but its windows
Thank you! I don't know why, but my RAM has been filling up and I still do not know why. I found this video while searching for a solution and it seems to have fixed my issue. I'm only on the second day in, but so far so good.
Just for a bit of background, I have a very high end system with 32GB of DDR5 RAM and just normal PC use having two browsers open and a few other regular programs would fill up my RAM completely within a day. Then my PC would lag and stutter as it tried to figure out what to do with the RAM.
This was the greatest of help thank you a million
You're welcome!
You're a lifesaver! Thank-you so much
Glad I could help
Thanks a bunch man, I recently bought a new Acer Nitro 17 for gaming. It ran games extremely well but it always irked me that it would have almost 90% ram usage while idle. Your first fix reduced my usage to 46% which is ridiculous 😅. Thanks a bunch man, definitely liking for later.
Glad I could help!
It still running good now ?
@@Javggoat yup
after the last restart it looked like it helped alot, at startup i used to have like 50%+ usage for no reason, and now im down at like 35 steady,

Command prompt found a corrupt file, what should I do? Saids here

Thanks!!! I was suffering, having 80% in Ram without opening anything. Then after doing all of this, only 25%
thank you, it work
You're welcome!
So this reduced my RAM usage; but now none of my apps are working? What could have done this?
I couldn't do the command prompt for sfc / scannow. It told me I needed to be an administrator running a console session. I hav eno idea what that means, and I am an admin on my own computer lol. Help?
Thanks man 🤙
A suggestion. You’re obviously a pro with windows. For unknowledgeable people like it’s hard to keep up with what you’re doing. I start to follow your video and there seems to be steps missing. I can’t keep up with what you’re doing . Thanks for for your effort. I’m sure it works for a lot of people.
just pause lol
C'mon now, even I'm not a pro and this was the simplest follow along video I've found
What? I honestly don't understand what's missing or not able to follow along with, this was the simplest and easiest video I've come across. I know legit nothing about this stuff and my computer is running better.
actually i performed everything in the video.
There is no step missing and if you do everything in the video and get an error, maybe your windows is corrupt or more damaged
Thank you 👍
Can this also work with win10 ?
Works very very well. Thank you, my lenovo gain new life.
Glad to hear that
My laptop ryzen 5 radeon got super laggy even I'm not running any apps it freezed on the desktop my cursor teleports😐
my ram usage is at 98 for absolutely no reason other than all the processes windows opens itself.
I have an RAM 8gb running 78-89% on idle and opening a single app takes it up to 97%. Im loosing my mind as to what exactly is wrong with it and this video hasnt exactly helped me im still 81% on idle though.. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for the video either way ❤️
Tq bro u save my life
Happy to help
These tasks did nothing for my RAM but shot my processing utilization up to 100%
hellooo mdtech, just wanted to be assure ... can u explain what the first step actually does to the system which reduces the load?
I'd like to know too
When I did it and restarted my laptop, everything is much slower. Why? Like for example I go onto discord and I see my friend previous pics he's sent but it's loading very slowly
Late reply but if it is slower turn sysmain back on
you saved my life and laptop
this is very working !!!
I tried so many methods and this did not work ...
loved it man..
Glad I could help
Thank you very much! I made the changes in the registry editor (first recommendation in video) and it reduced the excessive memory usage by Desktop Windows Manager by 90%!!! Very kind and helpful of you!!!

Please fix windows 11 Add Features Installing failed
I solved my problem on msi board with Ryzen 3400G processor on win 11 it show that i only have 13.9gb ram but instalated 16gb. The problem was fixed by disabling gpu on the processor off course if you have pci gpu.
How did you do that
@@sinnlostv1119 I disable a gpu in bios on a cpu and that's it. Somehow when i installed win 11 it turnd on and because of that ram has been taken by gpu on a cpu.
Everytime I start windows 11 I get around 60-70% of memory usage because I only have 4gb ram. But with this it only uses 50-60% thanksss.
Also I suggest also using mem reduct to make it even less ram usage
is it normal for my ram & disk usage to go from 90% percent idle to 40% gaming?
if u get the answer share it here dude
My laptop optimizes usage when a game is opened and frees up a couple GB of ram. Maybe yours does the same? Mine has "Omen Gaming Hub" preinstalled which is what causes that for me
OH MYM GOD IT ACTUALLY WORKED IN LENOVO VANTAGE IT WENT FROM 6 TO 0.47 THANK YOU I CAN PLAY BEAMNG AGAIN
