I'm always using Showdown and Smogon. Smogon has been helpful in giving me direction on certain pokemon sets if I'm not sure what to make. It posts previous builds that other players have used and had success with and even sometimes provides detailed explanations on why the sets r what they r.
I use pikalytics when I’m interested in a pokemon and showdown to actually test teams out before I make them in game! I also usually text other people who I know play competitive and bounce ideas off them. On that note, I gotta finish out lining all the teams I wanna try out (something like 50ish teams)
Good tools to use to know what teams are top but also find ways to beat the beat teams. Personally i dont want to use to best teams, i want to know how to beat them
Same, I know it’s META for a reason but I try to build towards a hard counter while having a counter for the counters. Tough with only 6 spots but that’s what makes the building process fun
I'm actually one a those dorks that doesn't practice on Showdown, but actually in cartridge 😅. I do, however, use everything else about twice as much, just elevate that factor, so I know what moves and stat spread is most optimal. It's not the optimal way to team build, but it works great for me. At least for BO1😅.
What tools do you use to improve at VGC?

Smogon is one I have typically never used, but is definitely one worth looking into!

Yeah that’s why I use discord. I send the teams I’m building to the homies to get thoughts before I build
Thanks man! Getting back into this VGC stuff and this was super useful. Especially how to find locals.
Glad it was helpful! A lot of people have been asking for this video!

Fair enough!

Yeah easier to get away with it in bo1
How do you practice on showdown?
Pick the format you want to play and run games there
