Alright so a few months ago, I tried using this method you have in this video and I’m gonna update you now. After days of research, I found out that you would need 1k subscribers or more for chapters to work. Proof? I asked many youtube channel creators under 1k subscribers and said that it doesn’t work for them. Then, I asked some creators with 1k subscribers and said that it worked for them. I also found sources in the internet that also claims that 1k subscribers are required for chapters to work. Just like the eligibility for UA-cam monetization, you would need 1k as well for chapters to work. The reason it works for you is because you have 15k subs, which is 15 times more than the requirement for chapter eligibility. So yeah, hope everyone understands now.
Respectfully, this is not true. It is true that it doesn't work for everyone, but I'm still trying to get to the bottom of what exactly the requirement is. I did find out that if your account is not verified then chapters won't work for you, so that's one thing. But I have seen people with under 100 subscribers get this to work, and their accounts were verified. I don't know if that's the only requirement or not... you may want to double check with UA-cam support to find out? I hope that helps! Best of luck :-)
This is not true. This method worked well for me, and I only have 10 subscribers. Hoping you can get this method to work from you. Are you outside of the US by chance? Thank you, Rob for making this easy tutorial.
We manage a podcast account with around 300 subscribers and chapters work for us. I think it has to do with email or 2fa verification that has not yet been completed! Without verification, you also cannot put clickable links in the description.
I am having an issue with a new account we created and trying to get chapters to work, I will try to update if the verification on the UA-cam account fixes the issue. But I am assuming it will.
That's not true... I know of many people who get this working with less than 100 subscribers. But what you do need is to have your account verified. I hope that helps :-)
@@RobtheMaritimer my account has been verified, but it still won’t show up as chapters on the video, only time stamped links in the description. Do you know why?
This was great! 🤩 Just added to my last video (and may go back and do this for all). 👍 I don't have many subscribers yet and it worked perfectly! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! 🙏
I have just come across your channel. I want to say thank you for the vital information. I will apply this to my videos. By the way, the 10 second chapter tip is super appreciated!
Great video! Thanks for the clear instructions on adding chapters to UA-cam videos. I have a question: Do you think it's better to use automatic chapters or to add them manually? Which method do you prefer and why?
I followed your steps, but I have NO breaks in the Play Bar for my video. Nothing. I don't know why. I put down 00:00 like you and everyone said. I place a name next to it. Used the colon for the minutes and seconds. All my points are more than 10 seconds apart. I saved it. I got a verified phone number and more than 3 timestamps. My video is in the 30 minutes length. Even turned on and off the Automatic chapters settings. Still one big play bar. I know you said in real time, but does it take a while? Especially for someone who hasn't uploaded a video in years? Or due to the size of the video? I tried this before from another video and a few days nothing. I would love to get the jump points/breaks in my video. I'm at a loss. UPDATE: Oh... apparently ONE of the reasons chapters can't be added is I need at LEAST 1000 Subscribers to get it to display. I only got 17. lol Wow, that sucks if true. Or channel performance? I don't know, information I'm finding is inconsistent. :/
It sounds like you've done everything right. I don't believe you need 1,000 subscribers for youtube chapters to work... but with only 17 subscribers that might be a reason it isn't working for you... that ability may not have been activated for your channel yet. I suggest contacting youtube support and see what the issue might be? Sorry I can't be of more help.
