Packy did a review of a Helix a little while back, and found that the two coverstock materials had shrunk differently over time. You can hear the point when the rotation shifts.
@@masterworks71 I saw that video. He got an abused one. Mine are sealed in a safe. One isn't even drilled and NIB. Used the original Helix years ago in league. Don't use it now because it is 16lbs and wanted to keep it intact. Mine isn't warped or damaged. Rolls right in the pocket hard.
All the old Brunswick quantum balls should be worth at least 200 bucks and the only reason I say that is because I bought an old Brunswick quantum ball from 2005 for 20 bucks and then I threw 299 with it for my first full game and then threw 300 with it four days after
Only balls I can honestly say hit like nothing else at the time.

I think Forrest could have bowled better with a house ball with the house shoes. Michael felt sorry for Forrest's struggles toward the end of the game! Thanks for your creative videos Michael.
When Quantums first came out in the mid 90s, people around here were so pissed and refused to use them. The most expensive balls were less than $200. Then here came Quantum with a $300 price tag. We just knew everyone else would start pricing their balls that high. That being said, I would love to see you throw a Quantum Helix. Only got to see one once being thrown by Walter Ray Williams on TV.
It’s surprising that bowling balls are still cheaper in 2024 than the Quantums in the 1990s, even without adjusting for inflation.

I've revived a few thick shell balls, and they can bleed oil for hours. Looking at your quantum it's definitely soaked. They're factory polished, but a full resurface will help a lot as well.
You should do a video on Crimson Phantom. Low-hook urethane with crazy weight-block/flare.
I had the purple one. They were the first proactive ball that actually absorbed the oil although they all do now.

$12,000? Absolutely not. Someone owes a bookie. However, the Raven was an amazing ball during its time. I recorded one of my highest series as a youth with that ball & also won a few tournaments with it. 1 of the top 3 Quantums of all time for sure. You should give it a light resurfacing & an oil extraction - it'll probably roll better. I have a close to brand new Timber Wolf & it still reacts very well on todays lanes & oil.

Bowling with teflon tape covering the bottom of your shoes. It'll be close to ice. If the alley was crazy enough to let you put it on the approach it would be worse than ice.
