As a postwar ''Baby Boomer'' (born in 1957) I watched that cartoon every early Saturday morning on WNBC-TV CH 4 back in 1969, I salute you sir! I'm very happy your restoring and preserving those old cartoons, Thank you.
“Seeing the alien and exhuming its corpse”, it’s funny you say that because throughout the whole video I was thinking about the movie Alien Autopsy, a movie about the alien autopsy hoax, they spend a good chunk of the movie trying to recover footage of what they think is a real alien autopsy only to fail and make their own film of it.
It’s an unfortunate outcome when it comes to trying to preserve film, and one that will only become more and more common the more time passes. We’re kind of lucky that personalized intro was saved. That was more rare than the episodes that followed it, theres a possibility that other copies of those exist but that intro was one of a kind. Edit just realized I was following the progress of this film on Twitter this whole time and didn’t even know it was you lol I knew that looked familiar!
at the very least, some new content was found, and at the end of the day thats the most you could ask for, and who knows, maybe that end screen could be restored by some later on through some miracle lol
Shame the reel was so far gone but at least it was a good exercise in working on film print restoration/stabilization; that will probably come in handy with your future projects. Out of curiosity, given you're in college, did you reach out to their archives for advice or resources at all?

LMAOOO that's awesome. The concert was great, we had fun.

Very interesting, it's a shame that the print was deteriorated but still awesome ya have it.

I did not, but my university's archive is pretty pathetic so they wouldn't be much help.
Woo!

That scan still looks super cool, even if it's not perfect archivally.
I worked on the Manos: The Hands of Fate touchup btw. just a few shots, it was mostly done by the guy who found it iirc.
