    Great job Dawn. Thinking of folks that want to get into Detecting.Good advice.That bag look awesome. We have bun bag type which go round your waste and if you fill them full of finds they tend to pull you trousers down. Like the idea of a shoulder strap . Nice one Dave

    I started with a bum bag but have found it was to small. now I have a bag similar to yours but without so many pockets.
    When I detect for gold I use a back pack. not to put all my gold in (I wish) but I hang a bungy cord off it and onto my detector. Works a treat when your detecting all day.
    Cheers

    Recovery tools......... Walk to someone's door to get permission with a full size shovel, "Not In my Garden"! Old as I'm, we didn't have pin pointers, we did the best you can with a detector, you can do a very close job if you take the time to learn the detector. Then your also less likely to damage your coins as well. Then with a 8 inch tool and a small plug, there's your coin. I'm only saying this because so many people are going to get in to detecting, How do they learn? UA-cam. Teaching with a video is a great idea, Learning to recover with little damage is also a great idea. In the fields and woods, the full size shovel is good. My heart breaks when I go to a place and see holes and damage. I have had people come to me and tell me of damage they have seen being done. It's a great hobby and I'd like to see it stay in good stand. I do love your video's.

      @DiggerDawn  9 років тому

      KD8GIS Bruce This is the reason for my videos Bruce! Im starting at the beginning and im going to try and instill good ethics and the legalities of the hobby, the people who make a mess and just dig anywhere in some cases are uneducated MD's that dont know any better, they are the ones that spoil it for us all, so if I can answer their questions and give out basic info it may go towards helping a few get it right! :-)

    hi dawn guess wat ive got my detector woooooooooo.. but i aint got a spade oooooo ive seen one for under a tenner but its a micro one ..looking at yours i take it youve got the same . just a question .. now im not tall ( although i tell the wife im 6 foot) is a spade with a 27 inch in length ok for the job im 5 .6. colin

    • @DiggerDawn
      @DiggerDawn  8 років тому

      +carper1325 Great stuff Colin!!! woohoo! The spade you have seen is good for a starter spade and loads of people have them! Mine lasted about 10 months and then it snapped, I wouldnt worry about the length and your height. If you want to buy a more expensive spade there are loads out there, however you do need to take the weight into consideration when buying one. I currently have a Fiskars long border spade, and its fantastic but it cost around £30. Chuffed for you, bet your dying to get out there!

    digger dawn do you think a garrett ace 150 is a good starter metal detector to start out with?, i was thinking of buying one for a starter detector

    • @DiggerDawn
      @DiggerDawn  8 років тому +1

      +mark duncan I think garretts are excellent starter machine and many people have started off with one. I would say the 150 is good, but if you can afford a little bit more the 250 would be the better machine to buy!
